It's not necessarily my favorite part of the show, but I liked that they spent more time showing what happened in the pods this season. In past seasons, there were many couples who I didn't understand why they ended up together and why they felt the way they did. I always thought that if they spent more time showing the pods, those things would have made more sense to me. I don't trust Uche either. He shamed Aalyiah for cheating on (lying to) an ex, while simultaneously minimizing his own history cheating (and sorry, I don't consider 2 years ago to be "recent"). Then he goes on to lie to her by omission about Lydiah!? No. I'm so happy Aalyiah left because she deserves so much better.
On your first point I agree. I don't *love* the pods but it would be helpful with more info on HOW the couples came to be....BUT why are Stacy and Izzy together? 😂😂😂 I still don't know
I actually really appreciated all the time in the pods. I think the cast was just giving so much we really needed the context for some of these relationships and we got to know people a little more. In past seasons a common criticism was that we don't understand some of these connections like Kwame and Chealsea or Matt and Colleen so I think Netflix was just taking the feedback and there was a lot going on in the pods also by S4 ATA I was disappointed by them cutting out Monica. I was just thinking wow it would have been even more wild if we knew Jackie and Josh were in a love square so yeah I think more pods gives us more tea I'm super intrigued by this season and these people, this is how I felt watching Queer Love. But yeah no couples to root for.
I also really appreciated the extra pod episodes. To me it's the most interesting part because it's the gimmick of the show and it's so different from regular life, and so the later episodes feel dragged out and a lot less interesting.
@daddytchaik I agree I get really bored when the couples meet all the friends and family that interrogate them and the couples have to prove themselves like four separate times
One thing I will say is that we accuse Uche of being so judgemental, and he is, but many of us viewers are even more judgmental of the cast members than Uche. The way some of us have commented on cast members like Lydia, Johnnie, Uche is harsh and frightening. Lets all remember that all of them are human and humans are messy and imperfect beings. What we say will affect them mentally and emotionally.
Also these shows can blow things way out of proportion and manipulate the context. We're watching CHARACTERS who are put onto real people who can't object to how they're portrayed even if it's totally fake
That's cute and all, but Uche literally has 100 cameras on him and he's still acting toxic. Imagine what he's like when he's not being recorded. And yet you're out here riding for that ugly man.
@@johnjungkook2721 Please read my comment again. I am not riding for anybody. I am just making an observation of how we are quick to think the worst of people.
I’m with you on Milton. He was so close! I’m actually kinda scared for him…I can see Lydia being manipulative in their relationship. He kind of foreshadows that on one of their dates. Chris and him are my favorite cast members but he’s definitely not ready for marriage. He’s got mommy issues
I just finished watching 1-4 today. This season is so much drama that is unprecedented like you said. The teasers were so telling like theres no one to root for.
My take on Aaliyah is that after she realized Lydia was engaged to Milton she would have to deal with this situation and mess for a very very long time. And she says she didn’t want to get hurt. I would not want to deal with Lydia and Uche on my honeymoon, and Lydia is such a wild card like what would she do seeing Uche with his new girl. So I’m glad Aaliyah left! All the best to her!
I truly could not stand Lydia, I think I like her less than Irina. She's manipulative, over the top, she's compensating for not loving herself and projecting that onto others, she tried to convince Aaliyah that Uche liked A because she was just like Lydia??? She had NO redeeming qualities, maybe they edited that out but no edit can FORCE you to scream a lot, lie to your friend, ignore other people's needs etc. Edit: I did NOT think Aaliyah sounded remorseful though. I've had too many cheaters explain their cheating and not say they were sorry about it BUT say it took them a "long time to forgive themselves", but they're mainly giving excuses?? If I did it and told people two years later, I'd be like "I made an awful mistake, I was selfish and too cowardly to breakup and then I never even told them which probably makes them doubt themselves and their gut feeling in future relationships and I can't believe I did that to someone", and that would be what mattered, not my sexual needs over someone else's ability to trust and love...
Aaliyah did the right thing! She might have wanted to see it through with Uche, but Lydia's over-the-top emotionality was probably too much! Aaliyah seems great and deserves better than that situation!
Im so relieved aliyah left because the moment he started yelling at her for cheating two years ago i knew he was a problem. He is self important, controlling, and demanding over her. Lets not forget he cheated too and was lying to her. I do not apreciate the way he spoke to her at allllllllll it made my fight or flight go CRAZY! and im honestly glad she left before he had the chance to yell at her about smthn else later on because i can smell it from here the kind of partner he is...
I’m glad you picked up on Renee in the girls quarters, I was sad we didn’t get to see more of her cause she seemed like fun. I do enjoy more time in the pods so we can see more of the foundations, but I hadn’t thought about the implications for the rest of the series… only 3 engaged couples did surprise me though, so with less people to follow after the pods it might even out a bit.
someone said somewhere that Aaliyah is a very avoidant person, and has trouble with accountability. She doesn’t ever want to deal with the fallout or consequences of her actions. I hadn’t thought about it like that, but with the way she had never told her partner that she had cheated, and with the way she just left the experiment without explaining to Uche, it makes sense. I am very interested to see how that meet up lunch goes between them. that being said, I definitely think leaving on Aaliyah’s part was a good decision, bc the mess that Uche and Lydia put her in was wayyy too much. (edit- misspelled Lydia’s name.)
Honestly, I do like that they are showing us more about what happened in the pods, and I think it was important to do so considering all the drama that is happening in the pods. Like they knew we were going to need context for a lot of whatever happens after the pods. So much is happening. We got love squares. We got exes. We got fake friends. We got second choices, and who knows what else is gonna happen before we see them go to the vacation honeymoon trip. I’m liking this season so far. I like Stacy, I do not like Johnie or Lydia. I’m unsure about Izzy, but I do like Chris. I don’t really like Uche either. I expect more red flags.
I feel like they focused on the pod part more, because only three couples got engaged so it's harder to fill out episodes with less content? Like we used to switch perspectives nearly double the amount that we will this season, so I feel like there the pods had the most people to talk about and showcase. Plus the pods were MESSY this time around!!
I dont feel like lydiah and uche having a past is a big of a deal that the show makes it out to be. Expect that lydiah doesn't seem over it at all but uche does seem like hes done with her and was into Aaliyah. But im also glad aaliyah left because lydiah did seem a bit shady there.
This season isn't vibing with me. Not yet anyway. I absolutely hated the way usme talked to aliyah. Jp and Taylor are weird as fuck. Rooting for Milton... but not with Lydia. So far I'm not interested in anyone. 😢
I kinda felt bad for johnie… Izzy basically told her to choose him and so she broke off her other relationship just for him to break up with her… Ik she wasn’t an angel but she was legit misled and I feel like I wouldn’t want to be with Izzy for judging me for something I did 7 years ago
@@JTrys the conversation before she broke things off with Chris he and her had a conversation that in my opinion is what prompted her to do so. He word for word said “so question so far with where we’re at do you see yourself with me? I don’t want names or anything specified but I want to know how much is left with you…… I need someone vulnerable….. I want you to at the end of this say dude I fucking want you.” And she said it’s you I want you which to me indicated the start of a you are my number 1 convo he never said I have someone else I have a stronger connection with but I want to be with you and he told her the whole Jehovah witness story, which he said he had never told anybody else, so I could see why she would think he was trying to lock her down in that moment. And then he kind of also brought it home when the conversation that they had after she broke up with Chris, he was talking about when she sees him not if… But that’s just my opinion
Yeah, you describing how Lydia was literally “begging Milton”shows how its not so much about her ego, but instead her lack of it. Lydia to me seems like someone who has pretty low selfesteem. One that prevents her from getting in her own damn way.
Noooo, Barnett and Amber were fiiiire, she jumped on him, they were all over each other. I feel like Izzy is happy with Stacy but she's kinda like... not as excited
I think they are playing with the formula especially after 5 years. Lydia is a bit diabolical. Also, the producers controlled when they could say anything.

I don’t understand why we Stan Chris for taking his amazing stance but all love and adore Bliss and Zach when Zach did literally the same thing johnnie did .. is just because we don’t like Irina? And to that point .. bliss to me seems like she did it all for tv .. great she and Zach seem happy af, doesn’t mean she’s not a clout chaser just like him. But honestly I don’t like Johnnie so I’m glad Chris stood up for himself but I just find it weird that people stab Zach and bliss but when johnnie acted like Zach it’s not taken the same.
I didn't think Bliss should've accepted Zach's proposal on the boat that day, I'm glad they're happy today though and I think Johnie and Chris could've been happy together as well even though I'm glad he stood his ground. It's a difficult thing, knowing when to forgive and forget, and Bliss did say she had a hard time letting it go. I think Chris may have been 1. angry at being deceived but also 2. lived with Izzy and saw him as someone Johnie could still fall for when they all go on the vacation, maybe? Whilst Bliss missed the vacation and knew what Irina was like, that Zach did make the wrong choice and would regret it. Okay this got a bit messy, I just think it's complicated, I didn't understand why people were happy for Zach and Bliss either but I think the "second choice" both had very different views of their situations.
I think the two situations are a little different. I think Johnnie dealt with it a little immature. She was rejected and went to her second option not out of love but ego. Zach did the same but I think that he went back to Bliss because he felt like he genuinely made the wrong decision. He did have feelings for Bliss. Johnnie doesn't seem to have any deep feelings for Chris, besides enjoying the attention from him.
Does it really matter that you think Zach and Bliss accepted the proposal. They are happy now. I honestly don't think it is wrong to be someones second choice. In real life we are always going to be someone's second choice. It is just the speed of the show that made it weird.@@carrained
