- Vampire Survivors Part 19 - it's time to dive into the new update! There's two new characters, but what's more exciting is this curse powerup! It gives enemies more HP, speed, amount, and frequency. Only enable if you're looking for a good challenge!

This powerup is not to be messed with. I've played a few games with it, and it is a serious step up in difficulty.
cool
Do hyper with it

With the ghost
Where’s the frostpunk vids? I got hooked on the series after the first episode and now ur killin me lol
The effect is mainly meant for level and or kill grinding. A guy by the name of BibleEvolved used it to reach level 220+ in one run.
Also for different challenge
Literally it's for a bonus challenge. Not just for level/kill grinding. If it was mainly for level or kill grinding it would not increase enemy hp
I'm nicknaming him Vespers and nobody can stop me.
It is what you make of it.

The reason that the brazier didn't break was because it was broken while it was off screen, so visually the brazier was there while in the game data, the brazier was already destroyed.
You can tell that it is already destroyed because your character can move through the sprite, which cannot happen unless the brazier has already been destroyed.
I hate that bug. Happens to me all the time in library.
just for fun, i've tried playing with max curses and no other powerups, as exdash, on green acres hyper mode, planning to take skull o' maniac within the first ten minutes. i never got far enough to find the item once
thats crazy
Same. Even with all powerups I can't get past the 20th minute. It's quite difficult.
A guy by the name of Dex modded it to 250% and was so lucky on library that he found a glitch spot with panda and its cherry bombs.
I’ve been doing the same with lama, it sucks
You should do Red Death, with max player speed, and try to max out wings to see if you can outrun the reaper
That's a great idea
@@Wanderer0981 The reaper teleports to you if you go far enough from it and stuns you making it impossible to move.
@@syedsakifrahman3021 bruh
@@syedsakifrahman3021 but what if you move just a bit faster than it, essentially kiting it around?
@@Wanderer0981 don’t really know if it’s like that. I would assume so from how he killed it in the library. Keeping in a short distance of it without getting teleported on. But that could be tough. But someone could do some calculations on the reaper’s speed to find the optimum speedfor the character. Real question is what would happen when another one show up. How would you account for that?
Speaking of old Red Death bugs, if you rolled negative health, you were invincible, even to the other Deaths, I "survived" >70 minutes because of it.
sounds like that sort of thing could be solved by putting boundaries on stat rolls lol
You should try using wings on slower characters to match move speed with an upgraded axe or a big meatball, preferably axe because they always get thrown in the same directions. You can just make a wall of infinite pierce damage
Unless it was changed, the scythe can only have so many projectiles on screen. You'll actually just end up following one scythe
The thing about Vespers is that its DPS happens in a really important zone: within striking distance of your character. So it's not just about raw DPS. It does matter where/how that DPS is applied. It also has a fast hit rate which helps with knock back.
It's a shame it's downgraded with Candelabrador tho
Yeah maxed out candelabra can hurt the defensive capability of Vespers and make it hard to hit enemies nearby you. If you combo Vespers with Garlic though, maxed candelabra works pretty well, due to the extra knockback and complementary AOEs of the two weapons.. Assuming you have something else augmenting your DPS though, otherwise the slightly lower than average DPS on Vespers and the definitely lower than average DPS on garlic won't keep up.

yep, the hp bonus is a 1.20 multiplier per iteration
Our eyes do have blind spots, but each eye covers the other one. Most tricks that show you this revolve around looking at a fixed point and hiding an eye, then the other. The blind spot is where the eyeball is connected to the optical nerve.
still waiting for the next upload of Frostpunk.
Same ! 😭😥
@@peaceful_man01 It has awesome worldbuilding and kind of a cool test of morality.
Let's gooo new update. Every episode of vampire survivors is amazing, actually rewatched all of the other vids in this series. Keep up the great content, thanks for entertainment night after night!
They could make some items give curse that would be kind of cool and an interesting way to balance things
there its actually a new item that gives 10% curse per level, but needs to play with the recent unlocked character (Lama) to get it offered in the options, so maybe we will see it 2 videos from now
Hey Tyler, I just thought I’d recommend a game for you to play since you’ve enjoyed the rogue-like-ness of vampire survivors. One of my favorite games ever is Risk of Rain 2. It’s a 3rd person rogue like with TONS of replay ability, items with different synergies, and hidden secrets and content! It’s getting a new DLC soon (March 1st) and I think it would be a perfect time for you to get into it. Just for your consideration. Love your content, keep up the great work!
Might be nice to have healthbars for powerful enemies like elites and reapers
Ah, I thought that the death spiral you had the first time you played reaper was stupid weak compared to when you normally evolve axe. It's because it wasn't getting any buffs from items.
Also when he took the axe a second time I thought "Well heck, here we go again with the unevolvable axe..." And of course it was the weakest weapon he had this game though it had better dps than I expected.
Part of me died when Tyler took Axe instead of trying for Lightning Ring with that duplicator. I love lightning evolved.
Since you keep talking about how crown seems worse than just damage upgrades: while yes, getting a damage upgrade will give you more xp, one crown upgrade with its 8% xp boost will usually give much more of a boost than just a singular weapon upgrade, unless that upgrade is really good like a duplicator level. What crown does is delay your power boost a bit to allow for a much higher spike a few minutes down the line. Now that isn't necessarily good because in the lategame it can become a liability, but it isn't strictly worse than a weapon upgrade because something like getting axe from level 4 to 5 will not give you nearly as much extra xp in most scenarios.
Where crown shines (beyond the two "get *character* to level 100 achievements obviously, but those aren't really something you go for in regular runs) is if you are going for vandeleer, since then you basically have two extra weapons to level in addition to needing a lot of levels before you get your power spike since the birds start out very weak. Add an extra 7th passive like empty tome from the library into the equation and you will only cap out on upgrades around level 80, which is very hard to achieve without crown. Now, if you have vandeleer you probably would get there by the endgame anyways, yes, but it would be very easy to get stuck in a rut while trying to level ebony wings and peachone and die to being underleveled in the midgame, which is what crown helps you avoid.
I entirely disagree. Sure the crown gets you extra exp, but the delay in getting actual upgrades means you're essentially always 1-5 levels lower than you should be. At level 30 with 5 crowns, your power is only that of a level 25.
So the actual cost of the crown is those LAST 5 levels minus whatever exp it's given you extra. According to the wiki (and if I'm reading it right), getting to level 30 costs a total of about 5200 exp. Getting from 25 to 30 would have taken about 1500 exp. Let's maximize the crown profit and say it gave you the full 40% growth boost for that 5200 exp - about 1300 exp. So you would be level 25 instead of 30 with the same non-crown items, but you be 200 exp into your next level if you DIDN'T get the crowns.
My calculations show that you only break even at level 45 or so. The crown has been a HINDRENCE (not just a non-issue) until that point. It's making you require more exp for every useful item you get. Most games with these kinds of effects make that same mistake.
Who all are still waiting for next frostpunk vid 😥?
Will there be more frostpunk, you said you’d recorded more videos on it?

People do have a blind spot it's not about focusing but a small spot that is constant we just don't notice it. It's pretty much just the spot where all the info goes through

i would like to comment on the ranking of the red death in the character tier list. I agree that every single niche that red death tries to excel in can be outclassed by another character. However, the fact that red death has so many niches (lots of hp, easy early game, speed, strength) would probably at least make it an easier character to play. Only my opinion though, and maybe specialising in a single niche like other characters is better.
Try performing a run where you habe to grab items that do not increase your ability to kill. Like attract orb, crown, stone mask, clocklancet, laurel, and whatever they are going to name the curse "upgrade."
Hey Tyler have you checked out Rouge tower yet? A Rouge like tower defense game something you might really enjoy! Would love to see you play it
There is a secret character that is a Psnda with a special item called Cherry Bomb if you exit a run through the menu.
Not even close to first, but I wanna say I love watching your content!
Curse sounds like a really cool additional upgrade. Curious to know what they do with it.
Something i would love to see is more advanced super wepons like for example pentagram tirigisu and clock lancet
It could have an effect that when you die it kills all enemys and stops enemys from spawning for a 5 second window
an idea for evolved pentagram could be with the clock lancet (similar to vandalier). it would be sweet, it could just vaporize enemies in the clock lancet pattern, or even a constantly spinning clock hand of death rotating around you. If you wanted it to have vandalier esque upgrades it could start off really slow and speed up with upgrades, or not do insta-killing damage and instead deal high damage with the freeeze effect on top of it.
So by your logic...
It could start out by completing a rotation that lasts a minute, before shortening itself to something much faster.

So with Hollow Heart, is it +20% of your base total, or your current total?
Current total, because 255•1.2^5≈635 which was his health at the end
i stand with tyler as a proud attractorb hater
If you want a challenge, you could try a nuzlocke, starting at max curse, and just give each character a try until you succeed.
That opportunity cost for every upgrade you're mentioning is even more damning for the crown.
Getting 5 levels of the crown for a 40% exp boost means those 5 levels aren't spent elsewhere. You're essentially 5 levels lower than you would be if you'd gotten something else instead.
So if you spent your first 5 levels on crowns, then your "first" level (of actually useful stuff) takes 55 exp (at 40% growth) instead of just 5 exp (at 0% growth). That's the cost for lv 6 to 7 vs 1 to 2. The 5 exp that should get you your first item only gets you 5*1.4/55=12.7% of the way to your first (non-crown) item.
Based on my maths using the wiki data, you only break even on the crown's level/exp costs after 20 levels... and not until 45 if you got all 5 crowns before level 25.
Not only does the crown take up a space that a useful item could use, it means you're weaker than your potential for most of the round. Trash item you should never take, unless you need it for a weapon.
You often see that kind of crap in games, then when you math it out find that the item is functionally useless. I've seen a game where the exp boost doesn't even outweigh the increase per level. As in an extra 20% exp doesn't make up the next level costing 30% more then the one you just got. That 20% "boost" is essentially a -10% curse. Not the case for this game, but it's still not great.
Day 20 of asking Tyler to play shattered Pixel dungeon
I think a fun challenge might be taking every powerup, but also have max curse, and win without evolving a weapon
unfortunately on green acres hyper mode with no power ups. Its extremely difficult to survive early/mid game on almost every character. I've tried more than 30 times and I only made it pass 20mins once in my best run (28:30). Mask of the red death is the ONLY character you can add curse on top of no upgrades/green acre/hyper with some reasonable chance of winning.
I'm sure you will soon realise that once you start doing it with a different character. Your late game scaling characters doesn't mean shit if you can't survive the first 15mins 90% of the games. Hence why I do think red death is the best character in the game since it allows you to consistently survive the early game and you could focus straight to getting late game skills/secondaries instead of trying to get 20 levels of main skill to do damage.
The late game is quite easy, if you survive to 20mins with reasonable skills, you are almost guaranteed to win. out of the 30 tries i got, half of them I didn't survive to 12.
Hey Tyler, not sure if your looking for a new puzzle game or not but you should check out "The Signal State" a programming style, apocalypse, frequency game with user made puzzles too. I'd check it out if I were you. There is a free demo.
255*1.2^5=634 So it seems that when a hollow heart upgrade says it increases your max Hp by 20% it actually does.
I think laurel will evolve with spinich also I think a projectile that is lobbed and gives a shadow on where it is landing would be a good way to implement ranged enemies
Just did the numbers on Hollow Heart...
Yep. It's exponential.
re: attractorb, I've played a number of games now where I practically ignore the xp on the ground, focusing almost entirely on positioning to kill as absolutely fast as possible. I abandon the xp on the ground, moving in one more or less constant direction, and when I feel like I'm ready to "bank" I turn around and within a screen or two will be a giant merged red gem. Intentionally ignoring the xp seems to make the merging more consistent. I'm not sure what the exact mechanics are, but I suspect you don't lose out on any xp this way, and especially on some of the good farming waves you can make a LOT more xp if you focus on hunting rather than gathering.
Before misingno stopped being random I got -350 speed. Which means I had 250 speed but with reversed controls. Weeeeird run. Fun tho.
wish i had vacuum luck
i usually only find one attractorb a game and its always early on
you can get 50% from power up
30 % from the new character lama
50% from the new passive item you can get in game
for a grand total of 130%
a 130% run in hyper green acres sounds like a fun challenge
with no other power ups if you are feeling really brave
Playing with 130% curse feels impossible I can’t get survive long enough to even get a build going lol 100% curse with death is as far as I can get cuz of his speed and health
They might have changed Red Death so that challenge/score hunters and similar won't just reroll the character until they get the stats that they want.
I just can't stop watching this game , once I get in I find myself finishing the 30 mini. It's just so entertaining keep going Tyler.
“Every new character introduced has to be slightly stronger than average”
Me: *Laughs in Binding of Isaac*
Play the Panda and max AOE, DMG and projectile speed. It's pretty slow at the start but op lategame
Imagine not being early
They should make a boss fight game mode. Instead of surviving 30minutes you must kill a extremely huge extremely high hp enemy
I think it'd be cool to watch a stream of this or wait an extra day or two for a multi-game episode
Yeah missingno got me more than 100% cooldown reduction and I spawned infinite projectiles and crashed the game 😁 that makes me agree that it was a liability.
Personallly the game would be a lot more fun and have a much higher skill ceiling as a bullet hell rather than the kinda horde mower game it currently is. Atm its a game of optimising your upgrades and for the most part "dodging" is just run around in a circle. Im not saying it should be changed because if the dev wanted to make a bullet hell they would have made one so this is obviously just the devs choice and I still really like the game and respect the devs choice in the direction they want to take the game.
I did the math. 255 * 1.2^5 is indeed 635. Hollow Heart is multiplicative, not additive.
Well, 255 * (1.2)^5 = 634 so that wouldn't explain the HP amount.
If you want more ...fun... try axe gun lol... he get 50% more harder as time goes on... its a really good run and fun :P try it ;)
death spiral apparently actually useful when the items you get work on it haha
Watching this series prompted me to try the game out, and I'm absolutely impressed by how good you are, I perish super fast
"It is fun to still do mass killings inside the enemy territory." -Tyler
the panda can be crazy on the library
His balls (giggydy) bounce on obstacle get in a good position and you can chesse with him
you should do a tank/lifesteal run, entirely with tank supporter items like laurel garlic hollow heart etc now that u can get a fuck ton of hp and revives with the reaper character
Do a run of nova drift using the base weapon, you can do this by pressing esc while you have the upgrade menu up!
I modded Lama to get his ability every level instead of ever 10, it was too much curse.
Dose it sound like Tyler just hit his second round of puberty and is right on his limit before his voice breaks
thought of a character with bad stats overall but that has 1 extra weapon and item slots. inversely, a character with less slots and better overall stats
Whole lotta gamies
As a potential challenge, use red death and go for wings and go for max speed, just for the meme
Hollowed heart gives 20% of your current max hp
Hi Tyler, are you going to do a video on the Panda character with the cherry bomb ability?

Wanna make sure this gets said, but i understand that the want to continuously make in upload might pull quite hard, but if you're not having fun with a game purely because you want something recorded for the future, you dont have to do it. Its fine to have a break in the schedule, especially if you wanna just have a break
if trying for a reaper killing run takes hours and becomes not fun anymore, you can always do it later.

The YT algorithm hates that tho. Like, will literally stop promoting his channel as much for a long time if he takes any break.
