If you have 2gb or more. The performance isn't adequate enough to run more modern games. VRAM has to be matched to the performance. I used to have a GTX 970 with 3.5GB of VRAM, but I dam well couldn't use all of it while maintaining a good frame rate.
this was my first proper gpu. before this I had anciend ATI HD something card. I played every game from 2017 to 2019 without a problem at 1080p and loved it. then I upgraded to 1080 TI and last year, to 3080 :)
I think the same goes for me, too. While in the past I used GT 630, 1050Ti is my first GTX card. Still using it today bcos that's the limit for my 10-year-old PC (Intel 2nd/3rd gen mobo)
Have a GTX 1050 in my HTPC. Works well for displaying 4k video but I wouldn't want to play anything but the simplest games @ 4k. Used to be in my brothers rig and it worked well for a few years until the 2 gigs of VRAM really showed it's limits.
I have this exact model from HP. It's pretty quiet and it stays easily cool. I bought it about a year ago for 50€ The GTX 1050 is nowadays a pretty low end card and it's only meant for 1080p low/medium in older high end (3A) games or eSports titles. The way this stand, the GTX 1050 will probably also be one of the last entry level carda that had a 128bit bus and a full x16 pcie interconnect.
This 1050 is probably worse than current gen intergrated graphics on current gen hardware mid/high end notebook hardware eg a decent end current gen ryzen cpu
@@atom608 you're probably right, the 5600G performs similarly if mot better than a 1050 The problem is that the cost of getting a recent gen ryzen apu (ryzen 5 4xxxG and afterwards) is more expensive than the card itself and also we have to keep on mind the cost of the platform. E.g. you could upgrade a 2nd-7th gen prebuilt simply with a GTX 1050 and the price of the card would be far less than an entirely new build with a ryzen apu. So the card still has its use case
my fav... Polaris what the fuck card // MSI low profile RX560 after doing some chip modifications using chemicals and heat and cooling to pull it into the chip pores / I was able to get a LOW profile RX570 performance out of it.
The GT 1030 came out in 2017 and has 2gb vram, was a popular ish card too
For some reason forgot about that card...
@@tech_evolved The GTX 1010 is even newer
Turns out there is an even newer one, the Radeon PRO W6300 from last year if you count more workstation/professioanl variant cards.
@@olnnn yeah but he said mainstream so those cards are pretty uncommon
@@olnnn there's no GTX 1010, it's GT 1010
Sadly the 2gb made the 1050 age significantly worse than the 1050ti, which still holds up much better.

It's kinda funny that the laptop version not only has double the VRAM but also performs over its desktop variant

sounds like a great upgrade path!

Damn, Hogwarts 64 is looking FRESH
it would probably make a great card for an emulation rig, just grab an old office PC with an i7 and slap this bad boy in there
Loving the videos dude. Feels alot like hardware unboxed in a good way but for more niche or older products!
thanks! I'm def gonna stick to low end hardware. I may expand to high end occasionally but its not as fun
Looks like ATi card
loving your videos keep going my dude
some acer laptops (cough cough, mine) have a 1050 with 4gb, thank goodness
Intro 😂😂 loved it 😁
Awesome video and love the shop! Now why didn't I think of that haha
I’ll let you know how it goes. Stole the idea from sole bigger UA-camrs 😅
you can buy a cheap cooler from a broken or "Scam" gtx 650 and they fit the HP and Dell version of the 1050 ti.
Most gtx 1050s have 1280 cuda cores and 4gig of vram
?

My PC'S 1050 ti looks even more budget somehow :|
Can you next time make a deeper look into the graphics card... like opening it up 😊
I will definitely try some things out
as someone who had a gtx 1050 up until this november the stutter was a nightmere i even played gotham knights on it ( 720p fsr)
mb
Not gonna lie, that’s an ugly 1050 !
Very true!
RX 550 2gb 🤭
