I've been playing genshin for around 1.5 years straight, stayed purely for story, but i also did all other things even if i disliked them. I got burned out because i hated that core game never changes and qol features never get added. Then i tried many different gachas, mostly got hooked by PGR, but i had some dislikes about it. But when i finally decided to try out Honkai star rail a month ago, i was blown away. Literally EVERYTHING about it was perfect for my taste, AND everything i ever wanted from genshin hsr already had. Interesting story, funny jokes and easter eggs, well animated and often cutscenes, useful characters, NO PAIMON, deep but easy gameplay, many qol features, endgame content, fun rougelike, science fiction world setting, fast dailies, vocal music(not alot, wishing for more), i love all of it. I wish it had more content from the start, but what content is added by updates keep getting better and better. If devs going to stay on this quality level or get higher I'm ready to stay in this game for years, while doing other things and playing other games, because this game doesn't demand lots of your time.
Your comment perfectly sums up how I feel about both these games only difference is that played Genshin since launch 3 years and the no qol stuff hurts even more for me. Then when they basically said they wouldn't add any real endgame content besides the abyss I felt like my time was wasted all that time spent grinding for the best stats on my artifacts was all or nothing. Its to easy outside the abyss and sometimes the story is boring and you just have sit through it. Star Rail is the complete opposite story is interesting characters have actual personalities the easter eggs and real life memes used in the game jokes that make you laugh gameplay requires thinking and they add more challenging content instead of just giving the enemies more health they have mechanics you have to play around.
Well in my case I was hooked on pgr got bored but a type of game you would want to go back on like now and It's still good as ever meanwhile Genshin I got burned out easily I also mainly play for the story and scenery but after you got bored with all of that genshin means nothing to me anymore Imo cant say I get the same feeling of wanting to go back like pgr I also played Hsr and honestly I wish they would Implement some of it in genshin now that I think about it Genshin is Implementing a new banner system like pgr lol you can choose what character you want then you can get the character you chose except you can still lose 50/50😅 and besides hsr I also got hooked on honkai inpact 3 damn at least Honkai has decent story and the oart 2 is relased while gemshin still has no purpose of making a endgame content besides spiral abyss😅
Almost forgot I hate genshin also because of Trash Gacha system☠️

yeah PGR is a great game but the characters are quite dry. Imo I feel like the characters are more involving in AG and the combat experience is better in PGR. Both have generic stories with some great moments here and there
But the fight in story mode is too short which annoys too much
@@ANKIT-kc3sg yeah but the good think is that you can watch the story peacefully even at low level, so its kinda big pros and cons, th normal fight is still good but boss fight is too fast, they make the challange mission harder instead

I might get flamed, but my hot take is PGR's gameplay is kinds too much yet too little at the same time. The gap within' 4 and 5 star is even farther than that of Genshin or HSR

Been playing 13 gacha games over the past 3+ years. So far, FGO & Hi3rd stories & lore got me so hooked. Arknights was also really good even in the story department with annoyingly long dialogues but needs a lot of brainpower for the gameplay. PGR's story took off very slow but now picking up pace quickly and their gameplay is tad better & cleaner than HI3rd's. Azur Lane made me lose my F2P status & what hooked me up are their skins and me being a history buff, I was attached to it. GFL was also another anthropomorphic game that has good story telling and lovable raifus but I hate their skin gacha. Tried Priconne for about 8 months and thanking myself of leaving the game earlier b4 the global server got axed. Tried GBF for about a week but left it since I wasn't hooked. Idolm@ster Shiny Colors is another gacha game that had a boring gameplay but their idols I absolutely adore. Same with Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls but with rhythm gameplay. Loved both IM@S games but needs english subs. I am having fun with HSR now and since it reminds me of FGO's turn based gameplay, it is up my alley.
Haven't tried Genshin since their reputation & community kinda pushed me away from it.
Honestly seeing that you're sane I'd tell you to give genshin a try. I kinda quit not cuz of community and all the bs that people keep complaining about but mostly cuz it hurts, feels like the Devs don't care nearly as much as other games (Recently HSR QoL team is a big example).
With everything out of the way, genshin is absolutely a terrific game when it comes to being a casual enjoyer, not a hardcore gacha grinder. It's good cuz it can do a bit of everything.

Genshin is great despite the reputation, I do recommend it to everyone who doesn't mind gacha systems, I don't bother much with the community, there's plenty of childish people as there's plenty of children I suppose, but overall I absolutely love it, specially the world exploration and the characters

Coming from Mobius FF, I was looking forward to play FFVII Ever Crisis, but it's not available in SEA region. VPN may work but sometimes it doesn't, until I installed 4 VPNs and decided I'm over it.

Man, you really can't help but take a dig at Genshin every couple of minutes, even if you haven't played it for the longest time.
I knew you hadn't touched it in years (if ever), the moment you claimed Genshin was "always Chinese-themed" and the characters are all wearing "Chinese traditional outfits". Uh...Mondstadt (German-themed), Inazuma (Japanese-themed), Sumeru (Middle East and Indian-themed), Fontaine (French-themed)?! Liyue (Chinese-themed) is just one of the many regions of the game. In ToF you just have a random sci-fi theme and a Chinese theme ripped straight from Genshin.

@@catlurver7296 Seems like you really have no idea about Genshin at all....Fontaine had been planned for almost 3 years (they stated it in a original special prorgam livestream in which the concept of Fontaine + the planning was explained and protrayed), how tf would that be copied from ToF which was released maybe a year ago?? And just because Honkai Star Rail or Zenless Zone Zero also have futuristic aspects, doesn't mean they are copied by ToF, literally tons of games have sci-fi themes. I have been playing Genshin since the very beginning actively and have made tons of experiences by now. I'm not trying to be a Genshin whiteknight or anything, since I do have some personal issues with the game as well, but it's most definetely NOT a ToF copy wtf. Btw, I did play ToF closed beta myself and started again a few months ago, so don't come at me with the "u didn't even play ToF urself" or similar.

Guide to PGR in a bit of text: play the tutorials for all the characters you have and play all of the mechanic tutorials to figure out the game. Press esc or pause when you need to check how to play a character’s signature and you forgor.

And honorably mention for kurogames that made DMC-like combined with candy crush game as PGR, the game really underrated and, I'm sorry to say this no offend to specific youtuber, no toxic youtuber play the game because it's to hard for them... With a high pace fighting with Nier vibe and banger soundtrack, why shouldn't i feel greatful

In all honesty, that game is one of the rare ones where power creep is factually not a thing. If someone says it's a game that has high power creep, they're just looking for numbers and not actually looking at clearing content.
@yalocaldex Well that's a lie and a half. To this day, 3 of the day one 4 stars are still THE best units to have on your team for meta. You can critique Genshin for being really easy, but powercreep isn't even remotely a thing in that game.

The Story at the beginning is mah Bit it gets sicker and sicker and the Open world you unlock step by step gets beautifuler and has a wow effect.
And i realy lobe that you can customize your own character and Outfits.
I liked Honkai Starrail but it was soooo short. After just around 20 hours you run throught the whole story and then you have nothing to do. But this was a few years ago. Someone know how long the story is now? The last time I played it, I was in that "chinese" town until I saw the "content ended" message. :(

No gacha will come close to genshin and games by hoyo unless other makes understand how important hooking people to story is. A lot of genshin players just outright hate many things in genshin but the lore keeps em in. Lore,cutsence and fight mechanics is what should and will lead mobile games forward.

likes: game-style/battle is fun, lots of rewards and events, voice acting is REALLY good, nice design and the most important thing for me is that the characters female-male distribution good which one of the thing I consider before playing a game.
dislikes: goddamn texts, so much of it with small size, I ended up skipping most of them and makes me miss the story, which is kinda bad cuz the games is storytelling with battle, no in between aside from events or grinding, and this kinda exhausting to me.
tho I still play it time to time cuz I like the gameplay, but definitely not on regular basis

Loved the list its just waayyy to many female characters BTW i love genshin its awesome :) no need to trash-talk others to get a point across. One game that’s coming out soon with more male characters and good animation is Wuthering Waves. It’s produced by Kuro games, the same company that made PGR. It’s open world and seems really fun so far.

I just don't get why people want to skip dialogs in star rail, it is a story based game...

One of very downside of some gacha games is energy gate keeping. Not only the energy costs too damn high the probability of dropping is hella low. Even quests that only drops low materials has also costly energy(ehem ehem FATE GO)

Pokemon is Japanese themed even tho some regions are meant to be America or Europe. Even the way you phrase it, you are not saying Genshin is based on Germany, Japan, East Asia, France, you are saying "Monstandt is based on German" Genshin Impact =/= Monstandt, Sumeru, Fontaine, or Liyue. It's Genshin Impact, and it has a Chinese theme because it was developed by a Chinese company. Same way games of any region have their own differences. American themed game = Overwatch, even tho it has characters from all regions the narrative is very american, characters like Lucio have American accent even though it doesn't make sense and they always talk about lgbt. Nanatsu no taizai is a japanese show that takes place in western europe, it is still Japanese-themed, such as the fact there is a literal Demon King as the final boss. How about those american accents in Japanese shows, does them speaking English in a Japanese accent mean they are now American-themed instead of Japanese themed, when its literally a view of americans from a Japanese perspective. In Genshin the characters literally all speak Chinese unless you are playing a dub. How is that not Chinese-themed? And having more than one region in the game doesn't change the overall game

I agree that Tower of Fantasy has a better premise and better characters than Genshin, but it is a terribly unbalanced game, terribly planned in the gacha system which is horrible and has a terrible customer service if you are not Chinese Apart from that, some of the list I had never heard of and others I agree are on it, good video congratulations

The only arguable thing is Tower of Theft as the Chinese community call it. Well that game had more copy right issues than every other game on this list together.
About Honkai Impact 3rd, it's not just old, it's literally the first high quality game on mobile which started the whole PGR etc mobile game golden age.
And it's not just "still alive" it'll get a Part 2 which means the game literally reborn to beat up all the new games again.

The only way my ex got me to touch Genshin was vecause she said it was like BOTW, and to this day it's still the only reason I play and I love every second of it. 400 hrs on BOTW just walking around, and probably like 2000 to 3000 hrs walking around in Genshin now.

The thing about Genshin is that it's not the game that's good, it's because the fandom is so hyped at first seeing a third person anime look alike action rpg for the first time in a while, they exaggerated at making contents during covid now it popularity stonks, and we can agree the fan animation, theory, conspiracy, fan manga and such all that made by content creators are more entertaining then the game itself
@@mamorukato370 imo, ithe game was not that bad at the start. but after the first few version, ehhh... it is not great. idk if they improved or not as i already quit the game, but things seem to be rushed in genshin, and that is one of the main contributors for me to quit. i hope this won't be the case for honkai star rail too, so far the story range from amazing to mediocre. Like belobog is great, but xianzhou storyline seem pretty bad. hopefully this will change, i'll give it benefit of the doubt. Like character development is so bad, to the point when i noticed what happened to ting yun i don't feel anything honestly. The companion quest in hsr is good though

I LOVE genshin impact but it is a simple combat, it's well done but it's very simple as it gets. And the game is supposed to be simple it's a relaxing game.
