Hello, I like the yellow Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V. Thanks for sharing. You may already know, although, if not, the precatalytic converter can go bad. They may clog up, and then break up. I've watched a few videos about these cars and done some reading at GrassRoots Sports, after watching a UA-camr who said the pre-catalytic converters can deteriorate and then break into pieces, that eventually get sucked back in towards the pistons. When the pieces hit the cylinder well seals, they break it up into microscopic pieces, eventually leading to a loss of compression. This sucking or vacuum, happens during shifts as you let off the clutch or during engine braking.
I was with my mom when she bought her brand new 06 SE-R automatic. She passed away last December. I inherited her car. It isn't perfect had to put about 2 plus grand just getting it back to being road worthy. It just flipped 88 thousand miles.
Nice to see interest in the B15 platform. Still have my '02 since new...And true on that paint job statement, clear coat completely off on roof, and some sides.
This is the same thing I see over and over in comment sections about SE-R or SpecV: I've owned it since new/still own it 10 years later, etc. That says a lot about a car and just how fun it is.
Make sure you do the second thermostat delete and replace the remain thermostat with an SR20 one. For whatever reason, the B15 Sentra SE-R's have two thermostats which can cause problems.
Get a header ASAP to replace the oem pre-cat else you risk engine failure. Also locktite the butterfly valves so your engine doesn't eat a screw. Once you do these to minor reliability mods you will have a very stout and reliable car. I would also recommend removing the balance shaft with the Jim Wolf kit. Nismo floor mats are pretty much non existent after all these years with any set you find will have 20yrs of use on them. I would LOVE to find Nismo products for my Spec but luckily I do have the Nismo header that I will be selling soon. when you install the header you will not need to change the radiator unless you go with the 2j Medusa header which has large runners. The Spec V does not have VTTC it uses something similar to VVTL which controls the Upper Plenums Butterfly valves opening them around 5500rpm allowing additional airflow into the manifold and that sweet sound it makes when they open, these are the screw I mentioned that need to be loctited (blue). Enjoy that sweet Spec, looks like your only issue is cosmetic which can be easily fixed.
Thanks man I appreciate it, I did buy the Medusa headers and never put them on because I'm not mechanically inclined enough and don't have the time. Unfortunately I'm going to be giving it to my girlfriend but fortunately I will be able to still work on it, drive it, and see it. I still drive it from time to time now and it's a blast. Im giving it to her because I know she will take care of it and I have a feeling that these will end up as collector cars in the future hence why I wanna still have it around and not in someone elses hands who I don't know. But eventually I will be doing those mods/upgrades. Currently gotta fix my Camry though
In 2006 the altima actually didn’t come with cvt transmissions. The 2006 Sentra SER auto still came with a 4 speed auto trans. It was in 2007 when Nissan ended putting the cvt trans on the sentra, altima and maximas which really killed it for Nissan unfortunately.
That’s actually a sweet car! Love the 6 speed as well, also keep in mind that shifting the transmission without the clutch in puts unnecessary wear on the syncros

One of the common gripes with the B15 from initial reviews back in the day is the torque-steer that exists in this car. Yet in the comments there’s always someone raving about how B15s are fun and quick at auto-cross. I just don’t get it. Dropping an engine that is worth more than the car and then turbo’ing it for more power just doesn’t seem worth the squeeze. In mid 2023, these things are going for only around US$3k - US$4k, which is a song for a reliable pocket tuner 15+ years after production. For us older Millennials that grew up with mid- to late-1990s Nissans, this Spec V captures that big KA24DE energy and grey felt-like interior. The B16s invoke the ugly and sterile “acres of grey plastic” interior design that is simply too ugly to love.
Yes, Around the Fur is arguably my favorite Deftones album lol. But I believe there is a conversion, the pre-facelft ones look alot better. But the car is a fun little thing but the first generation QR isn't the best for making power which sucks, it does handle corners quite well though! Those early 90s to 2000s JDM cars for sure have a certain feel to them and a very nostalgic feeling on the inside, I feel as if I'm back in the early 2000s with it. Another reason why I want a Prelude, such a cool car and it feels like I'm in the 90s

congrats on the new car. finding them in mostly stock form is getting harder. yea the cup holders suck.

You can build the qr to like 235whp , cheaper than doing a ve swap , or find a 01 that came with a sr n do the Frankenstein vvl head swap on it
Tip of owning this car, use a heat shield to cover the alternator.
