As a huge jazz listener, I'm gonna have to pick this up! Thank for the review!
Jazz ftw man!
Excellent review man. I can't believe you aren't more popular. Very professional. I also think I need one of these things.
+TheMilbauers Thanks I appreciate that :) Yeah it's pretty unique
P.S. You put me on to The US Army Blues because of this video 😁 Stardust is my fave right now.
This is the kind of Tech I like to see!
Yessirrr!
Love this review. Thanks for doing it! I'm a gadget addict, and I've been going back and forth on whether to buy this one. I've got a number of speakers that I use for various purposes, but I don't have anything specifically for jazz/big band vocal tunes. Think this is worth the buy for how good it sounds?
Great review Zachary!! Now, I want one!
Thank you for a useful and professional style review ! I'm getting mine for my birthday soon :-) Collecting 20's, 30's and 40's music & jazz tunes now to have a huge playlist for this guy ! Cheers
It is more of like a show -piece. Dope!
This is how it starts, I watch a review, I tell myself I don't need it, then I start thinking I can't live without it -.-
Dang this is an old video of mine 😅 But yeah this was a cool piece of hardware!
Great video man! It does look clean doe
Thanks man!
Nice review, dude!
Thanks, great review!
Excellent review ,thanks..I now know that I want one for sure !
We need to get the facts correct. Gramophone was made for playback of records not recording of records. The Magnavox Horn was not in any way connected to Gramophones. This Magnavox horn was used mainly for radios in the 1920s. It was never used for any type of record player. Last to have stereo you have to have sound coming from 2 separate sources.
I just got one today as a birthday gift!
great review! thank you! can't wait to get mine...
I watched the video first and then commented so in my heart... I'm first and that's all that counts.
Man this thing is beautiful. I'd seen some of these before on sites like Etsy but this one is a bad boy, you can just tell.
Price is a bit up there but too bad either at the end of the day. This isn't just a speaker, it's beautiful furniture/room décor.
Hahaha.
Yeah she's quite the looker.
I like the review but it makes me curious since you said "it's not really meant for stuff like dubstep" because I listen to a lot of Electro Swing and it can usually have a lot of that EDM bass in there but still has some jazz elements too.
I wonder how that would work with this speaker?
If horn speakers really sound so good, then all that hi fi gear that was made from the 60s to the present day would still have horn speakers. I can't tell from a youtube video what this thing really sounds like, only that it looks cool. But I'm guessing that what you pay for is something that is somewhat functional but looks very cool.
Helium Road actually, some of the greatest hifi systems, were talking systems that cost tens of thousands, and are in record exec offices, do use horns and small drivers. theres a few big timers showing their setups on youtube, which often incorporate small drivers with big horns. :)
stereo combined????
Yo! That's my kind of music 🎶 I think I'd like to check out the Gramovox (we'll see how expensive it is... I'm sure it is...)
The gramaphone wasn't the first device for recording and playing sound it was the phonograph
The frost gramavox 1.0 sound sucks to be honest. Inside is a very cheap midd ange Driver. But the 2.0 gramavox sounds awesome because now have 2 Driver one mid Range just like the 1.0 version but there is another Driver for the bass which makes the sound even better stronger and richer.
The gramophone was not the first recording playback device.
Yes it was
Is Gramovox dead ?
does it sound like a laptop speaker?
EastAngliaUK no, sounds like a real gramophone. I own one and loving it
First!!!...........
4th ! great review as always
Haha. Thanks
Is this good for rock.
Jonny Jonny definitely no. jazz and oldies only
HI EZTECH PLZ SAY HI BACK
"but its not for everybody"
Annabelle the cat true. I own one and its only suitable to play jazz and oldies, but I never regret buying it
Hey guys if you'd like me to respond to your comments you have to make sure your comments can even be responded to lol
$350 for a speaker that sounds like ass? TOP KEK
+inertlife I kinda understand this thing as a novelty item and for decoration, other than that, it's pretty dumb.
Stating it's for people that "really love music" is utter crap. If people love music, they want a decent reproduction of that. This thing is a novelty item and a piece of decoration, intended /not/ to give good sound reproduction, but instead add the same sort of distortion the old gramophone horns would introduce. One might argue, the same sort of functionality can be achieved with cheap computer speakers for 10 Euros and adequate equalizer settings.
Instead it being for people that "love music" it's more for people that love expensive tat, they can play around with.
DuRöhre if you ever actually ever listed to an old gramophone ( using the horn ) It sounds amazing
DuRöhre no but seriously the sound of a gramophone is fucking amazing
This would be a more authentic reproduction of live big bands in an era with no microphones/speakers, because the music was coming from one direction primarily through brass horns. So it depends on the music. I think that the poster meant to convey that idea when he said "people who love music." Modern music that is produced to be played through a certain setup obviously would not be authentically replicated through this speaker. However, you might still get a unique experience from this. I would have both this and a modern setup if possible.
DuRöhre it offers a unique listening experience. the fact that you think "cheap 10$ pc speakers" can replicate the sound from a ten inch steel horn, shows you know absolutely fuck all about sound design, listening experience, or anything relevant.
