Thanks for the look back on the year in your collecting journey, but especially on the christmas memories of your family. You helped put me in a good mood for a great christmas. See you in 2025.
Hi Rick, First off, Happy 90th Birthday to your mom! What a special milestone, and I’m sure going out to celebrate with her will be such a memorable evening. Enjoy every moment! Thank you for mentioning my video and for sharing the story of your first Christmas gift. The photo of you with your stuffed bear at the end was a nice touch. It’s incredible to think about the history you shared with that bear. While it’s a shame you no longer have it, the memories and that wonderful picture will always hold a special place. I also loved hearing about how the Acosta family celebrated Christmas. I am glad your mom recovered from being sick in 1969 and is still here to make new memories with you. This season really is about cherishing memories, isn’t it? That’s one of the reasons collecting cards resonates so deeply with me-it ties into those feelings of nostalgia and connection that make the hobby so meaningful. You’ve had an incredible year in collecting! I really enjoyed the recap of your pickups. It also reminded me how much I want to add the 48-49 Leaf Joe Gordon to my collection-I don’t have any of his cards yet, and there aren’t many to choose from. I also loved how you finished the card portion of your video by showcasing the Alou, Cox, and Reynolds cards. They’re a perfect reflection of the projects you will be working and possibly finishing in 2025. You’ve accomplished so much this year, from adding that vintage Carruthers card from the Goodwin Champions set, to reclaiming all the cards from your childhood collection, and finishing off your 41 Playball, 63 Topps, and 68 Topps sets. What an amazing year! Merry Christmas to you, my friend. Here’s to an exciting 2025! Take care, Terry
Thanks Terry! Mom's birthday party was very nice and Mom was very happy. 90 Years, just amazing to think about it. When I saw your video, I knew I had to discuss the bear story as I do think about it often around this time of year. Christmas is definitely a time of reminiscing. Like you, I think I enjoy my 70's cards cause it just reminds me of so many events from that era. Now with my older vintage cards, I think about the child that bought or owned this card and somehow ended up in my collection. I can't explain why, but for some reason I am a a big Joe Gordon fan and when I saw that card, I knew I wanted it my collection. I am very lucky to have my collection and I love sharing it with all of you. 2025 should be another fun collecting year. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Terry!
What a year Rick. Congrats! Completing three vintage sets in one year is a big deal. And happy birthday to your mom and have a great Christmas and new year
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MOM! What a milestone! You had a wonderful year. You picked up and finished some very cool things! Can't wait to see what you have all in store for 2025! Merry Christmas!
Happy New Year, Rick. Really enjoyed seeing your cards and hearing your family Christmas stories. A belated Happy 90th Birthday to your mom. Looking forward to seeing your collection grow in 2025. All the best to you this year.
Happy 90th Birthday to your mom! That’s great! Sounds like you had a great year in the hobby! Loved the cards you showed especially the Goudey Ernie Lombardi and the 49 Bowman Enos Slaughter! Love both of those sets! Merry Christmas!
Thank you, Jim! 2024 was a good year. I hope 2025 will be too for all of us! I love that Ernie Lombardi card too. Those Goudey cards are best. A belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!
Great pick ups this year. Those 41 Playballs are really nice. Congrats on completing the set and 63 and 68s. The 36 Diamond Stars are one of my favorite sets.
90 years young! Wow, kudos to your mom! Omigosh, those old home movies from our youths -- they bring such fond memories! The thing that infuriated our dads the most: When they tried to take still photos, some kids would always be squirming around. Then when they shot movies of us, we'd be standing stock still. And there was always some kid who mistook the whole indoor movie setup for an alien monster and started to cry or hide. Thanks for the laughs you brought me, Rick!
I remember once a month sitting in the living room and the home movies would come out. My Dad had his screen and take his projector out. Definitely a different era! We have the same memories, Michael! Mom's 90th birthday was a smashing success! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
That Lombardi card is very nice. Vander Meer was a tough card. The man throws two consecutive no hitters and makes his card pricey! Thanks so much for watching!
Hey Rick…Happy Holidays to you and your family. I’ve really enjoyed watching your channel this year and communicating with you. You truly have an amazing collection! 😎 Like you I was born in Encino 1965 bleeding Dodgers Blue from the start. The day my Mom brought me home from the hospital Sandy Koufax pitched a perfect game in a make up game against the Cubs in front of only 12,000 fans at Dodger Stadium as Watts burned in the distance. Here’s to a less volatile and peaceful 2025 and a repeat Dodgers WS Championship. 💪🏽🙏
Todd, amazing Sandy Koufax story to share there. Like you, I was born in 65, it's funny that I never count the 1965 World Series Championship as one that happened while I was alive, but I acknowledge the 1981 championship s my first. I hope 2025 is a good year for all of us. Thank you for your friendship and our love of cards. Happy New Year!
Hey Rick! Happy 90th to your mom! You really had great year picking up some great cards and completing 3 sets. Not to mention the Dodgers WS win. Have a Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the well wishes to my Mom, Gannon. She had a great time at her birthday dinner. Why am I the only person that feels like finishing 3 sets isn't much? LOL! Dodgers winning the series was definitely my best Christmas gift! thanks so much for watching and commenting, I hope you had a nice Christmas and Happy New Year!
That was a great year Rick. A lot of great adds and now I gotta look for frank crosetti lol😅 it's a really nice card. Merry Christmas to you my friend enjoy the holidays and your mom's birthday.
awww thanks Jesse. Hopefully the next year brings you a Frank Crosetti card! I look forward to seeing you in Ontario. Have a Merry Christmas, my friend!
Rick- really love your channel. I really like the Crosetti pickup from May. I am a huge fan of the 34-36 Diamond Stars set. Merry Christmas and happy holidays.
Merry Christmas Rick, thank you for great shows. Had to look up Bob Caruthers on Wikipedia. Wow, impressive career! There are a number of pitchers in the HOF with less impressive stats.
I agree on the Caruthers HOF statement. When I started researching him and knowing he played for Brooklyn, I knew I had to buy the card. Merry Christmas and thank you for always watching!
Addendum: The 1949 Bowman set is a landmark because it introduced America to the nickel wax pack. (I don't think anyone counts the scarce 1948 test issue that was unearthed in the 2010s. In '49, Bowman came right out the gate with both nickel and penny packs.)
It was several reasons. One being back then, they didn't always include all the players. Every set has missing players. There are no Cubs cards in any Play Ball set (except 1940 retired players) cause Wrigley owned the Cubs and wouldn't let his players on display by a competing gum company. I also heard there was supposed to be a second series starting in late 41/early 42 but the war started and any idea of cards at that point was mute. I have about 20 names of great players that weren't included. You can do the same for sure in Diamond Stars, Bowman, Topps. It's just sad they couldn't get all these players in one set. Thanks for watching!

Mitch! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you! See you soon!

Rick: Great hearing about your Christmas reminiscing. Merry Christmas.

Amazing recap. Some great cards there. The Allie Reynolds looks nice. Probably my favorite of your acquisitions. Have a great holiday.
Thanks so much! Almost done with that 50 Bowman set, but it'll take several months still. Happy Holidays to you!
@ thank you. I’m working on the ‘50 Bowman football set.
@@The_Cincinnati_Kid I'm about half way done with the Rams team set from that year. It's a beautiful set like the baseball set.
@ yeah it is. I just got the Waterfield card for Christmas.
You had a great year Rick!
Thanks Jake! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!

49's are nice cards!
What was the reasoning Ernie Lombardi wasn’t in ‘41 play ball? Or any of the play ball sets. I’ve often wondered that as a Reds fan
It was several reasons. One being back then, they didn't always include all the players. Every set has missing players. There are no Cubs cards in any Play Ball set (except 1940 retired players) cause Wrigley owned the Cubs and wouldn't let his players on display by a competing gum company. RIP RICKY HENDERSON
RIP Indeed. A great player. The plan is to discuss him in my next video. Thanks for watching!
