Bottle up all the current so-called "divazz", and they couldn't combine to equal one cell in this gifted body....Annie Lennox is the best female ever in my opinion!!!
check out Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Bjork, P J Harvey... there are a lot of great women creators out there. you just have to look for them more carefully :) enjoy!!
I agree with kobipbip. There are many great women creators both past and present. Jill Scott, Tracy Chapman,Carol King, Nona Hendryx, Nina Simone..... etc.etc.etc
kobipbip Wow. Ok, this is where I often try to remind myself of that line,”... different strokes for different folks”! Because, imho, that small list of legit women, in their own right, in your list... are not in the same musical realm of soulful presence as the divine Lennox. Again, imo, there’s that group of women performers you’ve mentioned... which I’d even throw in Beyoncé (only because she has so many fans that vow she is a queen) I don’t agree, and her vibrato and “skills” actually irritate my ear drums😂 But, to each their own. Then, there are the greats! And that group includes names like Etta, Whitney, Tina, Lennox just to name the select few. Heck, even Cyndi Lauper belongs in this elite group. I eve was tempted to mention it was an insult to group Annie with that list. But, I didn’t want to be a drama queen😂
I had the fortunate experience to see her open for Sting at the Hollywood Bowl, and when she came out on stage to finish Sting's set, I'll be damned if she didn't steal the show! Incredible range and unequaled intensity...
Hi , I’m curious , did Annie actually open for Sting or was it an “equal” double-bill ? Not sure how to word that question , but you know what I mean. Ty

Mahalo for your hard work, Bunny. Hope you know it was much appreciated I’ve loved Annie Lennox since high school in the 80’s. That voice is just amazing. Thanks so much, again Aloha🤙🏾🤙🏾🎼🎶🎵
Mine as well. 8y later now and I honestly think her voice has aged incredibly well. Hearing performances within the past year or two , she’s lost absolutely nothing. Only gained a smooth/gravelly-ness that truly only adds.
I totally agree, brother! Her voice is so soulful and strong. Even her “Whoa’s”... and “Yeeeah”s has this certain sweetness and power going back to her EURYTHMICS days of “Sweet Dreams” and “Here Comes the Rain..” and on great tunes like “Why” and, my personal favorite,”No More I Love You’s” with those soulful “Whoa”s and “Yeah”s on all of them.
John Lee Bass No, she doesn’t. There are several songs I can replay multiple times in a row because of how much my ears are fused to her beautiful vocal delivery. And if I’m watching a UA-cam video, I’ve been known to drag back that little red dot to restart an Annie Lennox song... ten plus times. UNabashedly!😍🤭😬😁 And, those hypnotic eyes, man! I’ll mention it time and time again. They are awesome! Always thought she was a beautiful woman/artist! Whether it was dressing Tom boyish during her EURYTHMICS days, to wigs during her solo years... she has always been so easy on the eyes. And, what really amazed me that I learned about her during an interview she had done when she had released her solo debut album, was she mentioned that she is shy by nature. And, loves to dress up with head dresses, makeup etc because it is like a shield to her as she faces the public or performs in concerts. I would never had guessed that. BUT, it makes total sense because, ironically, I am the same way.
I recorded this MTV unplugged concert, onto VHS, when it first showed.. My wife was a singer and this mean't a lot to her at the time. When we separated the copy that we had went with her. For years i have searched for a DVD of the same show, but nothing available. So thank you for posting this. Annie Lennox has everything, Stage presence, stunning beauty, the most versatile female voice ever & the ability to hold her audience in the palm of her hand. Wonderful to watch and hear. Go Annie. X
As a female white pop vocalist, she had an absolutely huge global career and is considered a goddess ever since she entered the stage. She did a duet with Aretha Franklin, had 15 Grammy Nominations and 4 Grammy wins. What makes you write she's underrated? By whom? The Marsians?
This is all acoustic. Guitar. Bass, piano, harmonica, and drums. It's not unplugged in the bluegrass sense ( everyone around 1 mic) but this is the standard arrangement for every early 90's unplugged concept.
Yeah, I think it was a good vehicle for artists that were electric heavy (hard rock, electronic, even hip-hop) to strip down their music. It was MTVs last great musical programming stroke of genius, IMO.
There were 2 different broadcasts of the Unplugged session. A shorter version on MTV and this longer version broadcast on BBC. I don't know why Little Bird was missing from the longer one but I have posted Little Bird from Unplugged separately on my channel.
OK let's 👀 how good we are at recognition here. There is one of the Beatles (solo) songs blended in one of the songs she is singing, the Beatles one of course. What song is it?

Annie is the finest singer...pretty much ever. Studio, live, whatever. Especially on those slower, ballad-esque songs. Her voice just jambs itself down your throat and grabs you by the feels. Velvety liquid gold. One of those voices like Patsy Cline and Otis Redding. There won't ever be anything as good.
At the start of Eurythmics, Annie was a rare Red Wine... and boy did she just get better each year... what a role model for future generations of artists. Love you Annie.
A goddess. Period. She is perfection. No one holds a candle to her, and here she is at the height of her powers. Love her over this restrained, refined band. One of the best performances of any artist anywhere.
Annie at her best! I remember seeing this when first broadcast in '92. Raw, soulful, an artist at the peak of her powers. The final song, a cover of The Beatles' Don't Let Me Down is truly extraordinary.e
Annie performs with an extremely rare possessed unbridled spiritual passion, couple that with an unusual voice , and unquestionable singing ability and possibly we glimpse at why she arguably stands alongside the likes of super-elite performers such as Kate Bush, and Edith Piaf.
What an absolute pleasure to listen to a master of her craft. This woman is the real deal.

Being a Scot myself, Annie has been a major influence in my life.
This girl's got some chops, somebody sign her to a contract.

TJ Williams You not been out much, then? Tune into a Tina Turner concert before you start saying Lennox is the best
In my humble opinion, Annie is one of the most amazing singers and performers in this word.
Breathtaking amazing. Had the privilege seeing Annie in concert and she took my breath away - had the voice and such a grace in the delivery...

Women can change so drastically throughout their lives.
She must get the best Adrenochrome.
Annie Lennox is wonderful. Not just as a performer but for humanism.
post humanism dear.
"The Gift"
Words cannot express what that song does to me. Thank you, Annie.
My favourite unplugged concert, brilliant vocal performance with the unteachable feel, and the band ...wow !
When she sings my heart hears first then my ears ,I am lost xxx
What an amazing artist! What a talent. I'm a 56 year old male. When I first discovered her via the "Diva" album, I was blown away. And still am......
