Hi and hello from germany. Thank you for this video. I already had some fun creating a assets. But hey I got one big problem with the pivot point you told me to center -> the pivot point magicly changes its position during using the animator. I changed it like you showed, then I try to animate it, and its gone to somewhere else -> got to do the animation again. Now I am confused if its a problem of the program/ computer / or mine. May you know this problem? Thanks z3
Thanks for your question. This sounds strange. Usually, the pivot point should stay where it is once you adjust it in VoxEdit. Is the pivot point moving in the animator, or is just not where you've placed it in the editor?
Hi! This video is very helpful. I read in one of the comments you replied to that the creator fund is no longer open. Does that mean that even if I created some avatar designs, I won't be able to sell them on Sandbox marketplace? Or would there be a time wherein we'll be able to freely list our designs like Opensea? I really want to sell my designs as I think they are pretty unique. They have their own attack animations. I hope this gets noticed, thank you!

Thanks for your comment. I asked for getting paid in SAND after successfully completing the creator fund test, but I got no answer regarding this. 😀 I was paid in USD via PayPal immediately after delivering results of the test.
it should be like in minecraft, that you can build things in the game as you play, not in a separate software. but still very interesting project

Is the lag an issue while you are building or only when you test-play the game? Reducing the amount of details (amount of assets, amount of faces on single assets, animation...) is an option for sure. It could also be your workstation. Is your computer up to date? Best, Ben

Hi question! How do you see this being used for other types of creators in the future? For example I’m an architectural designer; do you think architects will have a role when it comes to creating digital assets to populate land?
In my opinion if a nft gaming project is on mobile platform it will be huge. Most people play mobile game these days due to fragmented life style.
This reminds me of the million dollar homepage from 20+ yrs ago, where the creator sold pixels on his site for $1 each

Yes, this is correct. I was not possible to publish any models on the marketplace if you were not a member of the creator fund. From what I can tell, it's still not possible today. It was planned to open the marketplace for everyone though. The problem is that they have to make sure only quality work is uploaded, which is not easy so solve. Best, Ben

I have two questions.
1: I have a map that needs to be decorated with 10 houses. between me making 10 different houses and then putting them on the map, versus me just creating 5 houses, putting it on the map and then cloning it, which will make my game lagger.
2: I have a big house that needs to be decorated with many trees. Between me creating a house of about 16000 faces with all the trees in the house, versus creating a house of 3000 faces and creating 1 or 2 trees of 1000 faces then going to the gamemaker to align them, what would make the game mine became lagger.

Yes, it can be a fun job if you enjoy building voxel models all day long. Creating voxel art is pretty easy compared to other 3D modeling techniques, therefore it's a great way to start your endeavor as a CG artist. If The Sandbox should stick with voxel style in the next years, there will be a huge demand for people with this skillset. Thanks for watching. Best, Ben
can we sell a what they call an "Experience" ( the game created by someone who does not own a land , for example). Or just Assets separated?
You can build and sell an entire game, all assets included. In this case, you would have to give away your entire Sandbox account to the buyer, so that he can link the experience you've created to the land he owns. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching. Best, Ben

Thanks for watching. No, this is not yet possible. Assets still have to be minted through The Sandbox marketplace. You must be a member of the creator fund in order to do this.

Thanks for watching! You cannot list them anywhere at the moment, unless you are a member of the creator fund and get permission by The Sandbox to sell your assets on their marketplace. This should change in the future as soon as the marketplace opens for everyone. Then you should also be able to sell voxel assets on OpenSea. Best, Ben
Excellent video I must say! I did make an asset on the voxel editor. Except I don't know how to export it to my gamemaker and actually see my asset in its true size. Could you give me a little help with this or sent an article where its being explained? Also, what would be your preference when it comes to selling your assets on The Sandbox website or a third party website like Opensea?

The thing is, only approved creators (check out our new project at metamaker.io ) or members of the creator fund can mint and list assets on The Sandbox marketplace at the moment. Only by having your items listed, you can access them in the GameMaker. And listing doesn't mean trading.
Currently, only selected artwork is made available for purchase by The Sandbox. This is because the technical requirements to make assets work properly in the GameMaker are quite strict. With these restriction, The Sandbox prevents inexperienced users from uploading incomplete assets or assets that infringe copyright law. You're welcome James! As soon as the first games are open to the public, every land owner can use VoxEdit and the GameMaker to publish his own games. You don't need to register as a creator anymore. If you don't want to do any of the construction work yourself, you can hire a game studio specialized on The Sandbox platform to build the game for you. I hope this answers your question. Best, Ben

At the moment, you can't. All of these primitive versions of what has yet to become the "Metaverse" have their own rules and requirements. Only voxel models can be used in The Sandbox so far. I believe that when the Metaverse replaces the internet as we currently know it, everyone will be able to chose the style of his avatar and the look of his home base without restrictions. Best, Ben

It costs you nothing. You get paid for participating, means The Sandbox pays you for completing the single tasks. If a graphic artist/animator who doesn't have any "voxel" work in their portfolio, would the first step be to download the "Game Maker" in Sandbox in order to create assets and animations, then sign up for the artist fund? Thanks in advance!
No, not necessarily. You can create and submit your Voxel art without using the Game Maker. You can use MagicaVoxel or The Sandbox own tool VoxEdit to build your Voxel models instead. The Game Maker is the engine where the actual games gets assembled and build at the end. I hope this answers your question. Best, Ben

@@boredcook777 If there is a way to export model from Blender as .vox files, then yes. I still suggest to learn and use MagicaVoxel instead. You can learn it in an afternoon and start modeling right away. It also helps you the keep the Sandbox requirements in mind right from the starts (size, face count, level of details, textures...) Yes, this is correct. In order to publish the game you create, you must be a land owner. You can build your experience any time without owning land, but to make it accessible to other players you need land. In your case, I would look for land owners and team up with them. Many don't know how to build or have no time for building, so you can offer the game creation as a service, similar to what we do since a few months ( metamaker.io ) Best, Ben

Are you planning to become a creator fund artist? In this case, you can just take a few screenshots of your voxel creations and submit them together with the other information required to complete the application on fund.sandbox.game/ There is no need to upload anything to the marketplace.

Yes, there actually is one. A piece of land is 96x96x128 blocks big. On block consists of 32x32x32 voxels. When you start building at the very bottom, your tower can be 128 blocks tall. Thanks for watching. Best, Ben

Thanks for your question. At the moment, only artists who are part of the creator fund can sell voxelart on the marketplace. Even they are currently not allowed to randomly upload. Everything you find on the marketplace was part of a curated drop organized by The Sandbox during land sales. In my opinion it's gonna stay this way for a while, as all of the creations have to be build and designed according some strict specifications. I hope this answers your question. Best, Ben
I'm a landowner. In the game builder their are template games. In the builder are NFT items to use. You don't have to pay for those right?
Thanks for your question Martin. No, you don't have to pay for those. According to a statement from The Sandbox, assets from their constantly growing library are free and will remain free to use in the future. This is not the case for assets created by individual creators. You can use them for free while building a game right now, but in case the owner should decide to add a price tag on them in the future, you must purchase them if you want to keep using these assets in your game. Yes, it's free! Or let's say, the tools are free. For selling your work on The Sandbox marketplace, you had to be a member of the creator fund, at least in the past. It looks like the application form to sign up for the creator fund is no longer available. This is probably because they change the on-boarding process for new creators now. Furthermore, they have recently announced a new "startup accelerator program" and allocated 50 million US dollars to support teams of creators to build their own games and experiences on The Sandbox. I haven't bought any land. The size of the parcel I'm running around at the end can be selected in the GameMaker and servers as a template to build your experience.

how do you import your custom avatar on Sandbox experience? is it possible to try your custom avatar in sandbox?
For the officially released games of the Alpha Season, all you can do is to adjust the look of your avatar through your Sandbox account. You cannot replace it with another character or object yet. This feature is only available in the GameMaker so far. Open the GameMaker, go to the settings and select a different character in the avatar section. Best, Ben

Unfortunately not yet. You don't have to be a land owner, but you had to be a member of the creator fund in the past. And even than, only selected artwork was listed on The Sandbox marketplace. Best, Ben

The idea of the publisher is to disappear in the background at some point and make the Sandbox universe a place that is controlled and developed entirely by the users. Let's see how this turns out. In a week or two, the first games should become available to play for everyone directly on the map (only on a small portion of land in the center that's currently still owned by the Sandbox team). Soon, more games and an open marketplace where everyone can sell his NFTs should follow. I would have a look at the SAND price chart...

Yes i really love the idea of metaverse and think, that this will be our future. But I dont think, that sandbox will be part of that future. I think we will prefer realistic worlds and NFTs instead of Mincecraft stuff
That's a very valid point. I'm a bit skeptical too regarding the role The Sandbox will play in this. It all depends on how fun the games are and if they are able to gain and retain users/customers in the long run. For me, it's also not clear how The Sandbox will grow and transform in the future. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it has no future. It's an ever evolving thing that could have it's place in the Metaverse for sure. A lot still remains to be seen.
I agree but its MUCH easier to scale these graphics. Earth2 looks awesome in theory. Unreal engine 5 is gorgeous but it makes their end goal less achievable. A singleplayer game can look great but the second you add a network, it is much more difficult.
@@BGIANAKy That's true. Compared to other projects in the space, they at least have a game or a series of games that will so be available to play soon.
sandbox will at least give us a foreshadow to what a metaverse should be. Tho I think in the near future, using unreal engine to make something like sandbox will be a major leap to what we want as metaverse
@@DzakiDwitama well. Star atlas looks promising. A star citizen version but NFTS. Earth 2 is trying to be sandbox but in unreal5. However, their team is tiny and it looks like a rug pull to me. But who knows what they could achieve in a few more years.
I have edited a teplate in Voxeditor. But Im not enrolled in creator fund. Can't I use that chracter directly in my game without listng it in marketplace.
I mean can't I use that for my own play.
You have to be approved by The Sandbox to get your models from VoxEdit into the GameMaker. You receive approval only by being accepted as a creator at The Sandbox Creator fund at the moment. Before your models appear in the GameMaker, they are minted on the blockchain and therefore have to meet all technical requirements to run smoothly in the game. By joining the creator fund, they make sure only flawless high-quality content gets created and tokenized. I hope this answers your question. Best, Ben

Not yet. But you should be allowed to sell your assets on the Sandbox marketplace in the future. It costs nothing to build as all tools can be downloaded for free (GameMaker, VoxEdit, MagicVoxel...) You also don't need to be a land owner to start building. Best, Ben
Do you know when the game maker will be launched for mac ios ?
Unfortunately not. They only thing I know is that one of their creator fund supervisors has recently mentioned in a live-stream that the development division has resume the work on the mac ios edition again. Best, Ben
sandbox has now been deprecated to lum network so how does the application to be an artist work now ??
It looks like the application is undergoing some major changes and it's not available anymore the way it was a year ago. I could be because of the amount of low quality applications they've received in the last weeks and months.
Hey great vid! it is possible to share how much is required to dontate to the creator fund & wether that amount is set in $sand or usd I know i would have to pay in either sand of eth but if its set at like 500 sand and the price of sand had gone up 10x it would change things
Hi Jack, thanks for watching and your question. You don't have to donate anything to the fund, you get paid by the creator fund when you get accepted as a voxel artist. When you receive your monthly paycheck for the work you deliver, you get paid in US dollar. You need to exchange FIAT money or other crypto currencies into $SAND when you participate in a land sale on The Sandbox Metaverse or when you purchase NFTs from their marketplace. SAND went up quite a bit during the last few weeks, maybe fired by the Summer Jam land sales that took place every week. I expect the price to go down to something like 0.29 Euro Cent until Monday next week and then rise again to something like 0.46 Euro Cent until Thursday. Let see how far off I am with my forecast 😅 (this is NOT investment advice!!) Hope this answers your questions. Best, Ben

Thanks for your question. It looks like the creator fund is closed at the moment. It also looks like they restructure the on-boarding process. I'm not sure if the creator fund opens for new participants the same way it has been open for the last 2 years. From what I know, other subsidies are allocated to support creators building entire games on The Sandbox. Yes, you can. When you are part of their creator fund, you do not only can, but you must deliver a certain amount of models each month, using their tools. It's paid work then of course. Best, Ben

Thanks for your question! This was my idea and motivation too when I first heard of The Sandbox and their marketplace. I saw some of their assets on OpenSea and thought about creating and selling 3d models myself. Unfortunately, this is not possible yet. You have to apply for and become a member of creator fund first. And even then, only selected artwork can be sold on the marketplace. Thanks for watching and your questions. Yes, you need some basic 3D modeling skills if you want to participate. I wouldn't bother anymore though, as the creator fund is no longer open. I expect The Sandbox marketplace to work like Opensea where you get an email as soon as your item has been sold. No, you can't. At least not yet. The games will become accessible through The Sandbox map.

Yes, at least it was this way a few months ago. All assets must meet certain requirements to be used in the game later on. At the moment, only artists that are members of the creator fund can create models for The Sandbox. That's because you need to keep a long list of requirements in mind when building Voxel models. This will probably change in the future, as they plan to open up the marketplace for everyone. Even though I'm a bit skeptical about this. You need some experience to model suitable assets. I'm not sure yet how they will prevent the marketplace from becoming flooded with trashy model. Best, Ben

1) Yes, renting land and/or games and experiences should be possible in the future. The feature is not available yet.
2) You can start building even if you are not a land owner yet. A land is 96x96x128 blocks large. A block consists of 32x32x32 voxels
3) A standard 1x1 land has cost 1011 SAND in the past. A premium parcel that comes with NFTs costs something like 4k SAND
4) Yes, play to earn will be one incentive among many to explore other peoples games.

I had some similar issues too. Try to get to the settings somehow and set it from full screen mode to windowed. This should do the trick. And exit the game maker by hitting ALT+F4 on your screenshot if you get stuck. Best, Ben

In my opinion, there has to be more than just the incentive to explore the game if you want to impel people to pay for playing the game. This is especially true when adjacent land can be visited for free.

Sure, you can still apply. I didn't had any experience in voxel creation before I was applying too. (Keep in mind that I have a strong background in computer graphics though...) To complete the submission form, you must upload 4 voxel art creations. So, it makes sense to familiarize yourself with the subject before you apply. Hope this answers your question. Best, Ben
