Just wanted to give a huge thanks for actually explaining the different shafts and getting into to detail with swing speeds etc. just picked up the LTDx in 2024 with the RDX shaft and I’m hitting farther and straighter than I ever have! More than well earned subscription!
The Smoke iM seems to be the best fit for me after testing the RDX this weekend. This Cobra LTDx is the sleeper driver of the year. TM Stealth and Callaway Rogue ST may get all the publicity, but this Cobra is fantastic.
A little late to this, but just bought the LTDx with the Smoke IM10 as my first driver upgrade during a sale today. Great review video, definitely helped when purchasing the LTDx driver. Have been following since I started golfing. Your reviews are so full of information and you're just a great personality to watch on UA-cam.
After the first swing I said to myself, wow he's got one of the smoothest 280 + yard swings I've ever seen. Then I stayed to the end of the video and had to laugh a bit when you mentioned it.
I recently was fitted for this driver. Came with the smoke IM until my Ventus Black Velocore arrived. I hit it quite well with the smoke, averaging right at 272 carry almost every swing, but my spin was always 2700-2800. The Ventus Black with Velocore knocked it down to 2100/2200 and added some carry. Exactly what I saw in the fitting. Honestly I could have gamed the smoke IM as it was pretty easy to control the release of it.
Great tip to reiterate over and over for when I do it I'm successful but when I think I'm smarter than the stats and try to speed things up to gain 5 yards like you said it gets Inconsistent. Nice & Smooth back swing to alignment and speed on the downswing is the ticket. It helps my scores every time, I'm a 9 HC
Love the video. Had a fitting a week ago and have the LTDx on order with the hazardous blue Rdx shaft. Sorted launch and spin giving an average extra 10 yards over my old driver
I’m thinking of changing shafts on my F9. This helps. The Hazrdus product seems to be where I need to look when fitting. My udi 2 iron has a smoke shaft that I love. Thanks. Good knowledge. Better than gripping and ripping. Nice driver swing tip.
Excellent video and comparison, as usual. I just replaced my Atmos Blue Tour Spec with a Hzrdus Smoke Black in my Cobra F9. I can't wait to hit it in a few days.
Fast take away and jumping at it from the top can cause a double flexing of shaft. So I have heard. When jerky at the top it loads the shaft. Then it unloads and loads again. I used to do this this when I was younger. I think so anyway. That is what a pro told me happens. Any truth to that? I like shaft videos. I believe proper shaft fitting is far more important than the head. ANd when you happen to stumble into your perfect shaft....
Great video Michael. It shows how it’s worth getting fitted and trying different shafts. Although I’m not a “bomber” I generally find more consistency in a stiffer, heavier shaft than my speed (95mph) would suggest. I should be borderline on regular/stiff but cannot get consistent strike patterns on the face with the softer flex
Interestingly I had a demo day Stealth fitting yesterday. Normally I swing around 95 mph but as I trying to implement a swing change I have slowed a little until the change is a bit more grooved. According to TM rep it is around a 90 mph swing, rather than 95 mph, that they start moving into a stiff flex. I found the best shaft for me was lighter (50g) than I have used in the past but in a stiff flex
Go stiff. I was at the same point with my swing speed but the stiff shaft was far more consistent. As I’ve gotten better I appreciate that decision more and more
That was a great video, very interesting , just the way you thought it would work it did ! proof right there that getting fitted and feeling comfortable totally matters!, Thank you Mike!
Not everyone does better by slowing down their transition. Whenever I try to slow down my transition the results are always worse. My natural swing is a very quick and agressive transition but I hit the middle of the face. John Rahm, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have fast to super fast transitions and they are 3 of the best drivers of the ball to ever live! If it was better to have slow and smooth transitions for everyone they would have changed their swings a long time ago.
Getting the right shaft for your driver is important to me because you can do more damage with that one by setting up your next 4 or 5 shots by being all over the place. I ended up with an Evenflow Riptide CB, 50 gram regular flex for my F9 driver during Christmas and can’t wait to get it out on the course.
Great video. Curious if you know if the RDX smoke blue and the Tensei AV raw white offered in the LTDx LS are the real deal shafts or made for cobra imitations?
Great video with helpful information on shafts. FOR ME, I found if I set up square then pull the trail foot back (hips closed a tad and shoulders square) about 6 inches I get a bigger turn and more distance with the same swing tempo.
@@MichaelNewtonGolf Michael: What do you think of the Alidia Rouge Silver 110 stiff shaft in this Cobra LTDX driver...Would this produce mid to high launch or not???? I like to match my driver shafts with my 3 WD shafts if possible....
Brilliant video.. I find it amazing how different shot patterns are caused by different shafts . Can anyone advise me what shaft is best for 90mph swing speed .?
Honestly, it`s best to test them yourself. Each player will react differently to each shaft. So you can`t really say it`s one size fits all swing speeds. Weight and feel are very important factors the swing speed alone can`t define.
Too many variables. Shaft length will likely matter too. Best option is probably to get fit after knocking off the winter rust with a few rounds or range sessions.
Long time subscriber and the content is always good. One thing that has always had me curious is why the quick little edit before every swing? Is that stylistic or? Not sure if it's ever be asked about before.
@@MichaelNewtonGolf Makes sense to streamline things a bit. By the by, just ordered the LTDx LS Limited Edition driver that was announced on the 18th. Completely blacked-out makes the LTDx driver look amazing!
Great review, Mike. Love your content and analysis on this subject. I game a Cobra Speedzone with stock Tensei stiff shaft and would like to know your thoughts about changing it for a 3 wood or 5 wood shaft for greater consistency of FIR. Have you ever done this?
Your launch numbers are nearly ideal w/RDX. The IM however is still far better than average. What I found most interesting and curious is you’re missing both nearly identical, a few mm’s on toe yet results are very different. It actually appears the IM is lower torque, at least in tip. Missing on toe, w/o any shaft twist, the face roll should put ccw spin turning ball left. Not seeing your path numbers, this is exactly what occurred with IM. Nearly identical miss w/RDX, there’s no apparent curvature, no gear effect. Did the tip twist eliminating the gear effect? The RDX is supposedly lower launch profile yet it’s fractionally higher launch than IM, again supporting a theory that tip is twisting leaving face slightly open. Just interesting launch data though obviously it’s splitting hairs given the results w/RDX. As an aside, I think you’ve mentioned you play Tensei 1k white in your gamer, a shaft I too liked and gamed as demo for 3 rounds. I however ended up w/Speeder NX 6X in my ST220-G. Incredibly stable tip yet great feel, not wooden. Worth a demo if you get a chance.

LTDx + RDX 🔵 is an amazing combo! It was by far the best for me, easy to hit straight and fast! I ordered it! It's the true 🦄 of 2022
did you test it against the stock Tensei white too ? and if so, was better ?
What this shows is a very good swing that best works with a low launch stiffer shaft. This guy can play with anything, smooth ,great tempo.
i wish more folks did this with shafts. helps make a fitting more effective
Need more of these shaft testing videos!

Are cobra sleepers anymore? Pretty good gear for a few years now.
@@garyverth4887 That's fair. I guess they somewhat get overlooked in favor of the "Big 4" brands, when they are every bit as good, if not better.
Coming in at $100 cheaper than the Stealth I felt it had much better feel with similar performance.
Sleeper driver of this decade, absolute game changer

Great tip about tempo and slowing the back swing. I use this for the driver and irons as well.
I'm really liking the rdx blue in my radspeed. Added 4g to the head to raise the sw a bit and it's been great.

All the Hzrdus and Smoke shafts are the real deal, no water down versions of the originals as TM did with the Ventus.
How does the swing weight change and affect the feel with these different shafts?
Great review. Would've liked to have seen peak height as well. Thank you!
I'd kill to hit the ball that far. I have the Cobra LTDx but I use the Sr flex Helium shaft due to my age and swing speed.
On the website the 6.0 and the 6.5 RDX have all the same specs? Why
Speeder 661 tr is my fav shaft
