    I saw 440 watts on a cloudy winters day due to the lensing effect of cloud edges. Have only used mine a few times, but have been very impressed with their performance.

    I bought the 400 watt panel in mid-April of 2024 and as soon as I got them out of the box; I took them to my backyard and set them up with the kickstand. I was charging my Bluetti AC180 and was pulling in 390 watts. It's a perfect fit for the AC180. I am in Utah.

      Nice!! Yea when temps are cooler these were doing really well. But nothing does great in hot temps so be curious when the cool temps come again. Thanks for the feedback 👍🏼

      @@johnnysweekends I haven't used them this summer but I was thinking of draining down the AC180 and we will see. It's been hovering around 100 degrees here.

    Thanks for the vid... Im really leaning towards these...
    How far do you put your panels from the charge controller, and what gauge wire are you using from panels to the controller?
    My usage will be camping, ARRL Field day, other radio events and short power outages at home to power/charge a few small things.
    Thanks again.

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  14 днів тому

      I have a 30ft and a 50ft cable. Both 12g
      But I normally run in series to keep amps low and wire size smaller. This panel only puts out about 10amps.

    As always Johnny, informative. Helps one make a logical, informed decision on which is best for the individual situation. My problem is the winds at my property. Another, which you pointed out in the vid was the adjustability, but that can be overcome by using blocks or rods. With that being said, are the panels just as durable to take some pokes on the backside?

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  Місяць тому +1

      The back sheet is pretty darn tough. I mean you could stab though it with a knife but it would take some decent force. Normally bumps and bruises though on the back should be fine.

    • @land0mancapt.stupid857
      @land0mancapt.stupid857 Місяць тому +1

      @@johnnysweekends thx. Good to know. Since we were talking about temps yesterday, what are the temp rates on these?
      Should be about the same as the flex, 180°F?

    • @johnnysweekends
      @johnnysweekends  Місяць тому +1

      @land0mancapt.stupid857 the flex panels on the roof are 176F and the portable ones are 185F. But with the flex I dont know how that’s tested for heat. How many hours sustained? 6 hrs…12…24….5 days? 1 month?
      Either way mine are still rocking…..still the same as it was at 108 several days ago.

    • @land0mancapt.stupid857
      @land0mancapt.stupid857 Місяць тому +1

      @johnnysweekends You mentioned yesterday you will test your panels for any efficiency loss after the summer or after the heat wave is over in a few months? That would be an interesting vid to see as I'm curious too if our flex panels had any 'damage'.
      I'm sure they'll be ok. As I mentioned yesterday, it seems it was a little more hotter last year and after summer was over they seemed to be putting out what they're rated.
      But still, I'd like to see results you find. 👍 perhaps you could do the flex and the portable panels to check any loss? Let's see how serious Renogy really is. But I know they're tough.

    im new to solar with power banks, do you need a charge controller to plug them into your Ecoflow? or do you just plug them in? i have a Delta 2 max, this panel seems great compared to the ecoflow (more expensive variant)

      No the Ecoflow power stations have a solar charge controller built in. Much like any other power station. And you don’t have to use the brands panels. Just don’t go over the input voltage by about 5%

      I would have to test back to back under same conditions. I like the Ecoflow panel except the stands and also the de lamination is still to common on to many people’s panels. Here or there, sure but there are several which is not good.
      Not sure on the newest version that just came out. But don’t know if the 400 got revised

      I have the new ecoflow 220w bifacial portable and like the renogy 220 with the exposed wires better..both are good portable panels but for the money Renogy is preferred by me.
