It’s a frightening song, brings back memories of Ian Curtis dancing like he was having an epileptic fit. I was in a band during the 80s and we started by learning joy division songs, it was a fkin intense time.
Mate. I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate what you do. So easily explained. Learnt two joy division songs today through this channel. Thank you so much. Best guitar lesson channel on UA-cam. Fact.
I've been a keyboard player for 20 years or so, really only taking it seriously for 10 or so, and I'm just picking up guitar now that I'm getting much older. I love seeing this stuff because it is my favorite kind of music and I know I could play something like it convincingly. Guitar UA-cam is usually so intimidating, but this just gives me a warm feeling of comfort that I'm going to be able to make cool songs even if I'm not that great.
Another great lesson, Adrian, and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. I was just starting to get serious about learning barre chords, and this was made to order. And with a looper pedal, can do the bass line too. Thank you!
Yup this song is in D minor. The weird things is that it is pitched in 453 hz. When I learned this song and Disorder on bass, like 6 years ago, I always noted something slighty out of tune while playing it. Now that I'm learning guitar I noticed that the guitars are tuned 25 cents higher.
Changing the pitch of your guitar may sound discouraging when you're learning how to play, but it is very easy, you cand do it even with a tuner app. Definetely, it is very annoying, simple yet annoying.
Adrian.I've seen you playing the jazzmaster most recently and was wondering how it compares to the other fenders I've also seens you play. I know the sound is different but what about the sustain and other differences.care to comment? I have a 63 jaguar that I bought from my dad back in the early 80s and I just love it. the trem is much better than on the strat in my opinion.
just looked at a few of your tutorial and the sound is simply amazaing.. i can see a Fender Amp and of course the guitar ( each has it's own flavor). i am curious about your overdrive/distortion..... and other effects.. are they regular pedals? floor processor(Line 6 or other)?.... keep up the work.
Can I make a request. Doing me in trying to fo,low various versions of William it was really nothing and I thought you'd be best to really break it down into its parts. Please Adrian, think you're very good at these tutorials!
By first time, do you mean play she’s lost control for the first time, and you recorded yourself playing for the first time or do you mean this is the first recording you did?

More post punk please!
stooges, link wray and now Joy Division... dude you make my day!
Thank you for making these Joy Division vids, I actually learned Disorder in a one day thanks to you mate, cheers.
Great stuff, as always. Didn't think that there would be much to cover, but adding the bass part definitely works.
Maybe Damaged goods by Gang of Four as a guitar lesson suggestion?
Like that suggestion...
This song's amazing, I'll learn how to play it someday
Your lesson is so detailed, even a beginner like me can follow........thanks.....amazing tabs sheet as well......
Ah! Got it now thanks! Absolutely a classic!

This is great Adrian! Joy Division is one of my favourites! thanks!
Thanks Fabio. Good one for you to try I think.
Indeed - the list is getting long though =:)
Great channel, great taste in music. Would love to see some Killing Joke lessons. Geordie Walker's style of play is rather unique.
appreciated! Any New Order? Bernard changed his style as he had to play and sing. Some of the guitar riffs are great.
Great song, great step by step instruction!!
Great tutorial!
Please do Novelty, It'd be so fun learning that awesome intro!!
Finally! Thank you! Been waiting for this for quite a while now...
Sounds great!
When are you gonna tackle some classic Sonic Youth?
I'd love to, those alternate tunings are a pain in the ass though...
anyonecanplayguitar.co.uk hahaha its 'arse'! Thurston Moore live in London these days, you might see him at the market!
or Smashing Pumpkins? pretty please XD
Thanks! Excellent lesson. Fave song. More rockers and punk please Adrian.
Originally learnt this watching 'So It Goes' on Granada TV. A long time ago
Actually it was 'Something Else' . Just seen it on your website. Memory's not what it used to be
Yes, what a fantastic performance that is.
Amazing tutorial, I'm recording a cover of this and thought the guitar part was built from power chords, not barres - thanks for steering me right! =D

What an incredible channel. Congrats (and thanks!)
Thank you, love your channel!
Please more Joy Divison!
Love the channel!! Love the links with the tabs!
Hi Adrian! You're always doing as terrific job in nailing those guitar sounds!! It's sound so close every time! How do you do that? :D
The best lesson ever for this song!!! Can you do some video-lesson for New Dawn Fades, please???
man you have some killer tone. really sounds like bernard
OMG this one too? You are the best! I'm eager to learn this fast groove that sounds behind my head xD!!!!
Great video, thanks for that lesson, you kept it very simple.

beautiful guitar!
I never realized it turns around rhythmically like that
Been learning for less than a fortnight, within 40 mins I had this down! (Albeit slowly and badly). Great stuff; thank you.
Bassline 2:35
Excelente lección y buenas guitarras 🎸 gracias 😊 por todo 🎸🎸🎶🎶🤘🤘
Thanks Christian!

tip top! More 80's alternative classics please.
late 1970s!
first song I ever learnt on guitar I think
Ceremony by new order please adrian
Adrian, any thoughts on doing 'Phantom Of The Opera' by Iron Maiden?
Yes!
Always had a bit of a soft spot for Iron Maiden, so I like that idea. Not sure I'll find the time to actually do it though. We'll see...
Hi, I like the video overdrive or distortion and what setting are you using?
Thank you. 🎸
Could you do colony?? 😃👍
Can I make a request. Doing me in trying to fo,low various versions of William it was really nothing and I thought you'd be best to really break it down into its parts. Please Adrian, think you're very good at these tutorials!
The last part of the bass line is missing from the lesson.
Hey Adrian I was wondering where you get your backing tracks from?
Could you teach us to play "Novelty" by Joy Division? Please, and thanks for this lesson
THAT'S a good one! Indeed
may I ask what drum machine you use?
whats the amp settings i have the same amp
how do you get that tone
Is That a flanger or a chorus?
First guy i've seen that nails the sound of the bar chord part, everyone does just a simple power chord and it just kept sounding wrong to me
By first time, do you mean play she’s lost control for the first time, and you recorded yourself playing for the first time or do you mean this is the first recording you did?
Cuando quitas los adornos de Navidad!!!!????!!!!?
It's Christmas all year round in my videos Felipe!
anyonecanplayguitar.co.uk JAJAJS yes ok
What are the settings u used if i may ask?
Great Lesson m8! How about Dead Souls one day?
I have got classical guitar. I'm crying;)
Pela amor de deus alguém me fala os acordes porque eu sou BR e a nossa legenda automática tá saindo "bar acord" bar e onde a gente bebe
Can you do disorder
Please do disorder
Please make music, I want to hear it!
More joy division
You got long fingers
I LOVE U
TIme to bust out the loop pedal
Great lesson. Yet I will never get that counting thing you all people do. For me it's like playing instrument and doing accounting at the same time.
You eliminated the drone . It sounds empty and hollow.
Cute
Why?
Go slower
Please don't play bass riffs on guitar not the same
Obviously not the same, but perfectly valid to do it.
