  • PART 2 OF 3 :: Legendary bodybuilder Kevin Levrone joins Dave Palumbo on RXMuscle's 1 on 1 interview talk show, Live With. In this second of three parts, Levrone talks about meeting Joe Weider for the first time and how the bodybuilding icon would change his life. He goes on to talk about how Dorian Yates, and his trademark grainy freak factor, changed bodybuilding and how fellow bodybuilders knew that if Dorian came at his best, it was lights out!

    Dorian from the back was just untouchable. He had the genes for extreme density in a deficit. People always assume genetics is bone structure and muscle insertion but not everyone can get granite.

      thats true, dorian even admitted his so called grainy look was a result of low body fat, zero sub cutaneous water( leannses and dryness), plus dense muscles and over thin skin over that...he said many times he had very thin skin .
      H also had an insane ability to dry out, look at the 96 Olympia whcih was tested for diuretics, that was maybe his all time driest ever, without those diuretics..

      but Dorian without all this drugs gh /stéros etc etc would have a very classic back like lot's of men who train in gyms only for their health.

  • @alexstarling3229
    @alexstarling3229 4 роки тому +1

    You're absolutely correct. My personal opinion (and it is just my opinion), is that in 1997, they started testing for potent (super effective) loop diuretics. Dorian Yates, Flex Wheeler, Paul Dillet, Tom Prince, etc. all used Demadex and Lasix. All the guys nowadays rely on Potassium-sparing diuretics like Aldactone (aldosterone blocker), Dyazide, and Aldactazide. Those are way weaker!!! Also Esciclene (a water-based, muscle irritant that was site injected with a 30 gauge insulin needle) which added wicked shape to muscle bellies and was discontinued in 1998... So some athletes started turning to "Pump n' Pose" (Synthol) which ruined many physiques. So harsher diuretics, site injections which didn't blur out muscle details have an impact! Another drug that was used in the 90's era by Chris Cormier and other top guys was "Cytadren" which dries you out like nothing else. It inhibits cortisol, estrogen and aldosterone. It worked really well despite being very dangerous. Athletes started using it 2-4 weeks out from a contest. Today, you would have to run Arimidex, Proviron AND Aldactone to come close to the benefits of Cytadren. So basically, the 90's era had Demadex, Bumex, Lasix to cut water. Esciclene to site inject certain weak body parts. And Cytadren to dry out and radicalize conditioning. I think those 3 things are rarely mentioned nor given credit for the difference look we see today.

    The discipline it takes! You hear so many stories of roid rage and what not. These guys have to be strong minded for just taking gear. Not to mention clean dieting and hitting the gym. Most of them seem well rounded and down to earth.

    Love Kevin. One of the best most humble champs ever. Like he said, contrary to whatever Shawn Ray says and other people say and criticize Dorian Yates body with all his injuries, but Dorian brought a physique that is yet to be seen. And to me Kevin is right that if Dorian never got hurt he couldve beat Ronnie. Dorian's body was like a solid rock up on stage, not like the body of Brando Curry for example, that looks like a bunch of blown up balloons tied together. And that was set him apart from everyone else.

    To me, Dorian was the only appealing version of a “mass monster.” He was huge but chiseled like his physique was crafted from a stone.

    Interesting him talking about death row conditioning in 1992. Clever fella not to duplicate it. Some didn't make it through.... Mo Benazizi springs to mind

    The truth is, much like the quality of a movie and ticket sales, bodybuilding greatness and number of wins don’t correlate. Ronnie had the black genetic advantage, which means he didn’t work as hard, Ronnie was handed things because of his race, Ronnie lost but won several times (I can think of 3 off the top of my head), Ronnie was around at the perfect time for his frame, Ronnie was coached by an Aryan man and given a free gym membership. Ronnie was given everything, and he still managed to destroy his body and show himself up in his last 2 or 3 showings. Dorian worked hard for everything he got. He didn’t have the genetic advantage, he didn’t have the help of positive discrimination, he didn’t live in America, he didn’t have the publicity, he didn’t have the help of the jews, he wasn’t handed a job with the police force (very cushy job Ronnie played at so he could receive a pension and other subsidies), he wasn’t handed a gym membership, he wasn’t given free tuition, he wasn’t fed roids, he wasn’t coached. Dorian is a far greater champion than the entitled Ronnie Coleman - and that goes for every black “champion” - could ever hope to be. Dorian is the greatest of all time. Arnold is a shabbos goy traitor and pawn of the jew. Long live King Dorian, the true Conan!
    Respect to Kevin. He’s a humble gentleman. Unfortunately, I never met him. Met Shawn Ray (prick), met Dorian (lovely), met Flex (nice man), met Priest (bit too nonchalant lol).
    Here’s the truth about all sports: Blacks have a genetic advantage in the physical field, but they’re lazy and they’re helped every step of the way. Europeans have the disadvantage (except in strength sports), which means we work twice as hard to achieve. Blacks are entitled and lazy. Hardest working Blacks were people like Haney and Coleman. Laziest of all time is probably Flex. If he’d had the work ethic, he would’ve probably been unbeatable.

    I know a lot of people (even Dorian has said similar stuff) simply put Dorian being the best down to “he outworked them” but I’m not so sure it’s that simple. I’m not sure if guys like Flex Kevin Shawn would have beaten Dorian if they tried to play that size game. They would have ruined what made their physiques great in the first place.

      In the early 90's, did you ever go to the Gold's gym by the MVD in Glen Burnie Maryland ?. It was a new Gold's gym. Then Bally's bought them out ?.
      Kevin would lift in there and hang out. He would even show up with his arm in a sling after his pec surgery.
