Thank you for highlighting these key points.
Love all this wisdom! I don’t know if this is something that wouldn’t line up with Charlotte Mason style of learning… But what do you think of guided homeschool videos in general? And would you consider making your own for this community in the future? Even if it’s 5 minutes of a guide to a lesson or short practice video? I currently use a curriculum that has videos but they’re just too long and I love Charlotte masons style of learning. Videos sometimes help me get a load of laundry in or get a diaper changed. But I can’t seem to find something to keep our days short and sweet that packs a punch of rich learning. Thoughts?
Thank you for sharing your feedback and for reaching out with your questions! SCM has many resources that give the parent guidance on how to teach subjects using Charlotte Mason's methods. At this time, there are a few video resources that come to mind that are meant to be used directly with the student. The videos used in SCM's curriculum are supplemental and are not meant to replace the parent as a teacher in your homeschool. These video resources at this time include:
Handicrafts Made Simple

Supplemental videos associated with the "Practical Geometry, Part 1" course:

The number sentence cards offered as part of "The Charlotte Mason Elementary Arithmetic Series" can be great for those moments where you need to step away from a lesson but want to keep your student engaged.

Our goal at SCM is to equip parents to teach their children, especially in the younger grades when it is key for children to form those relationships with their children, so it is unlikely that SCM would produce a fully video guided curriculum. Lessons in a Charlotte Mason education are short, so while there is focused hands on time with the parent present especially in the younger grades, you will finish up quickly leaving time in your day for other things. Additionally, if you need to schedule lessons around your other daily commitments, that is possible as well as there is so much time left in the day so being creative with your schedule can be great for many families.
Thank you for sharing this invaluable, encouraging, and motivating video!
