I think I may be subconsciously making up for all those years I concentrated on remixing so many Nintendo and Squaresoft soundtracks in the past!
Here is yet another classic Sega game that I didn't properly discover until way after its initial release. Although I remember Space Harrier being featured in various Genesis commercials growing up, I didn't play a really great version of the title until the excellent 3DS port of the game in the mid 2010's.
Suffice it to say, even then I found the game impressive - if (unsurprisingly) difficult for my own lame gaming abilities. Especially on the 3DS, the scrolling and 3D effects were wonderful, and I could only imagine how cool it must've been to play this in the arcades when it was new.
The main theme of the game was such perfect early level / action music, so I finally decided to give it a whirl. The melody of the track sounded so epic and "sung" to me that could imagine some dance floor diva belting out a tune to it- so I ended up turning the remix into an upbeat disco-inspired track. While I didn't particularly use a lot of disco conventions, the drums and bass definitely remind me of that style, and I think they worked great in supporting what was an already killer song.

Sonic Retro Theme
Remember playing this as a kid on the SMS. I loved the part of the beat that starts at 2:20. Felt like the game sped up when it kicked on
I played these games so much later - and I'm TERRIBLE at them - but they're still great. I love the colors and the insane sense of speed they have.
This would be a pleasant alarm sound. I wouldn't even be pissed that it's waking me up.
