Really appreciate these videos keeping us updated. Was in Dawlish 10 days ago and was impressed by the work that has been done. It has transformed the front.
Seeing different view of the cliff , it all looks so very different doesn’t it. Jack is a very clever man with his knowledge of things. Thank you Jack for sharing this with us, and beach cam man for all the updates you bring us. All very interesting work, hard to get my head around it all, I would have no idea where to even start doing all this, well alone Jack keeping things in order.
@21:40. I wondered, a few weeks ago, about the mismatch between the stair slabs creating a shallow step. Presumably the step where the plank of wood is will be eventually built up an reprofiled. It was just noticeable from the Sea Breeze cam. As always a very interesting video, Neil and Jack, and many thanks for the continuing coverage of this immense project.👍
BCM’s work over the last couple of years I think he will be more than partly responsible for Dawlish’s renaissance over the next few years. I hope the Mayor reads this and considers awarding Neil “the keys of the city” 👏👏👏
hiya guys yet another brill update video and the stairs bridge and lift shafts have come a long way and look beautiful. cant wait for it to be all finished now they are so close cant say how proud i am with jack and his orange army in what they have achieved for our beautiful Dawlish station and our beautiful sea wall. and a massive well done to you neil for doing all the videos and updates with jack and keeping us right there in the action. peter anne and ella
This video helped me to appreciate the *Sea Breeze Cam Dawlish, Devon Live Webcam* view of the station's lifts construction. It answered many of my internal questions! THANK YOU! 👏 ~Lyn, from Washington State, USA ♥
A very informative video, thank you. As Jack said all the work has a design life of 120 years. In the past that sort of working life of the sea wall was not possible to predict especially with climate change and the storm that caused the catastrophic damage. It's great to see it being fixed and the investment put in...👍👍
Very interesting, wondering how much each one of those stainless threaded/ galvanised bars are ?? I bet they are not cheap... What grade stainless (304?) is being used ,
Regarding the foot bridge at the station and any other above track structures added have been sufficiently well future proofed during the design phase to allow for any potential electrification. Where Network Rail have done some recent structure changes, no provision for electrification has not been considered, so the future for a true green railway network with coherent economics doesn't appear to figure.
I bet you don’t watch channel four or ITV either. These free offerings are not everyone’s preference. (Best to keep paying monthly if you can afford it I guess)…
It's not government funded to be correct it is tax payer funded. The fact that Dawlish has had to suffer the last few years of continued construction of this eyesore and all the issues it has caused the seaside community. Primarily because the railway was lacking in its maintenance of the sea wall in the first place. The sea wall was fine for a long time, but that was before companies were more interested in profit than maintenance of the infrastructure of the business. What we now have is something a kin to the preparations for world wars 3 battlements on the Dawlish sea front. As to the felling of the mature trees on Lea Mount for the cliff work, I for one do not believe that was necessary. It just made it easier for the contractors. I will be glad when this ridiculous circus to build this concrete monstrosity is over. As to the amount of green house gases produced in the construction of this eyesore, I hate to imagine and waste of tax payers money on total overkill of a project.
Hi Bill, I respect all of your comments. One the few upsides in my view and what I am pleased about is the future integrity of the surviving seafront properties should be more assured. In turn that might encourage more long term Dawlish investment. This should enable the younger working families to remain here and flourish.
Perhaps you have missed the clear and explicit explanations of the work; this has been shown on this channel over a period of years now. The reality is that the original sea wall was not built well enough in the first place; the builders did not, of course, have the benefit of modern technology.
Great video as always the skills and the presentation with the knowledge and guidance by Jack and Neil always worth a watch. UK👍

Thanks for keeping us locals and the world up to date on what's going on in our little station.
Absolutely brilliant. Thanks Jack and Neil. What a team bringing the Dawlish news and a detailed explanation of what they are achieving.

Do you know what is planned for the station building?
That depends on sale price!
Out of interest, seeing the top has been completed on the lift shaft, how will the actual lift interior be installed into the shaft.
There may well be a video of the lift construction coming.
V informative - but what is CBU please?
Cliff behavioral unit. 🙂
Thanks Neil and Jack

Next he will be adding Sheep Cam !!!
Those lift shafts are a bit "brutalist", are you going to add graffiti or leave it to the locals? 😆
Can't watch anymore, TOO MANY ADVERTS !!!!
It's easy enough to avoid them .........
youtube premium..£10 a month...its a life changer...
No need to spend money .....

they should have just let it be and allow the whole track to fall into the sea
@@madgebishop5409 That seems a bit extreme Madge, are you anti railways or something? It’s a very important route.
