    "Though it's got just two seats, the revived T-Bird ain't no sports car. Rather, this retro-dressed Lincoln derivative is a boulevardier sure to turn every head in town."

    Ford killed the production of this car due to poor sales, but this is one of the few cars out there that has actually appreciated in price.

    I have one of these cars. Owned it over a year now. Black on black. Made a trip and returned recently from Florida where I bought a black hardtop for it on ebay. Now my car is complete with both tops. I cannot count all the compliments I have had on this car. Had one fellow offer to trade even for his Nissan SUV after I had walked out of a store drinking a cola heading to my car when he stopped me and made the offer.

    I bought a gray 03. It's been in the shop for about a month I've driven this car the total time of one hour. The modular went out start and die. Took it back to the dealership. They're pretty good guys I since I bought in 4 years ago so now 2 with the new user. But them parts are hard to find. An high-dollar. Hopefully I get it back soon. It's not the black one I want it but. From what I drove it yes it is a cool ride and yes you turn a lot of heads. Especially when your long hair maker looking guy like me.👍🏽👏🏽🙏🏽🙋🏽‍♂️😊

    Definatly a unique car. Don't think it would get me interested though. If back in the day I would have gotten a corvette, though I have to say this was more innovative. The 02 corvettes had pop-up headlights. Good video

    I've just gotten around to looking at this video again and largely because I've been thinking over what I'm about to say. I go back to the time, and before actually, when Ford came out with the 1st Thunderbird. Well as 13 year old I was blown away by that 1st 'Bird and always hoped it would be continued as a two seater. But Ford had a better idea and developed those 3 model year square birds. I guess it was a better idea considering how many they sold and for so long. Consider for a minute that the two seater only lasted for three model years and then the 4 seater came along. No hype, no fancy advertising they just did it. Now, the "new 'Bird lasted how long? Four model years and it was gone! Well, was it? No hype, no fuss and out came the 2006 Fusion. Look on you tube at the pictures of interiors, exteriors, shape of the roof, door panels, interior door treatments and the dashes of the Fusion and the T-Bird. Call it a family resemblance or whatever. I'd say it was more than a coincidence, or maybe it was deliberate. Anyway, I'm sure the Fusion wasn't designed overnight and had to be waiting in the wings when the bird ended its run in 2005 and the Fusion came out. Surely wasn't the 1st time a Thunderbird was stretched to accommodate 4 people. The Fusion was a sales success even if the Thunderbird wasn't a sales runaway at the time it certainly will get more desirable as time goes by.
    The definition of coincident is something that happens at the same time, exists in the same place or is the same as something else. An example of coincident is two people dropping a glass at the same time in a restaurant. I'll bet the designers, stylists and engineers were at work on the Fusion when the 11th generation T-Bird was being put on duty. What do you think?

  • @allisonrettman1

    As stated in the well produced video, the HP was bumped to 280 from 2003-2005. A couple of years ago, I ran across and purchased a 2004 Premium in blue, with a black/white contrasting leather seats and trim. Not only was the car in almost perfect shape and had low miles, the price was unbelievably cheap. This was NOT the case when dealer had these on the lots new. They were literally getting up to $50,000+ on these cars, which totally killed the market. If this car could have been sold for under $40k, Ford would still be making these. The interior trim is rather cheaply made, but there is plenty of space for two. Behind the seats is a shelf large enough for a big purse, jacket, etc to stow away. The trunk is actually very large for a convertible, and you lose zero space when the soft top goes down. This is not the case with most convertibles.
    Now, about the handling - I will agree that in no way is this car a sports car, but a sporty luxury tourer, and it is excellent at that. This is because of the weight (3,700 lbs) to power ratio. Let me just state though, that this car is very low, has a wide stance, and if you slap on a set of Proxis 4 or related sport touring tires, is as sticky and stable on curvy mountain roads as you can get while pushing spirited speeds.
    I personally don't think this car would work as a 4 seater. It would literally be a land boat to make it work, and the appeal would have been far less I think, due to the fact that there are already far better 4-seater choices for less money.
    I will end with agreeing that, if you are in the market for a used 2-seat convertible that rides like a luxury car and not a Porsche, then this should be on your short list to test drive.

    Not really into those thunderbirds. I always dug the 89 to 97 thunderbirds because they were pretty ballsy cars and ford was on their A-Game with the Thunderbird SC. I REALLY think they should've continued the trend of competing with the corvette and feel like even today, thunderbird should be competing with corvette and NOT mustang. If Ford had sense they'd stop making "collectibles'' and start making COMPETITORS! Thunderbird has been gone long enough now to where they could start fresh with all new car and go DIRECTLY after corvette. But of course...they want to force you behind the wheel of yet ANOTHER mustang. Not knocking mustang but good god. What ever happened to poster cars? The thunderbird CAN be that car that competes with the ZR1 and doesn't apologize for doing so.

    • @PaiddJr
      @PaiddJr 8 років тому +1

      Ford GT competes and mops the floor with any corvette. The Thunderbird needs to comeback out but as a cruiser like it should be.

    • @nezerac
      @nezerac 8 років тому

      PaiddJr
      Nooooo, noooo. Ford has enough cruisers and the NEW GT mops the floor with corvette but we still don't have a ZR1 which is fabled to be MR....that's bad news for the GT. I'm sure the LS is lighter than the boosted v6. And if GM decides to go with turbo, ford has a real fight on their hands. Lastly comparing the Gt to the Corvette just isn't fair man. This is coming from a ford man. lol.

    • @PaiddJr
      @PaiddJr 8 років тому +1

      +nezerac What Crusiers does Ford make? the Focus? the Fiesta? the Fusion? NO. Ford doesn't make any V8 boulevard Cruiser there's no Crown Vic, no Towncar and there definitely no Murader and they need too. The Ford GT was brought out to end the Joke on America that we couldn't produce a supercar. Although we had the super light V8 Corvette and the orginal Lamborghini crafted V10 Viper which both are fast very fast, but both are very hard to control. Ford said F*** It we beat on Ferrari in the 60's and we will do it again the same way and they did by mid mounting a 5.4 Triton wideblock truck motor and adding a blower.

    • @PaiddJr
      @PaiddJr 8 років тому

      +nezerac The mustang excluding the first two generations, has Never and Never will compete with the corvette. The GT 350R is a pony car. All mustangs are pony cars. The Corvette is a supercar. There is no denying any of the above.

    • @nezerac
      @nezerac 8 років тому

      PaiddJr
      What cruisers does ford make? Are you kidding me? Focus Titanium and Fiesta Titanium seem like cruisers to me. Small and compact but not really sporty in any sense. The flex, Escape, Fusion, the entire lincoln brand, the mustang GT is the most common cruiser out there even though it's a muscle car and now transforming into a real sports car. I think your idea of a cruiser is set far back in the 70's when today a cruiser is a mitsubishi eclipse GT or even an old Z28 from the 90's. These cars all had cruising options as standard. You'd have to be adamant about spending the money to get something that wasn't centered around cruising first. I think you've lost your shit on this one, Sir!!

    This car should have totally had rear seats. I can imagine grandparents' wanting to buy one to cart grandkids around in, or even a parent as a second car (or even 1st if they don't need a lot of space). 2 seats on a luxury car really limits it, esp to the ages of people who'd be drawn to the styling.

    • @armymatt83
      @armymatt83 8 років тому +1

      +quack man (quackman) that's exactly the kind of thinking that ruined the thunderbird in the first place. this car was a attempt by ford to return the thunderbird to the 55'-57' original.

    • @quackman
      @quackman 8 років тому

      Well, that and mixing it with some thoughts of making this car "sporty" in dropping the rear seats. If they stuck to the same line of thought, it may not have been a car you were interested in, but it could've been a success.

    • @armymatt83
