  • In this tutorial, Psychi Athlete and GB Climbing Coach Rachel Carr walks us through how to dyno successfully.
Dynamic climbing can be tricky to get the hang of, especially if you're new to climbing. Dynos typically require a knack for co-ordination and timing, as well as powerful movement through your legs and hips. They can be a little nerve-wrecking but with these handy tips, you should be flinging yourself between holds in no time!

    This is great content.
I'm pretty much a noob climber and I've been able to do V4~V5 boulders but dynos just freak the hell out of me. Most people who can dyno just say that I have to suck it up and commit and most of the clips on youtube are about how to dyno well, but this is like the only video I have found that shows step-by-step progression.

Trying my first V3 dyno this afternoon! Thank you for the detail, especially the emphasis on leading from the hips.

This is brilliant! 'Driving the dyno with the hips' is what I've been trying to troubleshoot without really knowing what's wrong. Hoping this will make dynos on rope less of a struggle.

I like this video because it gradually builds to the dyno, other videos are like Step 1: Find a dyno, Step 2: Do the dyno

I'm a decent climber (have climbed v9) but my dynoing is not that good. "Hips up, hands" is going to be my focus. Good video.
