  • Ottoman Ukraine (Ukrainian: Османська Україна), Khan Ukraine (Ukrainian: Ханська Україна, Romanian: Ucraina Hanului), Hanshchyna (Ukrainian: Ганьщина) is an historical term for right-bank Ukraine (as well as for the southern regions of the Kiev Voivodeship) - also known by its Turkic name Yedisan.
The territory appeared as a consequence of the 1667 Truce of Andrusovo, which divided the Cossack Hetmanate, without consideration of the local Ukrainian/Cossack population between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Tsardom of Moscow. Since 1669, the Ottoman authorities granted protectorate to the Cossack statehood west of the Dnieper and designated it into a separate Sanjak (District) which was headed by Cossack Hetman Petro Doroshenko. It was confirmed by the Treaty of Buchach in 1672.

Dude, actually Tatars are Turkish in origin. They come from the Kipchak descendants of the Turks. In the past, they were two communities as Cuman and Kipchak. As the Cumans moved into Europe (as they migrated), the connection between them and the other Turanian tribes with which they were related, broke down. Some disappeared among the Slavic and other societies. Some spontaneously assimilated and disappeared. Kipchaks remained in eastern Europe. In the 11th-12th centuries, they established a lot of association with Mongolian expeditions and Mongolian societies. They are Turkish. But due to cultural interaction, they have both Mongolian and Turkish traditions. In addition, if the Kayı dynasty (Ottoman Dynasty) disappears, the lineage also disappears. Giray dynasty, Tatar dynasty. It was the only Turkish dynasty with the authority to ascend to the Ottoman throne.

Poland’s Winged Knights: From Invincible Glory To Obsolescence
There used to be some doubts whether the famous wings of the hussars were actually used for battle and not only for parades, but historical research has shown that indeed they were. The sight of the wings (wooden slats with attached eagle, falcon or vulture feathers) that the riders sometimes fastened to their backs, would scare off enemy horses. The predator skins were meant to spook enemy soldiers, as did the red warpaint put on the steed. All in all, the hussars must’ve been quite a sight.

The author of this video has simplified the History a lot and has mixed up scenes from different movies that have nothing to do with the True History. The author used fragments of films in which the Polish-Lithuanian army fights with the Army of Duchy of Moscow in 1610 ... where there were no Ottomans, then scenes from the defense of Vienna by King Jan III Sobieski in 1683, where the Polish-Lithuanian army with Winged Husars defeated the Ottoman Army and from then , the Ottomans admiringly called Sobieski the Lion of Lechistan (Poland). The scenes from the films are so cut that they suggest constant defeats of the Polish-Lithuanian army, which was not true, including the Winged Husars, which were the terror for Turks. Petro Doroshenko, like Sobieski, and most of the people in the Army of the Commonwealth were Ruthenians (not to be confused with Russians, i.e. earlier Muscovites) and a Polish-Ruthenian nobleman in the service of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1660 to 1666, but in 1666 he made a pact with the Tatars, but already in 1667 he went back to the Polish-Lithuanian side after the defeat of the Cossack-Tatar army at Pidhaitsi. Then he again betrayed the Commonwealth in 1668 and finally, after many defeats and repeated beatings by Crown Hetman Sobieski, in 1676 he surrendered to Moscow, which took under the protectorate of part of Ruthenia belonging to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (now Ukraine).

The sultan would accept the congratulations of the diplomats of all countries at the feast ceremonies and ask, "Where is the Polish ambassador?" The sultan was answered, "Sir, they will come on the way." Do you know that there is a Polish village in Istanbul? The Turks were defeated in Vienna, not because of Sobieski's heroism, but as a result of the Crimean Khan's treachery without help. The Turks helped the Germans in the first world war. The Russians could not occupy Austria-Hungary. 33,000 Turkish soldiers were martyred around Lviv. There are cemeteries.

@@yakupkeser248 The Turks were defeated near Vienna due to the fact that Sobieski had experience in fighting Tatars and Turks in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and indirectly betrayed the Crimean Tatars for this reason. It is wrong to say that the Tartars betrayed without reason and that is why the Sultan lost, without the Tartars or with them he also lost. How did the Ottomans lose? 1. Sobieski deployed his troops on the hills of the Vienna Woods, which the Turks did not expect, because it was impossible to drag heavy cavalry and cannons to the hill. 2 Then Sobieski sent infantry to reconnoiter. 3 Then Sobieski sent light cavalry to check if there were no ditches and traps in the foregrounds leading to the Sultan's army. Finally, he sent a heavy cavalry of the Hussars, which the Tatars were terribly afraid of. Then after the defeat, the defeated Tatars fled and the Sipahi followed them. The 4th Polish cavalry, and the German and Austrian cavalry launched a charge together with a total of 20,000 on the Ottoman Army, smashing them. The first to escape were the Janissaries, followed by the Vizier with his entourage. According to witnesses, the Sultan burst into tears when he saw the Hussars, who should not be in Austria, demolishing his beloved army. The Polish Winged Hussars was not an ordinary heavy cavalry like the German or Austrian cavalry. It was feared by all those who waged wars with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Turks, Muscovites and Swedes. When recruiting, the Swedish infantry demanded a clause that they would fight with everyone except the Hussars. The Crimean Tatars were to the Ottomans what the Cossacks were to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Initially, the Cossacks were a military-organized population of various origins on the border of Ruthenia and the Crimean Khanate, whose task was to defend the borderland against the Tartars who robbed the Ruthenian lands and took the local population into jasyr (slaves) which they sold in Istanbul (former Constantinople). The Tatars led to the depopulation of these areas. However, the Tatars were mercenaries just like the Cossacks, so both served periodically the Sultan and the King of Poland and then the Republic of Poland. Muslim Tatars who are Polish patriots have been living in Poland since the 17th century, they also settled in Lithuania.

Ethnic Ruthenian (Catholic) nobility in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the territory of present-day Ukraine were called Poles, Ruthenians from present-day Belarus and ethnic Lithuania were called Lithuanians. Tatars (being ethnically a Turkic nation) were people who were generally of Mongolian origin and had slanted eyes and had nothing to do with the Turkic peoples, especially with the original Tatars.

It is incorrect to consider the Zaporozhye Cossacks as Ukrainians; the ethnic composition of the Cossacks was very diverse. And at the beginning of the 20th century, Little Russians who lived in Little Russia were called Ukrainians. Little Russia was formed at the end of the 18th century when the Cossacks went to the Kuban, and Kuban is Russia. Ukraine and Ukrainians emerged from Little Russia, and the Zaporozhye Cossacks by the time Little Russia was formed were already actively moving to the Crimea and Kuban.

In 1651, Gondius made an engraving that became the most famous lifetime portrait of Hetman B. Khmelnytskyi "Bohdan Chmielnicki Exercitus Zaporovieñ. Præfectus, Belli Servilis Autor Rebelliumq. Beauplan negotiated this work with Gondius on his way home from Ukraine at the end of March 1647. The general map of Ukraine without the image of the Crimean Peninsula was issued in 1648.
From the beginning of the 1630s until 1647, Guillaume Beauplan was in Polish service, mainly on the territory of Ukraine, in 1637-1638 he took part in Koniecpolsky's campaign on Pavliuk and Ostryanytsia. Gondius made several other engravings of maps of Ukraine. These were maps decorated with coats of arms and drawings with figures of Ukrainian, Polish and Turkish soldiers. *1650 "Special (topographical) map of Ukraine" by Guillaume Beauplan. The Ottoman-Polish wars in the 17th century, no doubt, were a zero sum game for both parites. At the end of the day, Russia, Austria and Prussia have benefitted from these conflicts and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth were divided among these kingdoms. Poland made some fatal mistakes as it overtrusted and leaned on the Habsburg power against the Turks. It was the Turkic balance of power to keep Poland standing against both Russian and Germanic rules, which later on destroyed the Polish Kingdom. Whenever the Ottoman horses drink the water of Wisla river once again, then Poland would be saved from the partition. An old Polish saying put the geopolitical reality as the Polish envoy requested the Ottoman help from the Sultan in the late 18th century. The Ottoman Empire was the only state then, which never recognized the partition of Poland although the Polish garrison led by Jean Sobieskiy prevented the Ottoman conquest of Vienna a century before. Adam Miskiewicz, a Polish diplomat and poet in the 19th century Ottoman İstanbul, knew all these realities and supported the full-fledged Turco-Polska alliance.
So, we are happy to see that our cooperation is increasing again with the endeavors of Erdoğan and Duda leaderships now a-days. Greetings from Turkey to our oldest friend and brave enemy in Europe, Lehistan!

NATO without Turkiye is just nothing! Turkiye is the second largest army in this alliance and has been very active within its overseas operations, such as Afghanistan, Kosova and the Red Sea. If Turkey will be out of NATO, the organization is doomed to collapse and not capable to counter or tackle with security problems in and around Afro-Eurasia. So it is a futile argument to object to Turkiye in NATO, in which most of the members need to Turkiye's contributions and guarantees against conventional and non-conventional security threats...

The Turks have constantly been an imperial people. They have made a habit of empire building, and although none of their structures have attained the imposing dimensions of the Mongol achievement, many of them have been far more lasting. The maps show at least a dozen states of the first rank which have been constructed by Turkish peoples, and another dozen built by Turkish leaders, sometimes by themselves, sometimes with the assistance of a military aristocracy of their own race.

Hello thanks for sharing , but this is incredibly funny looking how heavy armed polish cavalery "winged hussars" are slined by peasansts with sabers. At start , saber have no chance to penetrate chainmail, so how worster against plate armor? Second , in thier time, handguns have no chance with charging hussars, just historcal based things. I saying this becouse in this montage, polish hussars are depicted as an ordinary mob. They was used like special forces in thier time, often using tactic based on mongolians cavalery , also they using tactic and they moslty charing wisly, with good picked ground. Only with poor maneuvering did they suffer heavy losses, attacking uphill or on fortified positions, usually losses in their ranks were not great in relation to the enemy.

Two hundred years ago, did people determine their ethnicity based on genetic tests? All Ottoman Sultans, from the first to the last, spoke Turkish, most used the title of Khan, continued many ancient Turkic traditions, Europeans referred to them as Turks and not as Ottomans. You say Latin for Western Rome and Greek for Eastern Rome. When it comes to the Ottoman Empire, you ignore Turks and emphasize the ethnic diversity within the empire.

Tak naprawdę najbardziej interesują mnie te lata w historii Imperium Osmańskiego. W rzeczywistości Polska i Imperium Osmańskie były państwami o bliskim sojuszu. Przeszkadzały one jednak w zrozumieniu administracji Rosjan i Niemców, wywierając pewną presję na państwo polskie. Król Sobieski doszedł do władzy dzięki Rosjanom i Niemcom. A w zamian za to 2. Dał kopa Imperium Osmańskiemu podczas oblężenia Wiednia. Więc co było dalej? Niektórzy zdrajcy pracujący dla Rosjan i Brytyjczyków w Imperium Osmańskim wpłynęli na sułtana i doprowadzili do egzekucji Wielkiego Osmańskiego Paszy i jego wielkiego wezyra, Köprülü Kara Mustafy Paszy. Osmanowie doświadczyli wielkiego odwrotu. I nadszedł czas, aby sojusz niemiecko-rosyjski zniszczył Polskę. SELAM ALEJKUM ❤🇹🇷🇵🇱❤

Gondius engraved a map of Ukraine on eight sheets, the author of which was the royal cartographer and fortifier Guillaume Beauplan.
Full title: "Delineatio specialis et accurata Ukrainae. Cum suis Palatinatibus ac Distictibq, Provincycq adiacentibus" ("Special and detailed plan of Ukraine together with voivodeships, districts and provinces belonging to it").
