Shroud is by far the most sadistic and creepy spirit out there. When you play with a shroud player, your board has some lands clear, some lands with Cities and towns. Then you take a look at the shroud players board, and you see the pain and agony of wounded cities, towns and dahan on every land. He does not grant his victims the mercy of death. They suffer indefinitely.
I am honestly so excited to have these. I am begging you, you guys need to make one of these for each spirit. They are JUST detailed enough to give us a good understanding of how to play them, but JUST open enough to leave room for making our own strategies. Love this series!
I find that if you play Shroud well, it really makes other players uneasy as well. "Um... are you going to finish those off?" **points to wounded towns and cities in lands with your presence** "... No..." 😁
Shroud is a real brain-burner, but boy it is fun to have the little mini-game of every single power being a chance to reposition your presence, even if you don't need to to use that power. Whether it's to get more damage out of its powers that scale as you further surround a land, return presence to a damaged set of buildings to keep them from healing, make a Sacred Site when needed, or dodge a blight that will happen in the Ravage step, it's very versatile but really makes you think about the order of your actions. Shroud's ability to gather a presence from another spirit and protect all presence from destruction in a land for a turn is actually surprisingly useful. Getting Stone into a new land, pulling Ocean back out of the water to drown invaders on the coast after it reclaims, or guarding a big chunk of presence against Downward Spiral or the Blighted Island halves of events can make a surprising difference for 0 energy.
These videos have such huge value to me... as a novice player on games with experienced players, they make me feel connected to the lore and more comfortable trying new spirits. I think I'll be buying my own copy of the game :)
Shroud is my favorite by far. 5:08 I always set the goal at 6 for the fear and 2 energy. At that point with 2 energy gain from the track I often start using the second growth option to cover my board and start spreading into others rapidly. Late game if built up you can clear your board easily with suffocating shroud but also help neighbors in fun ways. Moving presence of another spirit with flowing and silent forms dart by to set up a better attack or avoid presence loss. On one occasion I used the 3rd growth to place a presence at range and then moved another into the same location to create a holy site to use a defend power stopping a game ending ravage.
Thematically more like these please. This one is downright Eldridge. It and Bringer of Dreams are my favorite just because of the existential horror they bring. Ps. Can we get one that's like "The forest's mocking voice" that's all about parrots? That would be fun. Maybe focusses on strife and push/pull. Could have reactions to what they are push/pulled into. "if pulled into a (insert token type) do X damage). Just my fan crafting.
Love this one. I feel like whoever wrote the script really was excited about this spirit. All the videos are great but I think that this spirit might hold a special place for them. And if not, great writing!
I love every one of these. ...but there was such a large gap of time. And suddenly they're back again. It could be Fractured Days or... ... Is something coming?
Hey! If you’re wondering how to play this spirit, think about what your skills are most effective at dealing with: In the beginning, you have nothing that deals with towns/cities in 1 turn. You have 1 card that solves a single ravage location when 2 locations will be ravaging. This means you should try to clear the explorers in the slow phase before they get around to building. I advise against focusing on slow & silent death in the early game. Let it come naturally & use it to deal with towns that inevitably get built that you have to deal with over multiple turns.
Goddd this sounds fun. Keeping Invaders just barely alive to torment them for fear, geez! Sounds really complex to manage, but an absolute fear powerhouse if you do it right. Hope I can get my hands on it in digital eventually!
Still no mentions on that last bit of beautiful prose? "Seep through the cracks Flow through field and forest And enfold the land in a blanket of slow decay Their houses are no barrier Send your tendrils creeping through windows at night to lightly touch the sleeping lives within Steal the breath from their lungs Sap the strength of their limbs And muffle their cries" I see you GtG, that was ART.
What is this background song? It's so creepy. I love it and really want to use it as background atmospheric music while I play, but I don't know how to find it.
Someone deserves a raise for these videos. So great.
Sure hope its the guy voicing it and the editor

Best spirit in the game 😍
I second this motion!
I will love playing this character
We just bought Jagged Earth yesterday and haven't played yet but the Dahan not being able to heal seems brutal.

I know better than to get my hopes up for news on more SI content but these videos have me excited

I love Shroud, one of my favorite new Spirits. :D

Exceptional work as always.
Please keep making these.
Thanks for the video. Shroud is a very unsettling spirit that is definitely not a good guy spirit.
I love every one of these.

It could be Fractured Days or...
... Is something coming?
Even scarier, the spirit known as "Manager Who Cuts Your Funding" o.O
I don't know how I missed this, amazing as always.
I wish they adapt Jagged Earth to digital asap
