Excellent advice. As a hiring manager you touched on many of the points I would look at. Especially Communications......
Thanks Curt!
Any online resources to lear soc like cybrary
Hello sir, if I have good knowledge of everything listed in the video can I get an entry level SOC analysis with my BSc information technology certificate?
If I'd like to showcase some communication/writing examples in my portfolio, is there any specific types you suggest? For example showcasing a mock Pentest Report, SIEM reports etc?
Content is carefully chosen and thoughtfully organized.
Great info and no fluff, Network+ was my first I used Dion's course as well as Messer's but will say those practice test questions helped a lot. Thanks for the additional info
You’re welcome!
found your channel today ..from my yt recommendations...and I'm now deeply in love with it lol
Damn I needed this. Thank you!
Perfect explaination and timing 🙌
Today, I came across your channel(and for which I am grateful) and I have been bingeing your videos and this is my 7th video. Great content man!! Really appreciate it.
Thanks Shein!
Day is literally the coolest name I've never heard of ngl. Also thank you for the info!
Bless you brother 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
My mentor directed me here , great information for someone just starting out , thanks !
Big thank for your explanation, Guy.
Awesome!
Excellent Video! Really great explanation and overall truly great work!
Thanks Joshua!
This information is accurate. Well spoken, sir.
Great info thank you
Thank you for the video, I'm going to start a vlog as I learn to be able to use in my interviews
You’re welcome!
You are the best brother ❤
Thanks 🙏
Thank you very much
It’s also important to learn cyber attack methodology and common responses
Absolutely!
New subscriber , I am switching from healthcare to cyber security thanks for your information !
Me too! Healthcare just ain’t it anymore 😂
Me too !
Why you guys switching from Healthcare to tech?
Darn right, same here!!!
Thankyou
As a retired veteran looking to transition to cyber, this is the perfect video!
Great information
Thanks!
Good info Day. I do recommend dialing back the gain on the audio. It sounds like it clipping a little too much.
Thanks for the tip
What would you recommend for someone retiring from the military with a clearance but no IT experience.? I also have a degree in Cybersecurity as well.
Thanks a lot for this wonderful video.
You recommend we find a way to document, like through a UA-cam channel.
Why? What is the reason? To present during an interview?
To show your work & put yourself out there :)
Hi, Im preparing to take my Security+ in a few weeks. I have passed my Network+. Ill be applying for SOC Analyst positions when I pass my Security+. I just want to make sure SOC Analyst roles arent like my current call center job. Im currently remote working as a help desk tech and I really do not like the call center environment.
It’d really depend on the organizational structure. I’d ask the hiring managers these questions
Do you have any degree or did you just get certs?
@@dylandacasual6866 I have a degree in psychology and I’ve taken a few tech courses.
@@TM-ocean is there any update on your search journey? Any interviews?
@@LTisback hi, I passed the security+ exam. I’m currently waiting to hear back about a cybersecurity analyst role I interviewed for last week.
Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome Alfredo!
The skills I need to work on are the basics and EDRs (Endpoint Detection & Response). I have some experience using Alien Vault SIEM, but did not have the opportunity to install and configure Alien Vault SIEM.
Definitely try to get it setup. It’s free!
@@DayCyberwox Can you be more specific which is free?
@@AlfredoTigolo AlienVault OSSIM
Day, do you recommend buying the subscription for RangeForce SOC Analyst Battle Paths?
Yes rangeforce is great. A lot to learn
@@DayCyberwox thanks man
Can you do a video on your computer setup, I'm trying to build mine.
Already have one : ) ua-cam.com/video/dZc-QKqJ7Rs/v-deo.html
Hey Day going for my Net+ at the end of Jan. What should I go after the Net+ to land an entry level SOC role?
The BTL1 is my best recommendation. Here’s a playlist I made all about my experiences with the exam: ua-cam.com/play/PLDqMNdDvMsRk3H4E3cNpqU6bN2MLCZMjn.html
Clutch as usual! Do you think then I could skip over sec+?
@@DayCyberwox I love the BTL1 curriculum. TryHackMe also has a new SOC analyst 1 learning path.
I was wondering why you didn't go for Cyber Security and Assurance.
I found more value in my current program
I'm 12 right now...…and I'm not sure what to do right now :(. I'm just interested in computers and want something to work on for my future, and my uncle works in a cyber security company and he says its quite a difficult job, and 1 side of my mind says: "DO IT" And the other half says: "Man, i don't think you should go into cyber security or ethical hacking, i don't think your interested. Find something else computer related." Who Should I listen to?
I’d say just start learning about it. Creating an account in tryhackme or hackthebox and start messing around with different things. You’re still very young so overtime, you’ll know if you really like it 🙂. Watch this video on 3 THINGS I WISH I KNEW IN HIGH SCHOOL BEFORE PURSUING CYBERSECURITY | Must watch for High Schoolers!

@@DayCyberwox sure will 😁
So if I got ccna go for l1 soc? I don’t need security plus?
It’d depend on what the SOC is looking for. The skills matter more than the certs and CCNA is also very CISCO networking focused. I’ll rather recommend the BTL1 as it’s the only available SOC certifications that teach you all the skills you need.
Learn more about it here: ua-cam.com/play/PLDqMNdDvMsRk3H4E3cNpqU6bN2MLCZMjn.html
I thought sec+ is moreso needed than net+ for soc analyst. Or is both needed?
Both are needed. You may find yourself using your net+ more often than not. I would say those certs compliment or build upon each other.
IHMO since SOC analyst is security based, I would suggest going with CompTIA Security+ because it covers the network fundamentals and basics needed for cybersecurity. However, I'm not saying that you shouldn't get the CompTIA Net+. But when it comes to recommendations or even requirements, Sec+ is a must.
@@ibrahimabarry2462 agree security +
You also need soft skills alot.
Absolutely💯
Soft skills are needed alot and very much underestimated
Thanks for the Info , but can you speak slower next time. Again really enjoyed the Info
Hey i need a mentor you trying to be him
is learning kali linux important sir?
I think the question is more should I learn Linux? The tools present in the Kali Linux?
I would definitely say yes!
Yes, learn everything related to Linux
Linux, Python???
Bro which is better SOC analyst or Bug Bounty hunting
your english is very fast ,try to Slowly
