I have limited time to dedicate to d2r this will be my main build. Highest character I had back in the day was a 73 fire claw bear. Very excited to make this a level 99 character. Thanks mrllamasc.
I see no point in using summons, so I just ignore them. If I need some "help", Mind Blast fixes that lol. Also, I always leave DS for the last. Reason? Fire Blast is better, not only you gain another source of damage sooner (for lighting immunities), but you also increase the main focus of DS, the Corpse Explosion. Maxing out DS after you max out the rest is the way to go. Also, 65 fcr is more than enough, which opens the door for two SOJs. The extra mana is really welcome when you're teleporting around. So I always use a coronet with +2 to S and 20 fcr with some res if possible. Great guide Mrllama! 👍🏻💪🏻
As he mentioned, I highly recommend maxing Fire Blast right after Death Sentry and Lightening sentry. Reasons: Lightning res mobs will be your biggest issue when you hit Hell. You will begin relying heavily on your Death Sentry as the explosions are Fire and Physical damage. Fire Blast will boost Death sentry damage, as well as provide a Fire source of damage to use (while your Shadow Master tanks). Once you're able to kill one monster using Fire Blast the rest will pop thanks to Death Sentry. If you are facing a Fire & Lightening resistant monster, it's usually better just to run past it. You can also try to make use of a Lower Resist wand, as he recommends since it will break lightning resistance. I personally didn't have much success using the lower resist wand method; it might take someone who has more functional talent such as MrLlamaSC.
Some other tips that might help with the rest of Hell: - don’t bother with hell until at least like level 70. Just farm gear from nightmare. - boosting your resistance takes priority over damage (+ skills) if any resistance is below 20%. - Don’t bother with merc (unless you can gear him out). Just put one point in shadow master. Costs too much to keep reviving emelio, you’ll go broke. - The most difficult fights in hell will probably be act 3 travincal and act 5 ancients. Two strategies to help both: 1. Try using a lower resist wand to boost dmg. 2. If you still can’t hurt them, try leaving/rejoining to reset their modifiers.
Was playing meteorb until I hit lvl 76 and just thought I'd give this other build a try. Very fun build indeed, lots of damage and very safe just as he said. I love running so fast as well, I can run around put up a bunch of traps whenever I see a big group of mobs while still looking around for more mobs to play with.
Bro... I've been stuck in Hell Worldstone Chamber for weeks now. I've stumbled upon your gameplay last night and guess what? an hour after I finally became a Matriarch. You are awesome.

This is great but more than any other build in D2R, the trapsin takes a fair amount of knowledge to effectively play. Would have been great to see this in the video, for example which traps to use and where, proper use of psychic blast/CoS, dealing with LI ranged mobs, etc.
What I don't get while leveling is -- how do you get by using abilities all the time? How do you sustain the mana? I use all the mana potions I have and what I pick up in a reasonably-sized dungeon in normal so far lol. For solutions, all I seem to see is "Insight Runeword on a merc," but there's lots of game to play until then lol.
Ye, I put alot of points into energy and spammed pots until NM countess where I found the runes in a few runs. Once u have insight u never need another mana pot :D
Just gonna throw out there. Ive seen alot of people use that first respec because they went wake of fire. Just going str8 to charged bolt is underrated.. and you save that respec. Wake may be bit faster. But by level 30 ur damage is doing work especially if you can get a quick spirit sword.
Wonderful guide for normal. I think I would do the skills a little differently in a HC play through though. I take fade over BoS and normally try to get the shadows a little earlier to pull aggro off of myself and the expensive merc. Mind blast and cloak are amazing but sometimes I cant react fast enough and the shadow really helps with extra fast packs and whatnot.

One thing I don't like about D2 community is we don't tell people what to save to make really OP LOW LEVEL characters in early game. I mean, because I know that Sigon's is good on virtually every pre-17th level char I was able to combine those and Cathan's to get through Act I with this build in about 20 minutes play time. There ought to be more guides on how to enchance very early speed running if people are looking to burn through early content quickly. Just by saving a few of the good early sets you can get all the characters through normal fairly quickly.
I'm so excited for D2R. My favorite build is meteorb sorc, which will definitely be my first ladder character, but for the first few weeks I'm going to have so much fun just trying out all these builds
@@novapheonixgaming They had latter in D3, but I think they called it seasons in that game. Basically, ladder is a separate thing that you create different characters, know as ladder characters, for. The main fun is seeing how quickly you can level and how far into the leaderboard you can get
I have a question regarding the merc aura. Doesn't the holy freeze shatter the enemies so you don't have any corpses left to explode? Wouldn't it be better with a might or defiance merc?
Charged bolt sentry not that great. Lighting sentry alone miss AoE effect without death sentry, compared to fire sentry. So... you kinda need 30+ level to really shine on lightning. I personally respec in mid 30 for lightning, you don't need to wait 40-50 level. And you can go without respec too, clear speed just be not that good (till act4 nightmare).
Personally, i find it better to just go lightning, LS is fine and safe for norm, use mindblast to KB anything that charges you, and once you get death sentry, you get Corpse explosion and your set for all of NM. The fire traps are good until lvl 20 when the dmg drops off. Just my personal experience
Fire blast is extremely good non lightning damage for Hell mode even during normal mode and nightmare mode I highly recommend throwing fire bombs in between placing traps it just makes everything go faster faster XP game faster kills faster drops, I'm loving my trapper build at the moment, aside from the summon necromancer going from normal to Hell difficulty solo this has been the second easiest build to use possibly even more overpowered than the summon necromancer the only difference I'd say is it's a little bit more click intensive but otherwise the traps basically act like summons that can't take damage and you know when they are going to die and they don't take bodies to recast, great build
My only qualm is with a blizzard regarding this build, I originally started playing on PC years ago but I play on PlayStation 4 now and The traps usually lock onto enemies whenever you try to place them which is definitely not optimal if I had a keyboard and mouse I would place them in the corners of the rooms so they would shoot outward at everything but there's really no way to control where the cast using controller unless you lay them down before enemies are even visible but that can be very taxing on mana which is usually the route I take I usually kill everything then start placing traps every screen length I travel hoping I will place them down before enemies agro on to me, it's the same thing for a corpse explosion or blizzard poison javelin very hard to cast these spells exactly where you would prefer them to go and where it would be most strategic for them to go, for example poison javelin is very powerful during the first few acts of normal difficulty while on PC you can throw it right between a gap of enemies that you're facing but on PS4 instead of throwing it between a gap of enemies it's going to lock on to one of those enemies regardless of whether you want it to or not the best way to use it on PlayStation 4 is to get the enemies chasing you and throw the javelins in a direction where there is no enemies and have them chase you into it same with blizzard and traps, very unfortunate I'm really hoping they add keyboard and mouse compatibility to consoles at least to PlayStation and Xbox consoles, how fortnite has it why not Diablo 2 that's existed for close to 30 years lol
Then for corpse explosion let's say you're summons just killed 10 enemies and there's 10 more and the 10th enemy that was killed is what you want to cast corpse explosion on but you're standing in front of the first enemy that was killed you would have to cast corpse explosion 10 times for it to reach that enemy because it goes off proximity while using controller because there's no cursor for you to click on exactly what you want to explode so you have to either decide do you want to be safe and spam corpse explosion 11 times before you actually do damage or do you want to run up way closer than you need to be to explode that first corpse.. even if you do run up with your mom passed all of the Dead corpses sometimes it still locks on to enemies behind you wasting mana and time if you cast too quickly as enemies are dying, I've gotten used to it where my summon necromancer is godly now but at the same time it's still very annoying I wish we had some type of on-screen cursor to use during combat with consoles
My first character day one definitely would have been a blizzard sorceress but even before trying I knew the mechanics would be off till instead I went for Frozen orbs / chain lightning instead which is working fine but I would definitely prefer to just use the build I want to use it sucks that I'm avoiding certain builds specifically because they didn't look deeply enough into console compatibility
Its amazing, but with filthy casual gear, the mana is intensive - im just level 23 though with stealth and leaf. Super fun though! I am wondering how the wake of fire does vs diablo in normal?
thanks again llama !! :) im just a bit surprised that in term of equipment u are making it like a standard casting character with those usual hoto , trangsglove , arachnid spirit monarch , considering as u explain that traps is with IAS shouldnt we have more IAS stuff and getting a bit closer to a ligth javazon with for exemple some IAS glove ? i know all those equipment makes it a + to skill which is what we want of course but .. anyway thanks for the explanation !!!
If you have 400% magic find anything that dies around you on a solo game would be affected by your magic find. Making switching last second to more magic find on your off hand great. Now if your merc has 100% and you have 400% it will only count as 500% if your merc gets the last blow ie the kill.
For a budget version (or for SP games) there should not be the HF torch and the Annihilius included. I'm playing standard core / online, but mostly SSF. For a budget version, where are elemental resists coming from here??? No torch, no Anni, no Enigma, so what now? Would like to see more options as well as a good comparison for using pieces of the Natalya's Odium gear set and which ones. And since that set isn't considered to be very good, this should raise some awareness for ActiBlizz D2:R live team to help make that one better.
I'm curious why we don't respec out of Fire Blast at some point. It's not itself a synergy for the Lightning Tree. Why not just dump those points into Shadow Master for a second tank? (And if I run into LI/PI and don't have a Lower Resist/Amp Damage on switch, those one-point-wonders like Cloak of Shadows, Mind Blast, or Burst of Speed are durn handy.)
Mr Lama, why do you suggest FCR gloves and not IAS gloves for Trapassin? Wouldn't going for higher IAS breakpoints be most optimal for trap DPS (getting all 5 out and firing ASAP)?
Not really. You can shop for a yew wand w/ Lower Resist charges on it and use it on some of the monsters on Hell difficulty. However, even if u don’t have a wand, the trapsin’s dmg is very diverse and immunes are not an issue whatsoever.
You recommend holy freeze merc, but everyone else says no holy freeze because cant corpse explosion frozen bodies, not impactful enough/doesnt interfere with death trap enough to make a difference?
I don't use death sentry at all, it's a trap. It doesn't give synergies. i prefer to buff my shadow master and use fire blast, lightning sentry and cloack of shadows. Marrowwalk for the sweet bone cage as panic button.
All DMG makes lightning DMG. What about light immune? Fire blast is crap, it's to slow!!! What to do with lightning immun monster? Im actually lvl32 in 2md run act 1, first lightning immune i can't do any DMG... How to manage this???
You're correct - Act 2 Holy Freeze merc is a bad option for a trapsin. Go with Prayer, if your merc has Insight equipped. Otherwise, Might/Defiance to purely help out your merc.
Can someone explain what is the point of using both lightning and death sentries? There is a limit for the amount of turrets you can place, so you obviously cant use both at the same time. Isn't death sentry just an upgraded lightning sentry with the corpse explosion? Or lightning turret does more damage? I was sure it is only maxed for the synergy of death sentry.
You can have 5 traps down, you generally use 4 lightening and 1 death, the death gives a little more aoe with corpse explosion and a damage type that isn't lightening, so helps with resists.
lightning sentry has much more damge, due to higher dmg per shot and more shots per sentry, death sentry has only 5 shots (without synergy) and it is needed for aoe and light imunes

Me when a guide starts going over all the gear I could be using: mm yes I see I don't have any of this shit and I have no clue how to get it very good
Love the new video opening scene 🤩🤩
thanks again llama !! :) im just a bit surprised that in term of equipment u are making it like a standard casting character with those usual hoto , trangsglove , arachnid spirit monarch , considering as u explain that traps is with IAS shouldnt we have more IAS stuff and getting a bit closer to a ligth javazon with for exemple some IAS glove ? i know all those equipment makes it a + to skill which is what we want of course but .. anyway thanks for the explanation !!!
trapsin all the way baby!!!!
But how do u get high level runes like that.
For those of us that have only been playing a few months, what exactly is a Hodo and a shakeo made of?
Sorry for being so late with this. I just started playing Diablo 2 Resurrected. How did you get so much storage? Is that a mod?
% LIGHTING DOES WORK NOW FOR TRAPS GRIFF IS BIS
Laying traps is based on attack speed, right ? I hear so many times insisting on FCR and not IAS
If the traps are so separate then do they work with your magic find? If so does that mean you merc goes off of your magic find?
If you have 400% magic find anything that dies around you on a solo game would be affected by your magic find. Making switching last second to more magic find on your off hand great. Now if your merc has 100% and you have 400% it will only count as 500% if your merc gets the last blow ie the kill.
Thanks for nice guide!

Is it viable to put one point in Dragon Talon and wear Gore Riders or Goblin Toe for crushing blow to help get the first kill?
“Where are my treads? Where did I put them?” Casually teasing us with his completely STACKED inventory
It’s a synergy for Death Sentry - points in Fire Blast increase how many times your Death Sentry will fire.
What do you spec in hell? Waaaay to many fire and lightning res mobs to stay pure ⚡ and DS with some fire bombs.
Mr Lama, why do you suggest FCR gloves and not IAS gloves for Trapassin? Wouldn't going for higher IAS breakpoints be most optimal for trap DPS (getting all 5 out and firing ASAP)?
For faster teleport I suppose
10:52 or you could say "your traps are basically elites or champions"
"It's a trap!" - some Star Trek guy

@@cory5197 Star Treks?
@@cory5197 Is that the one with Look Skysaber?
@@nedyankov7027 Yeah, that one. With Captain Picwalker and he flies the Millenium Enterprise.
sheesh mind blast is crazy. I never played an assassin, but she looks super good but needs infinity for lightening immunes like a light sorc?
Not really. You can shop for a yew wand w/ Lower Resist charges on it and use it on some of the monsters on Hell difficulty. However, even if u don’t have a wand, the trapsin’s dmg is very diverse and immunes are not an issue whatsoever.
3:30 I just put 1 point into Wake of Inferno, since it gets +3 from Leaf and +1 from Lore early on, decent damage boost for only 1 skill point.
Only hard points matter for synergies, extra skills not.
@@merinn69 Aah, good to know!
I would have assumed there was some claw-combo that gave you higher +skill and higher +IAS than HoTO and Spirit
Griffon is better then shako mrLama ???? maybe not adding dmg but giving enemies -light ress
Silence is really good on trap sin
All DMG makes lightning DMG. What about light immune? Fire blast is crap, it's to slow!!! What to do with lightning immun monster? Im actually lvl32 in 2md run act 1, first lightning immune i can't do any DMG... How to manage this???
Hoto and spirit on Trapsin? Why? What's the point?
You need 2x Blue claws with +3 LS and +2 skills
Upsetting thing with trapsin in d2r is Tir rune's mana after kill doesn't work with traps like in d2.
Hell yeah man, thank you
Would Holy Freeze merc negatively effect Death Sentry's corpse explosion? If so, is it still worth getting Holy Freeze merc?
You're correct - Act 2 Holy Freeze merc is a bad option for a trapsin. Go with Prayer, if your merc has Insight equipped. Otherwise, Might/Defiance to purely help out your merc.
Why max out death sentry?
My thought exactly! Can someone please answer this because I really do not understand!
what should i change for a hardcore assasin ?
Why Fcr? I thought traps are affected by ias? Especially in the light of the „ias bug“ in d2r?
Building this out now. Are there any good runes to put in my shako or in my mercs helm?
Put traps need faster faster attack rating right? And why no dual claws with 6x6 traps
