Wow, that sounds like an incredibly intense experience! I’m really glad to hear that you and your passenger are okay after such a serious crash. Huge thanks to BMW engineers for building such a safe car. It’s a reminder of how quickly things can go wrong on the track, even with the best preparations. Kudos to the emergency personnel and the hospital staff for their quick response and care. And a special shoutout to the random guy who helped out with water instead of posting insensitive footage. Wishing you both a speedy recovery!
That was the definition of "Tell me you're a wicked fast driver, without saying you're a wicked fast driver". Not overtaken until the very end!! Fantastic!! Hopefully I get to see the outside view of the UP passing the bike and Saab after Brunnchen 😍
This problem also occurs in the Up TSi manufactured here in Brazil. 4 doors, rear windows open entirely by cranks, 285-liter trunk and larger in length, 50-liter fuel tank. Traction control is also impossible to turn off. EA-211 R3 TOTALFLEX. Gasoline or Fuel alcohol from sugar cane. 101 cv with Gasoline and 105 cv with Alcohol. Max speed is 183 km/h and 0-100 km/h in 9,4 seconds.
I have a up gti and I fixed the traction control by wiring a button to the tc fuse. Works perfectly but it disables abs as well so keep that in mind. For me that’s not a problem because I drive it all the time lot on gravel and abs on gravel is terrible
There's a solution to turn off TC by adding an additional switch. A retrofit friend of mine sells the service for around €200 including the switch and stuff. Great mod to add to this little beast and any other Up! owner for that matter.
@@happy_keats well, first of all the brazilian has roll down windows in the rear, which we do not have in europe. The door to the bagage, is all glass in Europe, while in Brazil it is half steel. I like small hatches, wish we had the UP gti in the states. Not being able to turn the traction control off really hurts a car designed for enthusiasts tho. with like 109hp, it really doesnt even need traction control and it would prevent me (and probably many others) from actually buying it.
There is a way to deactivate it on jetta's but idk on this one... (ignition on, put the hazerds then press the gas pedal 5 times and then it will do a sound. So you now start the engine and remove the hazards.)

BUT do this yea at your own risk.
Used to deliver pizzas in a TSI, when I wanted to go fast I would take out the TC fuse ,its on the battery under the hood. After that you could do pretty much anything
LF perfomance does these high revving litre tsi up to 300whp, could have been a nice slayer. I wonder if they could handle the oil temps on the ring :D
It's a shame that you can't turn off ESP and TC in the GTI. PS I have e-up! and has problems with traction whenever I try to quickly join traffic from a cross road and TC aditional slowdawn car. Despite my liking for this car, I would now choose the Smart EQ Forfour with RWD.
Very interesting to see 👍Absolutely my thoughts about my car. " why?" It makes no sense to me. You want to turn and the car goes straight, because the esp is hammering in. This is not fun. It is dangerous. On the other hand i'm asking myself, if the car would be significantly faster with the esp turned off.
