    Dick Cavett has been nominated for eleven Emmy awards (the most recent in 2012 for the HBO special, Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Together Again), and won three. Spanning five decades, Dick Cavett’s television career has defined excellence in the interview format. He started at ABC in 1968, and also enjoyed success on PBS, USA, and CNBC.

    His most recent television successes were the September 2014 PBS special, Dick Cavett’s Watergate, followed April 2015 by Dick Cavett’s Vietnam. He has appeared in movies, tv specials, tv commercials, and several Broadway plays. He starred in an off-Broadway production ofHellman v. McCarthy in 2014 and reprised the role at Theatre 40 in LA February 2015.

    Cavett has published four books beginning with Cavett (1974) and Eye on Cavett (1983), co-authored with Christopher Porterfield. His two recent books -- Talk Show: Confrontations, Pointed Commentary, and Off-Screen Secrets (2010) and Brief Encounters: Conversations, Magic moments, and Assorted Hijinks(October 2014) are both collections of his online opinion column, written for The New York Times since 2007. Additionally, he has written for The New Yorker, TV Guide, Vanity Fair, and elsewhere.

      I never met him, didn't know where he lived but we used to shout Muhammad Ali !Muhammad Ali! so far away from United States here in Zambia, Africa. He was really the greatest of all time because even his funeral spoke so

    It’s so nice to see dick cavett treat Ali like a friend more than a god. Dick was so natural and charismatic. He really did love his time with Ali and you could tell.

    There will never be another Ali. People with better records, better skills and more power in the ring each division in each era but none of them ever had 1% of the charisma of Ali

    I’m not terribly interested in boxing, but Muhammad Ali was a force of nature with a penchant for rhyming. I miss him!

    Met Muhammad in Italy in 1986. Lovely man, sat with his family jus opposite us in a restaurant by the beach. I went over and said hello, and he couldn’t of been so kind. Gave me an autograph without even asking. His wife was so gracious too. R.I.P

    I don’t often comment on UA-cam, but what Ali said about kids using their brain to get a job teared me up, very wise and kind to know that his own good luck and hard work wouldn’t work for others, as well as not fucking up people who were in a bad way

    I was lucky enough as a young child to meet him at a party at a party in Detroit. He was so wonderful and kind. What an amazing person in so many ways. Truly the greatest.

      I’m lucky to have known Ali since he fought Foreman. (Not in person, I wish!). My big brothers and big cousins knew him since he fought Liston. Thank God for videos, I got to see his vids since he was 14. Beautiful, fun, exciting man. I can watch him talk all day. Also Like a work of Art in the ring. Poetry in motion. My favorite Celebrity ever! There’ll never be another one. Never.

    Dick Cavett can handle ANYTHING with absolute humor, intelligence & class.❤ These are 2 of my all-time favorite boxers!! Particularly Ali, never will be another like him.

    My god the way Joe picks the host up so effortlessly is amazing. I'm female but it literally looks like he dragged Cavett up by his groin at one point (he didn't look in pain) but that must have hurt or been uncomfortable . Frazier seems to be holding him in the air one handed at one point. Joe Frazier is my favourite boxer ever and It just shows the power he must have had in those punches against Ali that he can hold I'm guessing a 12 stone man up one handed

    When Ali said when he knew the other guy was basically beat, he'd go light. That's a good man right there! If only these fools in the street stopped beating on someone who is already beat! Follow the champs wisdom if you respect him, whether you're a man or a woman.

    Was surprised how tall Joe Frazier appears in this show
    Among the many big tall heavyweights Joe often looked inches shorter than in the ring
    ......but in this and other interviews he s a tall strikingly handsome man 👌😲👏

    have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were part of the main cast? These are rarities much like the other videos.

    so in the end, he came out victorious, what can Ali do to Cavett now six feet under? nothing! as it has been for the last seven years.
