Fridge soup is what I call this , I have my grandma recipe and use what ever is in the fridge that needs to be used and add it too if needed .
My mama called that mustgo soup. Everything that must go ends up in the soup. :)
@@patriciaflaherty5029 I love that name
I call this soup funeral soup. When a family member was dying this sou was on the stove simmering for all of us going from hospital to home. It was so comforting to find a hot tasty meal waiting for us no matter what time of day it was. When a friend's husband died i made a huge pot of this soup for her and the family. She said how delicious the soup was and she wanted to know the name! She really didn't like my name of it. I don't care what you call it i must say that it is the most comforting meal i have ever eaten.
Oh blessyou, hmmm! I think I have always called it comfort soup..as you say what ever we call it,its definitely lovely and delicious. Take care. X
On Monday we called it hamburger stew and by Friday it was vegetable soup. I was a great meal for a single mother and 4 hungry kids.
LOL❤ I LOVE IT. LMAO❤😂
I remember you saying there will be a wash house but you haven’t mentioned middle of the night potty needs. Elderly people almost always have a need. It really is cute. Can’t wait to see it decorated. 😊
I've been meaning to tell you how much I love your introduction now, very nice
Thank you!
Love following your family. Living in B C is incredible.. Lets hope with the new by laws we can continue. What happens in the U S usually continues here... and that is stopping all small farms...and eating NON meat products.. This is happening folks do your research.
It looks cute! Great job Dan! Blessings!
❤ I keep telling my husband, that I want to go to Canada, meet you in person & stay in your Bunkie, & see your beautiful property❤
(& definitely pick tomatoes lol)
Have a great day everyone 😊
I used a pressure washer to strip the old layer off my old little log home. the pressure washer worked perfect
Such a beautiful skyline, the gardens are waking up, and your Bunky has turned out so nice. I will be surprised if it stays empty for long.😊
A small compositing toilet like an Ogo would be great in your Bunkie. Much easier in wet and snowy conditions than having to traipse outside. Plus no plumbing costs involved just coir blocks.
Great chopped up veggies. Big house project replenishing the dirt but it will be fabulous. How fun is the bunky. How great you have dinner done! The floor looks great! The plan for the bunky sounds perfect.
We live in a very high tourist area during the summer, and I've talked with my husband about building a small cabin to rent out on our property. Your bunkie is definitely giving me some ideas.
🇦🇺You could make a covered area with outside cooking and heater/outdoor lounge on a platform with several Bunkie’s surrounding the outdoor lounge/cooking area. Great for larger families or friend groups etc.
Thank you for this wonderful recipe. I can’t wait to try it.
For the cabin/bunkie have you considered the tiny all in one sink/fridge/burners/cabinet combos that they make. Home depot has them online. Just a thought...in case you are interested, they are called compact kitchens on their website.
For the bunkie, you could do a small table on a hinge with a brace that can fold down onto the wall and get some nicer folding chairs that can be set aside when not in use!
Thanks for sharing your life with us! Pretty neat project! Always enjoy tagging along with you!😊
When I make this soup,I omit the ground beef, turnip and green pepper and add swede and a large leek.Instead of wheat,I sometimes add tiny pasta stars. However you make it,it's delicious.
What a fun video today! Your editor is working magic and I love it. You should introduce all the people you have working for you - one day at a time. They are such a big part of your gardens and ability to make this wonder land of lush growth. I open YT every morning with my first cup of coffee and press the 2nd show on their list - always Garden Answer and always a treat! I need to go back and rewatch the rosemary episode as mine is beginning to take off with lovely green shoots and I NEED it so much. Again, your editor was so funny.
What a lovely video! It’s kind of funny, though, when it comes to what we love. I absolutely love black olives. I cannot, just cannot, stand parsnips. They taste like a dish rag that’s been sitting a little too long in the sink. 🤣 But we can agree that French onion soup makes everything taste delicious. Thanks Chelsea. Be well. ❤️
The bunky came out soooo very nice!! Well done! And so very useful and practical! 💕
Thanks so much! 😊
Love your bunkie! So cozy! I wonder if you have any concerns about dust, dirt, lint falling off feet and ladder into the kitchen work space?
I can’t believe you have no snow!!?! Here in Maine we had a nasty storm last Saturday with about 6-7 inches of snow and ice.. 😑😩
Lol i know we have snow in michigan right now 😂
Wow the bunkie is looking snazzy and cute u are lucky Dan is such a good worker he works to detail
Have a great day Chelsea love u to. Bits
Still enjoying your beautiful green cupboards in the kitchen! The bunky is adorable! Can't wait to see how you have it decorated. Your soup is a wonderful vegetable soup even if you left out the hamburger but I can't wait to make this. I live with my daughter and family in a side suite and enjoy soup but no one else does. Having so many things on hand is great for this and I'll just freeze individual helpings - great for an old granny that has too much fun playing with her grands to bother cooking. Actually, I love cooking things they like: cookies, pie, pudding, veg sides, and beans. You have the best recipes!
Hi Chelsey. ❤
Your soup looks delicious. Congrats on the flooring in the bunky.
Lovely tour of bunky, well, your garden prep and your soup sounds very nutritious with all those wonderful ingredients. Thank you for sharing!
The bunkie plans are very good, but I really think that for older folks, there should be an indoor toilet, especially for the night. I am 76 years old and do need a toilet in the night. Would not want to walk to an outhouse.
That’s why we’re using our travel trailer for the older visitors. It has a bathroom.
The way you guys live gives me so much inspiration for my future! Thank you for making these videos Chelsea !❤️❤️❤️
My bff is a huge gardener and she has found the one from Costco and then over the years she has covered it in crush , taken years but her garden is amazing and produces so much fir her family . She cuts her raspberries to the ground , she has bigot and wire for hers . She has several varieties, the Golden are her fav . Her blackberries have gone crazy some berries almost thumb size . She lives in Vernon.
❤SO ITS BASICALLY VENUS DEMILO SOUP. IM FROM MASSACHUSETTS THERES A RESTAURANT THAT MAKES IT.❤
I do something similar with a few different vegetables
Everything is exciting & busy at the ranch! Thanks for sharing your recipes, initiatives & progress! Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦
I grew up with a simple hamburger soup but delicious. Ground beef, onions, garlic, cubed carrots, potatoes, and turnip. Salt and pepper. Let that cook then add macaroni and tomato soup or pasta. It should be thick like a stew. It is always better the next day.
Hubby and I just had the conversation about layers today! I had to put the second wool blanket back ON the bed. Same with clothes. Morning and evening are chilly, but afternoon is warm! Your soup looks amazing.
Suggest in the future cabins for seniors, look into a Murphy bed rather than having to climb stairs. FYI there is a outdoor plywood which has its own nonslip texture. In the Seattle area it is carried by Dunn Lumber. I have it on both my porches. It is amazing stuff. Keep jugs of ice melt inside your cabins. Cheap insurance vs a costly fall. Keep big containers of hydrated lime in outhouses. Just like livestock stalls keeps smell down.
Great video! Bunkie looks wonderful! very generous of you. Will be nice when it's all done.
Loving the bunkie. Hamburger soup looks so yummy. Garden beds so exciting!! hugs
I just walked past the bedding section when I was in Walmart today, and they have their woodsy, rustic Canadiana line for bedding too.
❤❤❤
I would poor that water into the other jars first to get allllllllll the goodness lol😊
The bunkie is cool. Your property is beautiful.
The bunkie is looking great. Great job Dan!
Lovely💛
Are you going to name each bunkie? They are so cute I know whoever comes will truly love them. Your hamburger soup looks delicious I had made some as well tasted good on a cool day. Thank you for sharing.
That bunke is AMAZING!
Love it.
Love all your videos. You and Dan are so cute together. I do wish you would give us more updates on the lambs.
Soup looks great Chelsea.
Hamburger soup.was my dad's favorite. He liked it with barley and pasta. Great looking bunkie 🎉
I make a very similar soup. Wonderful! Thanks for the video !
The bunkie is really lovely and your attention to detail is going to make it even better,. I've always wanted to visit Canada, but I'm 60 now and not likely to ever get the chance, so I hope all your future guests really embrace the lifestyle as I know I would. ❤
Oh sixty is still young. Go for it. You only live once.
Girl- get up and go right now! 60 is the new 49!🤭 just do it
@@lorimcmichael5846agreed! I'm spending a month in Greece on my own this summer, just like last year. I'd better start saving for the air fare to Canada. 😁
My husband and I didn't start really traveling until I was 60 (Caribbean cruise for my 60th birthday) and he was 62! Go for it!🤗🇺🇸
I grew up eating hamburger soup. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I need to can the French onion soup you make this year. I think it would be wonderful for so many recipes. I enjoy watching your channel. I also grew up with my family raising sheep. It’s been fun reminiscing about those things while I watch you. 19:36
Enjoyed the video 😊
Oh, the little houses are going to be lovely I like that you’re even make the outhouse closer. Make sure you put some solar lights out there to get to the outhouse maybe get some that hang onto the trees who knows I don’t know but they’re gonna be cute. I like the update please keep us posted on the other as well
You can use you wire whisk to break up the hamburger. I add a bit of chili powder as well. It adds depth.❤
yummy!
Yummy soup and cute bumkie
Patchwork quilt for your bunkee
I'm definitely going to try this recipe! ~Kim
Happy Birthday 🎂🎉🎊🎈
Thank you!! 💕
Hi Little Mountain Ranch- this was a nice video and your soup looked Amazing! I do have a question about the Bunkie, can it withstand Canadian winters? How will you keep it warm? and thank you for sharing.
Did I miss the bathroom/toilet in the Bunkie?
I would use a bigger pot.
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Hi Chelsea and Dan. The bunky looks so awesome. It’s adorable even. Fun you making this soup cause I am eating some right now, I made earlier today. Only difference is I used barley in it and moose burger. It’s so good. Anyways take care 🌷🇨🇦
soup looks good! would be good with mini shell pasta or rice added too!
Great looking bunky!! Trying to find the link
Found it. Love them
❤
I've just removed my gooseberry brushes because of the thorns. They make picking almost impossible, in my experience. Plenty else to put in its place.
The bunkie looks great. They look like tiny homes here in the U.S.
Would love to visit you and stay in the bunkie. Like to come in the summer and help with the garden, or canning. I have done canning but not with a pressure canner. Never too old to learn something new. I garden but not on your scale.
Hi Chelsea, just wanted to let you know I really like the …format?? You are using with the videos- artistic editing camera work etc.. the changes are noticeable and very 👍🏻
Oh thank you!
In the field beside our place there was several Hawthorn Trees , oh my they are brutal with the huge thorns , our cats came home several times with them embedded in them some where, one had to be cut out it went in so deep into tue muscle . Hubby got rid of them .
In Ireland nobody dares get rid of Hawthorne trees - the fairies wouldn’t like it ! 😊
I heard that comfrey creates a barrier to prevent quack grass invasions. I’m wondering if a line of comfrey next to the lawn and a secondary row of perennials like rhubarb between the comfrey and garden. (Comfrey doesn’t spread so much if the soil around it isn’t disturbed) 🤷🏼♀️
Buy the blocking 14 cultivar. It’s non invasive.
How are you going to get a queen size bed up there? Will there be a lock on the door?
love the little bunkie. did you find the part to your new mixer you looking for the other day
I did! Behind the stove. Lol
May I please ask why the space that was built was made so tiny? Was it an existing space that was just redone or perhaps the permit doesn't allow for a bigger space? I'm just wondering why it couldn't be a little bit bigger.
Cute bunkie Chelsea! Will the water work in the winter or do you intend it only for summer? I have (I think) been successful with a quack grass battle by using a heavy layer of cardboard over an area with 1 ft of woodchip covered with a black tarp for 1 yr. So far, this is the 3rd year, there has not been quack regrowth. 🤞😄
The water works year around.
What brand of knives do you use, please?
How is your sister and family doing that lost the child a year or two ago?
It’s been a hard year. Thank you for asking.
So sorry to hear about this. Losing a child is hard. 💔❤🫂
Chelsea, question! Trying to use the Bosch for bread. There are no recipes! Do you use any bread recipe and if you want more than a loaf just triple it or whatever?
You got it!
I think she made 3 loaves in it the last time
👍🌺👍🌺👍🌺
Did you peel those carrots and parsnips? I would want them peeled! (maybe you did, I just didn’t see it).
She said she had already peeled them and just had to chop them 😊
How do you get the mattress up there
It's vacuum sealed.
We have raspberry bushes. Never again!! Ours have thorns and they are spreading to my raised beds. 😡
Maybe sandblast before you paint.
We will be.
Is there,an outside,shower??
Have you ever canned the hamburger soup?
How many bunnies do you have?
Oops, bunkies, not bunnies!!!!!
Could you can this soup? I think so?
As a Brit can someone please tell me why beef mince is called hamburger on the other side of the pond! Ham is pig, always been confused over this.
Because you make hamburgers out of it lol 🍔
Some think the root is from Northern German immigrants that were behind the original ground meat sandwiches. They were from Hamburg region.
Is a queen sized mattress going to fit up the hatch?
Actually it's ground beef here but many people refer to it as hamburger, I think because it's the protein most commonly used to make hamburgers.
Do you have issues with animals eating up your garden?
What about a toilet ?
Oh, okay, an outhouse
Your out house is too far away.
There is no smell if you treat the outhouse as you use it.
