    Typical for people to villianize the victim. Maleficent in this version was battered, betrayed, and had her wings removed by the person she poured her heart and soul into. (Relateable) and then she in spite of all that grief and distrust fell into a motherly role because she loved the crap out of that child and raised her as her own. Is she twisted, messed up, and vindictive? Yes. But she is also capable of true love, even if it’s for her forest friends and that child who grew into a young lady. You know who is the real villian? The cowards who started the abuse, betrayal, and backstabbing. Is redemption possible? I believe so, but that is YOUR story to write. Not mine. 😉

    • @ArcaneWolf9
      @ArcaneWolf9 Рік тому +7

      I agree. Villainy? Two different human kingdoms used her for their own purposes. Both had designs on the lands she was the protector of. Stephan violated her trust, violated her emotionally and physically, literally cutting her to pieces and stealing her wings. To become the king. Here, the queen consort reveals that she has used a distorted version of Malificent's story to terrify her own people, turning them against M and her people. For power, to become queen. That queen would twist the truth, twist her own people to violence and hatred as a means of control. To incite violence and exterminate the fae that M would defend. Manipulation, fear, violence, hatred, greed, ambition and power. There's the villainy. Any attempt to stand against either kingdom would automatically be deemed rebellious, treasonous and evil. Just as you said, villains pushing off the responsibility for their villainy onto the victim of their actions. Yet how could you NOT stand against them?
      I really feel that Malificent's greatest act of evil was in her own self destruction, the magical outburst fueled by rage, pain and despair that destroyed the more innocent version of herself as she turned to evil in order to fight the evil being done to her and her people. That is a painfully tragic and complex bit of writing. Angelina hit the characterization so well throughout. You can see both the 'good' and 'evil' nature showing through in almost everything the character does. In the end, neither label could truly be applied to her, which made for a fascinating character. But more so because it was a rare story that dealt with change. Not 'ate a magical thing and suddenly became a good person' or 'the hero used the power of love to break the magical mirror holding the kingdom captive'. No beauty taming the beast. Malificent's own feelings, decisions and actions form the basis of HER OWN change. SHE is the author of her own transformation. Her own growth. Rare, but beautiful storytelling.

    They played it WAY too safe with this movie. You can’t erase a death scene that good and expect it to be overlooked. Pretty disappointing how scared they were to kill off any of the good characters.

      It’s not that they were scared dumbass they WANTED for maleficant to be reborn into her dragon form

      If you watched the movie they already mentioned the Phoenix figure and its ties to Maleficent. Hence why she resurrected. You can’t kill a Phoenix. They just rise again from the ashes.

    Wow Disney… way to be cheap in effects. It’s the same dusting they used in Marvel for the Snap.

    Evil would be evil no matters how beautifuly you try to prove it good by using human feelings.
    A human can be a "bad one" but an evil or (Satan) can never be a friend of a human. Evil envoy Nature.
