I am glad to see this workshop, as we are starting a new academic year. we are a Muslim family, I love how Sonya begins her day with religion. I will have to tweak a few things but I've learned so much from Sonya and the other wonderful mums from Simply Charlotte Mason podcasts. Thanks again.
This was a great visual. I'm taking notes haha 😄 We are trying to be more purest this year. We are a Muslim family and love how religion plays a wonderful roll in the curriculum and the studies are so enriching. We are super excited for the coming year 24-25
So glad that you found this episode helpful! Please reach out with any questions you may have as you continue to incorporate Charlotte Mason's methods into your homeschool.
Nicely laid out! Thank-you Sonya! We have two boys (a 2-year-old & 6-month-old) so looking for future ideas. My husband and I actually found you years ago when we were looking for a system for Bible verse memory for ourselves. Love your system and we use it! Now we are starting it with our little family and I think we will incorporate it into each homeschool day in the future! Thank-you 💐
Thank you for joining us and for sharing this feedback. So glad that you have found the scripture memory system to be helpful to you and your husband in memorizing scripture. So grateful for this thank you, Sonya 🙏🏻 I have an incoming kindergarten and a baby on the way this gives me a realistic picture of how our day could look like, I am hopeful!

This was great! But honestly, I've got to laugh, cutting the family off at five children. I know we are considered an extreme example but we have 10 children ages 9 weeks, 1, 3,5,7,8,10,11,12 and 13 years. It's alot of work and sometimes i feel like I am loosing my mind, but we nake it work.
This was wonderful. It makes me want to be a kid again receiving this type of education 😅 any tips for motivating children to do their chores unattended?
So glad that you enjoyed this free workshop! Here are a few helpful posts on chores. You will see highlighted in both of these posts a five step process for teaching a task. Here is that process: Thorough Training Step 1: I do it and you watch me. Step 2: I do it and you help me. Step 3: You do it and I help you. (So now the child takes the lead and asks for your help as needed.) Step 4: You do it and I watch you. Step 5: You do it and I check it. It is very important to walk through these steps with your children ensuring mastery at each level before moving on to the next, often where we as parents can drop the ball is in the watching and checking in because this takes so much more of our time and we feel the child knows what they should do. These steps are very important before expecting independent completion of a task. It can also be very helpful to address one task at a time through independence and then add on another task rather than a general "do your chores." You will then be assured that your children know how to do each task included in their chores well (to the standard that you expect it done) and independently before sending them off to complete this routine independently. Hi there... is there a way to do this with a cottage school? Im a high school maths teacher, homeschooled my own kids (one year left to go) and already excited about doing Simply Charlotte Mason with other children.
Hi, Great question! Charlotte Mason used her methods in a school setting, so it is absolutely possible to use these methods outside of a homeschool in a group classroom environment. SCM's resources are primarily for the homeschool parent, however we do also have resources formatted for use in a co-op setting. Perhaps some of those resources would be of benefit to what you are thinking? simplycharlottemason.com/store/product-category/cmt-groups/
I like the whole idea of this video. But now tell me how to do this having a three year old boy who likes attention, without a backyard to help. 😂 Well, I wonder about how much writing a child needs to do in every stage of learning. As far as I am concerned, writing is an important part of the learning process.
Hi, We have some helpful recommendations for engaging preschool children. How you decide to approach this will also depend on if you have only the three year old or if you have older children you are homeschooling as well. What Charlotte Mason Preschool Looks Like: simplycharlottemason.com/blog/charlotte-mason-homeschool-preschool/ Your Questions Answered: Preschool Activities simplycharlottemason.com/blog/your-questions-answered-preschool-activities/ How to Nurture Your Preschooler While Homeschooling Older Children: simplycharlottemason.com/blog/how-to-nurture-your-preschooler-while-homeschooling-older-children/ Charlotte Mason felt that it was important to defer formal lessons until a child was six years old. Now if a child shows interest in learning reading, writing, and math earlier then by all means engage them in an age-appropriate way, however if they are not ready that is ok and they should not be pushed. Charlotte Mason also thought that it was important that a child is able to read anything that they are writing, so these lessons should go hand in hand as early writing lessons begin. Here is a helpful post that goes over teaching writing through the years in a Charlotte Mason approach to education. simplycharlottemason.com/blog/teaching-writing-subject-by-subject-part-15/ Please reach out with any additional questions that you may have.
