2019 10.17. I grew up along the banks of the C&O canal at the Old Town Maryland level. My childhood was spent fishing swimming and ice skating there. Countless hours. I have walked or biked every inch of the canal from Cumberland Maryland to Pawpaw West Virginia. Walked some of it at the Hancock level and in Georgetown. Was always a dream of mine to walk the whole way never did it. Think I might be a little long in the tooth now to try. Growing up in Old Town along the canal during the sixties and seventies was splendid.

Bob, probably, most people won't relate, I've been canoeing the Potomac since 1990 until now. I have had a few stops in Old Town getting out at Hancock. This year I'm ditching my 30 year old canoe and I'm biking it! And bet that was a splendid time growing up on those hot summer days.....

Who told you Cumberland wasn't a major town? It's called the "Queen City" because during boom time, it was the second largest city in Maryland.
