I've used, tried out rather, many harmonizers and vocal enhancers, pitch correctors, ETC hoping to find one that gives a realistic sound , many from tc helicon, boss, digitech and spent hours upon hours tweaking them. I can tell you unequivocally that NONE of them sound real, they all give a sound that one can only describe as a child's toy. The best thing any of them can do is a slight doubling effect but none of them harmonize anything like a real person would. If you're into sounding like Chipmunks, these will achieve them perfectly.
Quite enjoying Bea's relaxed playing in these videos :) that strat they modded really sounds the part 2! I have to say, Hannah does a really good job at these reviews.
Sold!! :D as soon as you started singing in the beginning of the video, this is what I have been looking for. TC Electronics version of this cost 300 US or 500 US for the larger unit. This is a lot cheaper and more compact!
Enjoyed both the vocal demo vids, Hannah has a fantastic voice and is a great presenter. Bea is always awesome- nice to see The Capts Strat in the vid too.
Cool pedal, I just put it on reverb and delay and the “enhance” and it’s all good, sometimes kick in the harmony stuff, really cool for a crappy garage band singer like me, well worth it, and fun!
Ítalo Brito A guy as strong as Bea would have a long criminal record if he could not control his emotions better than that. Besides, he has been on UA-cam long enough to know how things go. You can be sure a certain someone has trolled his guitar videos at some point.
The only comments ought to be how good the review was and how fine her singing is. Both true. I hope they both continue doing these reviews. I also hope that one day they make a record. I'll buy it. As for dumbass sexist remarks.... alas, the world is filled with the fuckwitted. Hopefully, Hannah and Rabea realize this and pay them no head. Peace
Of course I imagine there will always be people who enjoy commenting like a jackass, but I know how it is on UA-cam, at the end of the day, I don't care :-)
I have to say that this sounds a lot more natural and musical than the TC Helicon Voice Live 2 that I'm using in my band. (for about a THIRD of the price) I should point out also that we too have one person singing while someone else (myself) is playing the guitar, which is a little awkward. When I know the singer is using the pedal, I have to be very careful what to play, knowing that it's going to effect the harmonies. This is probably a lot more natural and intuitive when the guitar player IS the singer. (To be fair, the TC Helicon has storable presets, pitch correction, doubling, reverb, delay and so on.) (Oh wait ... this one ALSO has reverb and delay) As I was listening, several times I stopped and replayed passages to hear how it handles changing chords and voice part movements... (As in... she's holding a note while he's changing chords) It handles them smoothly and realistically. (See "Free Falling" at 2:40 ) Sounds amazing, period. I play in an acoustic duo, and often would like a third harmony part. This is just the thing. Yes I know Digitech has theirs also. anyone here compare this to THAT one? (Vocalist 2, Vocalist 4)
Interesting stuff?! Sounds great with the higher pitched female vocal! And great vocal too! I thought I was listening to the Corrs at one point! Lovely voice! Be interested to hear what it sounds like with a male vocal?? Get Chapers to do a sample?!
Hi Hannah, I am a newcomer to singing. Would you happen to have a video where you sing without using the Boss VE-2 and right after singing the same tune using the Boss VE-2?
I want to buy this pedal as I like the rechargeable batteries function that comes with it , I already have the Digitech Hamonizer but this will only work with an DC input. The VE-2 will work well with my Roland BA-330 which has the ability to play a set on a bunch of rechargeable AA batteries for 10 hours in the street
First I enjoyed the video and couldn't help but notice the picker kind a sort a resembles Lesley West. Before I buy it I'd like to know what each input/output on the back is for and what the cables that you show running in the back are for. In other words how do you connect this pedal. I suppose I can always read the tech manual on the BOSS page.
I think it sounds fake.. but at the same time i would like a pedal were i can use vocal effects like i do with my guitar.. without having to write down a pre plan to a engineer that doesn't really care about my vocals more then adding a reverb..
i've seen and heard tons of troubadours/one man bands use these and they actually made it sound much better than you might think. As a musician you can of course tell that one singer with harmonies following his melody needs a pedal like this but the average human being doesn't really reflect over it i think.
I think the review is really well done. I wouldn't consider the harmony as an always on effect, but it would be nice to add a little texture at solo gigs for different sections of tunes. I'd like to know if you can plug a keyboard into it instead of a guitar though.
Love these Guys cool Duo.. love it when you joined Frogleap studios that was best guitar and vocals, so good the ending was unforgettable.. I'm Jealous of your guitar skills. thanks for the review looking at this for back up vocals.
I think the TC Helicon Harmony Singer sounds WAAAAYYYY more realistic. I don't like the sound of the harmonies of this pedal. I love the option of banking presets tho. Maybe I'm wrong about it... I'd love to see a shoot-out between the 2. Great review.
Yes.. The Harmony Singer takes the guitar signal through the pedal and intuitively adjusts the harmony depending on the notes/chords being played. Check the review on the Anderton's channel.
I thought this sounds really good.her vocals were on point and was his playing. I wish they would of done it dry and then used the effects. So I could compare the the change in sound. But still sounded very solid.
Your presentation is really good and sensational. I also bought the VE-2 after your demo, but I have the following problem: If I set the microphone so that the light flashes, it also picks up my guitar playing and it doesn't sound so good. Do you have a hint for me? Thank you already for your answer.
I found microphone placement can be critical with the VE-2; always make sure the vocal mic isn’t in straight shot of a guitar amp amplifier, FOH or monitors as other parts of the mix can bleed in. Makes for an interesting gig!
I bought the VE-2 and it´s really an incredibly tool. I need to buy some pedal for changing the memory though. Is there any chance I could get like... 30 different memories of my harmonize-settings if I buy some "special pedal"? Is there any pedal that is "extra-ordinary" in this case? Thanks for some advice here :)
I want to buy this for my grandparents, as they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks.. but they're not dogs. I'm just worried the Christmas themed colours of this pedal of red with green lights will mean they don't use it in the summer :/
Can you use this to mute your mic as well? Bypass still allows the mic to work, but if i want to cut out completely but allow my guitar to continue to be heard, will this do it?
I think the problem is it has a muffled sound and not a clear sound to it so when the singer is not singing using words and how and why oh sounds it’s not picking it up. Has muddy sound. It can be eq’d better too. Lazy singers that don’t sing direct on the note and actually go beneath the note and slur up to it is a bad habit and this device doesn’t handle that well.
hola, que pasa con este pedal si no conectas una guitarra?? funciona igual??? hi, what happens with this pedal if you do not connect a guitar? Does it work the same ???
I know this Boss VE2 has more bells and whistles than the TC Helicon Harmony singer (little Blue foot pedal) however in the various demos Ive seen the TC seems to sound better, and seem to get the harmonies better.Any suggestions or people who have tried both give me any info on which is best
How do the harmonies follow the melody when singing acapella? What guide does it follow if there's no guitar? While listening to harmonizer reviews, I'm hearing wrong harmonies in places ev en when the guitar is playing. I'm picky about harmonies.
There is an option to choose a key or Autho select. So I guess you would choose what key you were in if it was a cappella...but I did hear some questionable harmonies in the demon& you do raise a good point
sure can. But its also good to do your harmonies on different tracks for that 'real'feel (small discrepencies) and compare and use which one you like better. Because it does actually sound a little different to harmonies recorded and layered from what I have found, but still sounds super awesome.
Yes this pedal can take condenser mics and also this pedal also HAS phantom power that the condenser mic active circuitry needs so you dont need to spend more money on buying a phantom power supply for your condenser mic
With chords played in, a more precise harmony can be produced. I go even further: I always use a MIDI keyboard to play the exact melody of the harmony into my harmony processor (which is not a Boss VE-2).
I like how Rabea, master of the metal is just chillin in this video.
He's nice to girls
I've used, tried out rather, many harmonizers and vocal enhancers, pitch correctors, ETC hoping to find one that gives a realistic sound , many from tc helicon, boss, digitech and spent hours upon hours tweaking them. I agree. I liked the playing in this as well....
Sold!! :D as soon as you started singing in the beginning of the video, this is what I have been looking for. TC Electronics version of this cost 300 US or 500 US for the larger unit. This is a lot cheaper and more compact!
Sounds nice and almost natural. I'm impressed.
You need to check your ears, mate.❤️
Enjoyed both the vocal demo vids, Hannah has a fantastic voice and is a great presenter. Bea is always awesome- nice to see The Capts Strat in the vid too.
You guys make a great team!
Nice to see a live demo of this instead of the obvious studio production that Boss uses on their promotional videos for this.
man great voice Hannah! cool pedal - sounds like it actually tracks pretty well
I like Hannah's voice working with this pedal.
I could listen to her speak all day!
Cool pedal, I just put it on reverb and delay and the “enhance” and it’s all good, sometimes kick in the harmony stuff, really cool for a crappy garage band singer like me, well worth it, and fun!
Girl you don"t need it, I understand its nice to have options.Good job.
Great review, great vocals/singing, great playing Bea, Cheers!
Beautiful voice...
HAY I WROTE THAT SONG LONG AGO THAT IS AWESOME !
Excellent job with the demo!..
I like your video so much went out and bought one same afternoon
Hell Bea must be one hell of a Wizard if he's casting his wand in Hermione's direction, how come we never saw him in any of the films though? ;P
I'm sold. 7:08 it sounds so natural.
I'd check out the EHX equivalent before settling on purchasing this one
K
Be prepared, comments about Hannah are coming...
I can feel the sexist pigs arriving at the trough already
Ítalo Brito A guy as strong as Bea would have a long criminal record if he could not control his emotions better than that. Besides, he has been on UA-cam long enough to know how things go. You can be sure a certain someone has trolled his guitar videos at some point.
Ítalo Brito Meh, I think Bea is cool enough and probably thinks: 'fuck yeah, my gf is cute, comment all you want, she's still mine'.
I fell in love with Hannah!
Great review. I would have liked to hear the reverbs and delays on their own though. And that guitarist looks bored. Haha. I think he wants to shred.
Bea? Nah...
I have to say that this sounds a lot more natural and musical than the TC Helicon Voice Live 2 that I'm using in my band. Why don't you just learn to sing backups?
If you’re using the pedal, surely the guitarist should be playing the same thing accurately every time?
Hola, excelente video!, una duda, ¿se puede conectar a un amplificador FENDER electroacustic 150? ¡de antemano Gracias! ♪♫
That strat! Most satisfying sound on earth. Orgasmic.😮😊
Sounds better than the Digitech. Great review Hannah.
is there a big difference between the Boss VE-2 Vocal Harmonist vers Boss VE-20 - Vocal Perfomer,,,thanks
Hannah and Bea seem to make a great review duo!:)

Awesome demo thanks and God bless!
muy bien,very good,good vocal fx,animo con alegria.
Think I'm in love
Much better than those sweaty metallers they usually have.
Thanks. Great demo.
She's gorgeous. Much better than seeing Capt and Rob all the time:)
What a voice!
No need to write anything sexist here. Shes incredibly pretty and Bea is a lucky man! Nothing more needs to be said.
Did Hannah ever record anything professionally? Fab voice.
THIS IS WHAT I WANT!!
Magic voice without any BOSS VE-2
First I enjoyed the video and couldn't help but notice the picker kind a sort a resembles Lesley West. Thanks :-) And many blessings to you for happiness and success.
best review thus far thanks.
It's clever, no denying that, but it's makes live singing sound pre-recorded and auto tuned. Don't think it'll take off.
I think it sounds fake.. but at the same time i would like a pedal were i can use vocal effects like i do with my guitar.. without having to write down a pre plan to a engineer that doesn't really care about my vocals more then adding a reverb..
Haha there are a dozen of these on the market - they already have taken off. Even polka bands use them.
I could see uses for this in a live setting, especially for background vocals and acoustic "coffee shop" gigs.
i've seen and heard tons of troubadours/one man bands use these and they actually made it sound much better than you might think. As a musician you can of course tell that one singer with harmonies following his melody needs a pedal like this but the average human being doesn't really reflect over it i think.
church
the guitarist is like, "I want to put down this damn strat and djent my ibanez, but when will she finish???"
I think the review is really well done. I wouldn't consider the harmony as an always on effect, but it would be nice to add a little texture at solo gigs for different sections of tunes. I'd like to know if you can plug a keyboard into it instead of a guitar though.

Maybe I'm wrong about it... I'd love to see a shoot-out between the 2.
Great review.
***** Does the Helicon listen to guitar and figure out harmonies? I wasn't able to find that out yet. Do you know?
Yes.. The Harmony Singer takes the guitar signal through the pedal and intuitively adjusts the harmony depending on the notes/chords being played. Check the review on the Anderton's channel.
Thanks.
Boss are good pedals, no doubt about it, but always top end pricewise. Better value I think is Digitech Voicelive 3.
SORRY BOSS TAKES THE CAKE
NO 1
Nice .. > I kinda like the TC helicon VL3 more as it has more voices and other general effects.. Price difference of course.
I don't care about the pedal. But i can't stop watching. Why?
Vocal processor demo with the guitar louder than the vocal. Nice.
Am I imagining things or is the guitarist playing ahead of what we are hearing? It just looked a bit strange.
Now what would really be cool is if you could pair this with a midi and play the harmonies you want in real time.
You could use a vocoder or talkbox for something like that, pretty similar to what you’re looking for
Boss VE-500.
I thought this sounds really good.her vocals were on point and was his playing. I wish they would of done it dry and then used the effects. So I could compare the the change in sound. But still sounded very solid.
Hannah and Rabea in an original coffee shop album. Get writing!
Big improvements since 3 years ago
Omg that was great!
The guitar player looks like a yong Leslie West from the group Mountain!!
I like her singing but the pedal kinda ruined it for me, she should do more reviews !
Nice to hear a young vocalist with her own voice - I am SOOOOOOOO tired of the Adele sound-alikes.
Your presentation is really good and sensational. I also bought the VE-2 after your demo, but I have the following problem: If I set the microphone so that the light flashes, it also picks up my guitar playing and it doesn't sound so good. Can you have multiple voice setting (center light) along with a higher harmony selected simultaneously?
But which button makes Bea disappear after each song ends? :'D
Ha, it's funny to see you guys so young here!
I want to buy this for my grandparents, as they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks.. but they're not dogs. I'm just worried the Christmas themed colours of this pedal of red with green lights will mean they don't use it in the summer :/
Can you use this without the harmonies to add reverb etc to your voice
wondering what key she chose for the first bit because the chords were E Maj7 and then C Maj7, so it's a chromatic progression.
If you plug in the guitar it will work with non-diatonic chord progressions.
Can you use this to mute your mic as well? Bypass still allows the mic to work, but if i want to cut out completely but allow my guitar to continue to be heard, will this do it?
Nice, sounds great, allright guys thumbs up weeheeee👍👍👍👍👍 ohh yea
it would drive me up the wall listening a session like this..
she is a good singer but the harmonist is too much

hola, que pasa con este pedal si no conectas una guitarra?? funciona igual???
hi, what happens with this pedal if you do not connect a guitar? Does it work the same ???
Same accent as the captain :)
So.. English.
I know this Boss VE2 has more bells and whistles than the TC Helicon Harmony singer (little Blue foot pedal) however in the various demos Ive seen the TC seems to sound better, and seem to get the harmonies better.Any suggestions or people who have tried both give me any info on which is best
that's true, sucks that Tc doesnt has one batery option
Can somebody tell me what pedal is better, this Boss or the tc harmony singer ?
Love of my life 😍
She is perfectttttttttttttttt.
Would you suggest this over the Digitech vocalist live harmony?
great reveiw, thanks
Will it work with a keyboard ???
What pedal is the guitar player using to make his strat sound like an acoustic guitar??? is that just the sound of the amp??
Frurstration here, can't figure if the guitar is a Fender or Squier. No jaws action by Rabea = No Mojo.
The built in USB audio interface that the Boss VE-2 has records in 16 bits or 24 bits?
i

be quiet and enjoy the robot voices.

What's that song at the beginning?
It's got a cool groove
no looping?
great!
Boss may have improved on issues like latency and overall sound. But doesn't seem as versatile as the Ve-20.
How do you switch to momentary mode?
I still go with ve-20 I don’t want the vocal to be cued or controlled by anything but the vocal. “Harmony chosen by guitar chords “ WHY??
With chords played in, a more precise harmony can be produced.
I go even further: I always use a MIDI keyboard to play the exact melody of the harmony into my harmony processor (which is not a Boss VE-2).
Thanks
hello, please could you tell me if you can use this pedal without plugging in a guitar? Looking at getting one to use just for vocals, cheers
Yes, I guess. In "manual" mode, harmony is added according to the key specified by the KEY knob.
