Roald Amundsen was the first man to discover the South pole and the first explorer to discover *both* poles(American Robert E. Peary was the first to discover the North pole).
That museum has nothing to do with the peace prize, the nobel prizes and the man on the coins is a swede named Alfred Nobel (yes, the peace prize is a Swedish invention, why we were tasked with it a hundred years ago I don't know). Roald Amundsen is the man you saw in the museum, he was first to the south pole.
Ahh thank you so much for letting me know i wasn’t too sure, where was Alfred Noble from if you don’t mind? I must visit Sweden and its history. Kind regards!!
Norway got the Nobel peace prize probably because mr. Nobel was tired of the Nationalism in Sweden and the rest of Europe at that time. We really know for sure.
@@sidselfjeld3312 All we can is speculate, we'll truly never know why he picked us, he might've felt bad for the unioniziation(As we were currently under union of Sweden during his lifetime), maybe he was fond of Norway to some degree or as you said, he could've been tired* of the nationalism.
When you meet a rud Norwegian, how do you know that It's not a rude English turist in Norway? In a museum ?😎 We have tourists in Norway who are not intersted in greeting people they dont know. Norwegian or turist, and why should they put up a facade if they are not trying to sell you something? I think you have people like that in England too? Dont you? Just to exaggerate å bit, that 's probably the kind og thing that causes wars? 🤣😘🦂🇳🇴✌

Norsk folkemuseum is absolutely not closed at the moment. It's wide open and available. They are building a new viking ship museum.
They are separate museums, always been.

Mr. Alfred Nobel was born in Stockholm, Sweden.
Probably due to Fridtjof Nansen and his work for refugees and others.
