I enjoyed my time playing blackjack in casinos. But I played in the 70s and 80s. But the casinos have made it very difficult to win. Maybe some casinos tolerate card counters more than others. But it takes time traveling to those casinos let alone finding them. Nevada casinos are alerted by bet variations. A card counter must have a sizable bet variation against a shoe game to succeed. That makes disguises much more difficult than in single deck play, where the player can give up much more and still win. I played primarily against a single or double deck game. But the 4 deck shoe at MGM in Vegas had some dealers cutting off only 1/2 a deck. That made that game excellent. It actually doesn’t matter how many decks are used. What counts is how many decks get cut off. Towards the end of my playing, the casinos made me feel as if I was stealing money every time I won. That took the fun out of playing for me. It’s the casinos that are stealing money from the public by offering only 6-5 on blackjack on single deck games. I’ve even heard about 7-6 payoffs on blackjack. Nobody should ever play those games. Nobody should ever play continuously shuffled games either. If nobody played those games, they would be forced to go back to 3-2 payoffs on all games.
There is 3-2 payoffs on all games, in Ontario Canada there are continuously shuffled machine games, also towers that shuffle them and place them in shoes, mainly 6 or 8 deck shoes. Also, in Canada counting cards the can't banned you.
thanks colin, i never tried that, but sick and tired working 300 hours for minimum pay and asshole bosses, i'll give my best shot to learn and i'll watch your every video on yt and like....you are awesome
I’m very happy to be wrong. Happy to see that there are people who can still relieve those greedy casinos of some of the money that they don’t deserve. The casinos are taking advantage of the weakness of the public. I do my best to relieve the casinos of their money by educating as many people as possible that if they play mathematically unfair game long enough that they have no chance at all to even break even. I did this right at a Craps table in Reno and convinced that player to pick up his chips and cash them out at the cashier. That cost that crap table$100 of would be income that day and I was happy.
Excellent explanations, and presented very well! But as I noticed the use of the terms "running count" and "true count", the distinction between them wasn't clear, is that in another video? Also, the term "EV" was not defined, although by it's context, I could see that referred to $, (like $ success or not at the end of a round?).
the money you gain or lose is "AV" or actual value. the money you are statistically projected to make over the long term is "EV" or expected value. runing count is the sum of the +1, 0 ,-1 values based on the cards you have seen. the true count is the same but adjusted for the number of decks being played with.
Casino near me has single deck game with 3:2. But the dealer deals the players cards faced down in table. It makes card counting so difficult and confusing. Any Tips how to get count cards easier in such situations? Any practice tips?
Yeah, you need a system for counting a face down game. We cover that in our Video Course. But if you don't want to pay for training tips, then just practice it at home until you are absolutely 100% perfect. However many hours that takes.
Yes, face down games are a little different. It takes practice, and another person to help you if you do it at home, but here's what works for me. After all cards have been pitched (Dealt), count your two cards first. Then count the dealers up card. Don't count any other cards, even if you see them accidentally, like the players next to yours. Then from first base to third, count the dealt cards as each player hits (These cards will be dealt face up). If they bust, they have to flip their two cards back to the table. Count those when they flip them up. If the stay, they will tuck. Come back to those at the end. Do this in order until all players have made their plays. Then let the dealer play out his hand, count those cards. Once the dealer is done dealing his hand, go back to first base (or the first spot that didn't bust), and count the tucked cards as their turned. Yeah, it's a lot of work at first, but practice will make you comfortable with it.
A 3:2 single deck game is actually a great player game. Its my personal favorite to play. In single deck on a face down game all the cards get exposed after a player busts or if the player doesnt bust the dealer flips up the cards when paying off the bet or taking the money on a losing bet. If you have two rounds a deck the second round will have a postive or negative count or it might be neutral. If no aces pop the first round aces are due to pop the second round so bet bigger.
Hey Collin! I am very new to card counting, started teaching myself about a year ago. I've read a few books and have all the knowledge, my only problem is implementing all of the skills. I am not confident in my abilities, for example, that I am accurately estimating how many decks are remaining in a given shoe. I plan on getting a BJA membership but am not sure which plan would best suit me. Could you maybe steer me in the right direction? Thanks!

Blackjack Apprenticeship Thanks! Just started learning and want to make sure I'm doing things right. When I do sign up with your program how long does your average student start showing profit?
What would you suggest to someone who is interested in learning Black Jack, but does not have access to a live casino? I remember you saying playing online is a waste of time, and I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should invest my time in this. Thank you in advance.
Yeah, if you can't play a casino with a beatable game, then you're just going to be gambling. I don't find gambling to be a good use of my time, and definitely not a good use of money. =)
You can get a 15% advantage on some hands against a single deck that is dealt all the way down. You can afford to disguise your play and still make lots of money playing those games. I had a soft 17 against a ten and had seen all 50 cards after hitting it to make hard 17. The only 2 cards left were face cards, so the seater had a certain 20. So I hit my now hard 17 and the dealer had to shuffle and dealt me a 4 for 21. This is impossible today. Maybe you can get a quarter of a percent over them at best. So one mistake an hour gets you nothing. 2 mistakes an hour and you are losing. You might still be able to count successfully if it becomes illegal for the casinos to use computers to track their games.

Our Membership comes with a suite of training drills. Or some people swear by CVBlackjack by Qfit. We also have an iOS app if you're an iPhone/iPad person.
Depends on deck penetration and rules. Also, are you planning on wonging in or playing through all counts? I wrote a blogpost a while back that gives some info and guidelines: www.blackjackapprenticeship.com/recommended-blackjack-bankroll/
Blackjack Apprenticeship I was thinking of wonging in. The table rules are: Dealer hits on 16 and soft 17. 6/8 decks are being played (I guess a 2 deck penetration?) Double on 2 cards only, double allowed after splitting & no surrender allowed. Oh yeah, a machine also shuffles the shoe (There is also a min. $50 table that is hand shuffled). Any other rules I missed?
Hey brother I have a weird question. I am very intelligent. I know how to count and count the shoe fairly well I'm a multitasker in life. I find I can more often than not just not count and somehow my mind almost always gets me plus or minus 1 your opinion appreciated
Here is my problem with card counting. I've watched hundreds of hours of play while trying to drag my wife off the table and out of the casino. In a typical 6 deck shoe, at any given time the count rarely ever goes over 6+ or lower than 6-. So the true count constantly hovers around -1 to +1. I have never ever ever seen a true count of more than 2. Even if I screw up the running count by one or two every once in a while, the odds are that my miscalculations will zero out in the end. For example, if I get caught up in buying a drink and I forget the count is 0 rather than 1+, that is an insignificant difference in the long run. On a 6 deck shoe that's a 1/6 deviation from the correct running count and a 1/36 difference in true count. really insignificant. What nobody can explain to me is how I can sit down at a table and lose the first 8 out of ten hands, get nothing for a split and fail at a double down. Tactics increase your odds by a fraction of 1 percent usually. My luck can kill that measly 1 or 2 percent edge in a heartbeat. You can take all the tricks and flush them down the toilet when you go to three separate tables and the first hand the dealer gets each time you sit down is a blackjack. Yesterday I lost 22 of my first 28 hands. What good will increasing my odds from 51%-49% to 51.9%-48.1%. These things work when things are going well. The dealer behaves and busts when they should, you get a nice 6 card run once in a while and don't bust. It just does not happen. I bust 8 out of 10 times when I hit on a 12. Now there are 96 cards that can bust me and 216 that won't. I should bust one third of the time. No way, not in my lifetime. I do all the things you are supposed to do and it costs me more money. Split 8's. Good luck when every time you do that you bust one hand and the dealer beats your other crap 18 hand. That's how it rolls for me. I get 20 on a rare occasion - dealer gets 20. I get nothing but 2/3/4/5/6 face up cards and the dealer gets nothing but 10's and aces. Oh, and how many times does the dealer have a 10 down. An inordinate improbable number of times. Here is another thing. So you are getting reamed out at a table, so the advice is to go to another table. Problem here is that you have to start over counting. And you have as good a chance that the new table will be worse than the last. Most people who stick out a bad table and go back to the instant teller, end up losing both piles of money. So how long do you stay at a bad shoe. Nobody knows.
Hey Michael. The math is the math. You can run the simulations to see the EV, use a software like CVCX or the Bankroll Management App that we have at Blackjack Apprenticeship and it proves the money that can be made at card counting. Not to mention the experiences of myself and hundreds of other card counters currently and over the years.
Last night when I played, I had running counts of +14 and up to +25 with a true count of +4-+6 on occasion. I came away with $600 profit for the night!

I somewhat disagree with #1 if you have plenty of money to play around with. Just because you have basic strategy and counting down really well, it's entirely different when you get to the actual casino with all the distractions, pressure, etc. I would say you can only learn to overcome that by doing it.
Successful counting in casinos is not possible anymore. If you do it, they will catch you quickly and prevent you from playing. You must vary your bets with the count otherwise you will still lose money. You can sometimes camouflage it by sometimes increasing when the House has an advantage, but your percentage over them is not much anymore even with perfect play. Their computers will track your play and tell them what your expected win or lose rate is. It’s illegal to use computers to help you make your decisions in any gambling game. Someone should fight to make it illegal for the house to use them as well. Fair is fair.
But soon the casinos will employ a computer to count the cards coming out of the shoe and alert the dealer to shuffle every time the player had an advantage. They already can track the order of the cards ad they are played. That’s why it’s important to fight for legislation to prevent the casinos from using computers to help their cause in the actual games only.
Emmanuel, I'm not sure where you get your information from, or what makes you believe that. But that couldn't be any farther from the truth. In actuality, that system already exists, and it's called Mind Play. However, that system is extremely expensive to not only purchase, but to install and maintain. The system employs a number of specialty cameras that can read specially designed chips that have RFID tags, at the same time, read specially made cards. Now put it into perspective, these specialty chips can only be used with these games. Which means casinos will have to keep a separate inventory of chips just for blackjack, and have due diligence measures in place to makes sure they don't get mixed in with other games. Taking it even further, these specialty cards are about 30% more expensive than the standard cards designed for casinos, and can only be purchased through MindPlay. Casinos change their cards out daily, and they get a huge volume discount from their vendors due to the amount of cards they purchase every year. Casinos are in the business of keeping profits high, while keeping overhead costs low. It makes more sense to pay employees to be the eyes in the casinos than to justify spending so much money on a system that only thwarts about 2% of the threats they face. It does nothing for employee theft, and nothing for cheats, and they still have to keep eyes out for those things. The fact that this technology has been out for about 15 years now, and hardly any casinos have even installed just one table should tell you about the fact that it's not something counters need to be concerned with. This information has come from several casino security staff that I personally have spoken with. It's nothing new, and is only a little bit newer than the whole facial recognition software that was a flop as well.
The problem the casinos will again have is people not going in to play blackjack, it`s happened years ago before. If casinos only win people will not go play cards. If there`s a ( + ) there follows always a ( - ) People invent it, there`s always a flaw following.
+Seeking Information, I'm not exactly sure what your talking about, but your comment doesn't make any sense, nor have any basis. Casinos always have and always will have the advantage over the player. And they don't have to always win, and why would they want to, it would alienate all players and lose them money. But in every game, they already have a built in advantage whereas they always take more money from the players than the players take from them. That's why it such big business. I think what you're referring to is decades, not years ago, when blackjack rules were drastically changed after card counting was born, and almost all players stopped playing because the house edge was higher than any other game. Casinos started losing big money, and eventually reverted back to standard rules. In today's casino world, it's just not as big a threat as it was in the 80's and 90's. Because 1), dedication to a skill like advantage play is not something most people are willing to do, everyone wants the quick and easy buck. And 2) there are so many casinos in the US, that the population of counters that can actually do it effectively are spread pretty thin across the US as well. So no, I don't think casinos will always win the money at blackjack. People like me and a host of others are still able to exploit the game, and I highly doubt it will change anytime in the near, or even distant future.
Lol. No prob. I just hope that more people will become educated about gambling, especially before they go into casinos. I played blackjack once with a guy who claimed he was a math major and worked in education, and tried to tell me that all math gets thrown out the window when you play games like blackjack. He scoffed at me for hitting a 15 versus an ace, then again when I doubled down my soft 18 versus a 2. I'm like "I don't know where you teach math at, but I will make sure not to send my kids there". He got all burnt, but it's completely ignorant to think like that, especially someone who claims to be educated in math. Then he would stand on almost all his stiffs versus a ten (12's through 16's). I picked up my chips and left simply because it was annoying to play with someone like that. Why don't you just walk up and hand the casino all your cash, it would at least save you some time you know.
Okay ur not really explaining when to stop.....i get that 2 to 6 is plus 1 7 to 9 is 0 10 to As is -1. Okay how about in the game u said to keep counting okay i get that but what about my card how do i know when to bet more how do i know im not gonna bust. ur not explaining that
The whole point of card counting is to bet when the shoe has a high count indicating a higher number of 10-A. And to know how much to bet you need to learn basic strategy. There are charts that can help you and they have practice on their website.
Not really. He actually gives enough information out for free to beat the game if you can listen very carefully and understand. The main benefit from becoming a member is the network of players, not the strategy, which is largely out there and available for free.
the mission is possible - as Tom Cruise proves it in every movie. But as Colin so concisely says: "it's a marathon, not a sprint". Like so many things, it's an investment of your time to do it right, and in time, that investment pays back. you just need to do the math: 200 hours to get started, then you'd best be thinking of it as a side-job, investing some more time. But you might also be in a situation where you can work overtime and collect $ on those 200 hours - all depends on your circumstances and how you want to spend that investment of hours. Meanwhile, I think Colin is doing a masterful job of illustrating this venue, not that I'm using it, I'm just a curious math geek, amused by the statistics.

hey Collin in my town is 6deck game ds17,splitting A is allowed but u get only 1 card, and u cannot respite them. das. and about 70 per.penetration.Is that game beatable? ?? bets 5 to 100 ths
Yeah, sounds like a pretty standard game. Get perfect first, though!
You guys are f@&°#ing awesome! Lots of valuable information are provided here I must say. How about some mathematics of the game? Kelly factor, CE, CE/WR as such...:) Cheers guys! All the best! Keep up the great job!!!
Thanks man. That's some pretty advanced stuff, but I'll put it on the list of ideas!
Quick question, does this work on online casinos?
I'm very interested in your program but need to save a bit for it! Living pay checks to pay checks!😁
Just have two question for now! Can you use your tips on online blackjack?🤔
And what online betting site do you approve of playing?
Salvador - No, you can't beat online blackjack. I have a video about it: ua-cam.com/video/sPvxe40Nr20/v-deo.html
And there's no rush to get our Membership. Get ahead financially and we'll be here for you when you have money to put towards mastering card counting..
Blackjack Apprenticeship
Thanks! Just started learning and want to make sure I'm doing things right. When I do sign up with your program how long does your average student start showing profit?
Thank you
Is it ok to count cards at the casino??
I’m smart enough to learn this
Winner of a video, I've been looking for "learn how to count cards" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Tonvelyn Xiylijah Trick - (do a google search )? It is a smashing exclusive product for learning how to make fast money using this lotto system without the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my mate at very last got excellent success with it.
Hey Colin. In online casino you can use Card counting? I see They dont have a Machine.
No. I have a video coming out in a couple weeks on this. But the game games aren't worth your time.
Can you use card counting with online casinos?
FIshfood500 most are impossible to do as it switches the odds
nope
How do you guys feel with counting words in your head? "Plus one" is a fast enough thought but I find myself unable to think the words "negative one" fast enough to consistently keep up with the cards coming
I guess I should say minus lol
D1 for down 1.
Disclaimer: I know nothing about card counting I just heard him mention it in another video.
@@garronjohnson483 LOL yup I’m no expert but I do believe that is the term
Wait... So you aren't supposed to count the dealer's up card?
He said "don't double count the dealer's up card". You absolutely count the up card. Count every single card you see

Cant anyone use basic srategy card at the table as well?
Yes, that's allowed
Hey, I have a question.
With a minimum bet of $20 (CAD) at a 3-2, 8 deck shoe, what should my bankroll be?
Around 30K
Any other rules I missed?
are you in Vegas? want to play sometime?
4:47......Critical.....
Anyone else paused the video and felt overwhelmed when he said 200 hours...😢
A weekly payment plan would be great
Hey brother I have a weird question.
This is glorious, been searching for "how do you count cards with multiple decks" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Tonvelyn Xiylijah Trick - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my mate got excellent results with it.
d s also theres an android app called casino verite games and casino verte drills it has helped me a ton and is pretty cheap
Don't they kick you out for card counting?

3. Qfit makes a windows-based software called "CVBlackjack." It's a little confusing, but has a lot of features: www.blackjackapprenticeship.com/products/software/cvblackjack-v5/
I somewhat disagree with #1 if you have plenty of money to play around with. Just because you have basic strategy and counting down really well, it's entirely different when you get to the actual casino with all the distractions, pressure, etc. I would say you can only learn to overcome that by doing it.
Still friends with Ben?
Successful counting in casinos is not possible anymore. If you do it, they will catch you quickly and prevent you from playing. You must vary your bets with the count otherwise you will still lose money. You can sometimes camouflage it by sometimes increasing when the House has an advantage, but your percentage over them is not much anymore even with perfect play. Their computers will track your play and tell them what your expected win or lose rate is. It’s illegal to use computers to help you make your decisions in any gambling game. Someone should fight to make it illegal for the house to use them as well. Fair is fair.
I'll let Colin handle this. I'm too tired right now.
Sorry, but you are mistaken. We have plenty of pros at BJA who are currently making a living off of card counting.
How to beat blackjack buy playing blackjack as a business read it, get a basic stragedy trainer on your smart phone.
Great book.
In casinos is impossible...they have machine to shuffle the cards
Er Gullive not all of them
Where are you located? There are lots of beatable games in the US. That's what we've been doing for years... beating blackjack with card counting.
What about it? The cheating would not be in the shuffle machine anyways. I've heard that for years. Does any one have the information to back it up?
I think he means CSMs.
I thought so. But I"ve also heard that about the Shuffle Masters for any number of decks.
You're correct, I meant what you thought. Thanks for your reply. Thanks again.
Lol.
Okay how about in the game u said to keep counting okay i get that but what about my card how do i know when to bet more how do i know im not gonna bust. ur not explaining that
2-6 is plus 5
10-A is minus 5
The count will always end at 0
The whole point of card counting is to bet when the shoe has a high count indicating a higher number of 10-A. And to know how much to bet you need to learn basic strategy. There are charts that can help you and they have practice on their website.
You are just always beat around the bush
You need to buy a BJA membership for the rest of the course. That’s how he earns his living.
Not really. He actually gives enough information out for free to beat the game if you can listen very carefully and understand. The main benefit from becoming a member is the network of players, not the strategy, which is largely out there and available for free.
Multitasking is inpossible
*impossible. And no it isn't. It just takes practice.
the mission is possible - as Tom Cruise proves it in every movie.
Shallow man Believe in LUCK...
