Just wanted to say thanks so much for your calm and clean explanation of how to fold this bike! I couldn’t even find it on the Tern website and was nearly reduced to tears trying to figure out why it wasn’t magnetically connecting. The height number made all the difference, thanks. This is the first bike I have ever owned and I’m a complete beginner, and this really was just a great help. Best wishes from London UK
@@christopherpape4823 its very easy to fold it. All you need is some practice. Its not light as a feather but not heavy too. I guess depends on your physical power, so i suggest to try it at some store. The good thing is that you can move really fast during traffic time. Its a small bike with good handling.
This bike looks nearly identical to the EuroMini ZiZZO Via in terms of specs in pretty much every aspect. However, the EuroMini has a lifetime warranty on its frame and is $100 cheaper! I just ordered one of their bikes because it has really good reviews (50 reviews and 4.6 star rating on Amazon).
I have a Bickerton Junction 1507; if it wasn´t for the frame design, they are both identical in components. I like more the frame design in the Bickerton but it is 1 Kg heavier.
I read that there were problems with Tern bikes and the frame breaking apart. People have reported the frame breaking and Tern had a recall for this. Is this issue resolved with all Tern bikes?
Absolutely. The Link D8 is a far superior bike and can't really be compared to the A7. You get a much better shifting system, Tern's OCL Hinges that they use on even their most expensive bikes, the Andros 2 Stem, and many more nice components all around. Naturally, the most you spend, the better the bike will be, but the A7 is meant to be an entry level product.
@@nycewheels Yeah I hear you're not allowed to do that on the subway though. I don't live in London, but most of the folding bike market in the UK is. And apparently you're only allowed to take foldED bikes down. Not folding bikes unfolded. And you can have some very long walks down there!
Actually, it's both the saddle and the seat post that's slipping down. Turns out, the bolts and nuts of the saddle, and the clamps around the seat post were really loosed when I got it from the store so I just tighten those up and problem solved. Though I've been getting suggestions that tightening down the clamp around seat post ain't a best practice, instead apply some carbon fiber assemble compound on the seat post, but whatever, this is the quick around for me.
The frames and latches on the higher end tern's are a bit more advanced, and are manufactured using a technique called hydro-forming, which allows for a stiff and efficient design. We'd recommend taking a look at some of their nicer models, like the Link D8.
Different hinge joints (B7, Q-Lock on stem + FBL 2 on frame. A7, FBL 1 on both frame and stem joints), saddles and trim colours (the B7 has a raw silver option for the handle stem and seat post on some models) Otherwise these 2 models are more or less the same bicycle
Please excuse the typo on the speeds at 0:22. The bike is a 7 speed, not an 8 speed.

Good video! Informative, comfortable pace, NOT over produced. Cool music in background...NO EDM!!!!
Thanks David!
Just got it a few days ago.. Great bike, no complains 😊
What is your opinion of this bike 6 months later, if you don't mind?
what’s your opinion a year later?
@@westernpigeon still a great bike!
@@Argy_V hey man I'm curious how portable it really is. Like is it heavy/clunky to carry around? Is it easy to take on a bus/subway/etc?

Air in the tyres is a good add up

How did the bike go? 300 bucks seems too good to be true!
Like I said before, this looks alot like the old Dahon Speed D7, but with a nicer powdercoat finish. Thanks for keeping the price about the same.
The old Dahon Speed models were made of steel, so they were a bit heavier and had more flex than this bike.
Tern is made by the Dahon family , the story i heard is part of the family inherited the use of the dahon patents in a divorce
Tern link a7 or Dahon vybe d7? Which one? and reasons? Help me with your opinion...
Max Maxed does that happen to you often?

Can you add the luggage truss and the kanga rack here? Or no?

I've had the same A7 tern folding bike for three years now and the frame still sturdy and solid not to mention I bike every day to work.

Link a7 vs link d8, is it well worth paying more price?

Can you roll this bike like a cart when folded rather than picking it up and carrying it?
Not quite, but you can roll this bike like a bike and then fold it when you reach your destination.

You may pull the folded bike like a trolley (though not that comfortable) but not push.
dream about this bike in Russia!
Are you guys in nyc,, I want to see your store where is it located? .. Google ,maps says it's permanently close that's true?
Can the bike wheel when it is folded?
I just got a Tern link A7 but one issue I have with it is that the saddle keeps slipping down especially on bumpy roads, after riding it a few times.
Is it just the saddle that's slipping? Or is it the seat post that's slipping down? Have you been able to fix this?

The saddle and seat post are adjustable.
I want ur cap!! There’s a minimalistic tern logo😍
What is the max weight capacity?
230 lbs
$399?
BUT CAN IT DO THIS?

are the frame quality same with the higher class TERN Link bike? I would like to upgrade this bike if yes

NYCeWheels that's mean link d8 frame is much more stronger then a7 right ?
Yes.
@@rockybarrett8842 Would you say Dahon P8 and D8's frame was more durable than that of Tern d8, as it is of steel vs aluminum?
what's the difference between link A7 and B7?
Very little actually. Nicer tires and a different telescoping handle-post, but otherwise more or less the same.
ofan the difference is in the main hinge the b7 is more sturdier when they connect because of their layout

B 7 is part of a bingo game
Does this bike snap in half as othrr terns?
@2:20 young man
I've been using the A7 for three years and it never snapped in half. Still solid. I bike every day to work.
Max Maxed seems to be only you saying this
Had one for 8 years without problems , gave it to a niece 3 years ago she still ride it , bought a new one
n fold much better and faster
Indeed it is, but it costs more ;)
