  • I know it’s only the end of January, but trust me when I tell you Maddie Ziegler’s new movie is a special one. I had the opportunity to catch The Fallout at SXSW 2021, and the movie has been on my mind ever since. Had it received a 2021 release, it likely would have been a favorite of the year. Now I'm hopeful that will happen in 2022.
    The film marks Megan Park’s feature screenwriting and directing debut. Ziegler stars alongside Jenna Ortega as Mia and Vada, respectively. The two aren’t especially close, but when they find themselves in the high school restroom together during a shooting, the shared experience sparks a strong connection that plays a significant role in their efforts to cope with what happened, move in new directions, and attempt to forge forward.
    Ziegler’s got a staggering list of accomplishments for someone who’s only 19-years-old, and she shows no signs of slowing down while trying to make the most of both of her passions, dancing and acting. On this episode of Collider Ladies Night, Ziegler looks back on her journey with Dance Moms, discovering her passion for acting, scoring a role in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, working with Ortega on The Fallout, and so much more!

    Maddie has became such a good actress she was insane, I think she’s going to have such a successful career. It’s normal for young stars to progress into other things from how they started, just like how Selene and Miley went into more singing than acting as they got older.

    I absolutely loved this movie, the chemistry between Maddie and Jenna was incredible. This movie could 100% be made into a series, and if it is, I seriously hope they keep Maddie and Jenna for these roles. The whole thing was outstanding and definitely something that needs to be talked about more

    This movie was phenomenal in my opinion, I got to read some of the scripts beforehand and I knew from the moment I read them that it was gonna be incredible. Maddie did better then I could have ever imagined and I couldn’t see anyone else for the part of Mia, Jenna also did fantastic as ever and the chemistry between the two was so incredible to watch. It’s one of my new favorite movies for sure. Everything about it is so moving and amazing and I could have watch it over and over again. I love your interviews more than anything btw

    While I had issues with the film itself, the acting certainly wasn't one of them. Ziegler deserves as much praise as Ortega. They were equally impressive in The Fallout.

      I wouldnt say equally impressive, Jenna is a whole other level than Maddie rn (Jenna´s role involved much more acting and she has way more experience), but she was REALLY good and her improvement is INSANE, she blew my mind. It wouldnt surprise me if, in a near future she were to be equally as impressive as Jenna or other first level actors her age such McKenna Grace, Millie Bobby Brown, etc. I´m thankful she named her acting coach, bcs she deserves praise too, Maddie went from not being that good, to being extremely good in a couple years. I gotta say, I had my doubts about her acting next to sb like Jenna, considering the last time we saw Maddie act, it wasnt the best, but she really fit in, I was sooo impressed she kept up with the rest of the cast, who most of them had much more experience

      @@YenellyT Yeah I agree 100%! Hopefully my comment was clear, I wanted to say how incredible Maddie was and how much she had improved, but Jenna considering her experience was better, but in no time Maddie will catch up with her, if she continues improving like this

    I was incredibly impressed by her in The Fallout! I went from not really paying much attention her to being a big fan. She's so well-spoken and has such a mature presence. I think she and Jenna did an absolutely phenomenal job portraying such real, honest, and genuine emotions of love, fear, loneliness, grief, and connection. It seems to come very naturally to her and their chemistry was spot on. She's really come a long way and I can't wait to see where her acting career takes her!

    "Dance 'til I die, that's it..."
    I love that. I love seeing passion in artists.
    I'm hardly an expert on dance, but I remember Zeigler in those Sia videos, and she's brilliant. It's really nice to see her growing up to be an intelligent, articulate young actress as well. Still haven't seen Spielberg's "West Side Story", but I've heard from people-whose-opinions-I-respect that it's amazing.
    Lovely interview, Perri. Always cool to hear your insights. I've been a fan since the days of "Collider Movie Talk".

    God, Maddie's passion is extraordinary. I feel like a different person 10 minutes in just listening to her and watching her express. Life. It's super contagious. And Mia hit me so much deeper than Jenna's character even though she was the lead and she was fantastic. Something about Mia's silence spoke to me, I can relate to her a lot and the more she feels the less she speaks and we have the same instinct. I'm a lot older than her but I needed that. Someone to tell me that it's OK to help yourself rather than asking for help. Thank you sweetheart.

      This is something that can be chalked up to nerves definitely. She is only 19 and the spotlight is on her in a way it hasn't been before. I'd be having anxiety attacks if I were in her shoes.

      Jenna was amazing and has way more experience than Maddie, but I truly think Maddie held her own. She did a good job 👏

    • @tiffanydening4301
      @tiffanydening4301 2 роки тому +10

      Maddie has such little experience with acting in comparison to Jenna, it's unfair to compare them. Not only that, but Maddies character was supposed to be more reserved and reluctant to share her feelings. So if she wasn't as emotional as Jenna, that's because her character wasn't supposed be like that.

    • @weasley2o13
      @weasley2o13 2 роки тому +7

      I have watched (and documented my thoughts on) 275 films in the past 2 years, watched thousands of trailers and interviews / analysis / commentaries and I can tell you that watching the trailer, not yet the movie, I thought Jenna was fantastic but it was Maddie I couldn't get out of my head hours, days after watching it. That means something. It means a lot, actually. So maybe she's not as horrible an actress as you are a horrible watcher. Just a thought...
