Other than the parking at Hessie, (use the shuttle if you get there later than 6am), the trail is lesser traveled than others, we only saw 2 other people between the Devil's Thumb cut-off and Diamond Lake! Most people are heading to Lost Lake.
Thank you! The Indian Peaks Wilderness holds some of the best hiking and backpacking in the Front Range. Jump in that 4-Runner and you can tackle some of those miles off road 😎
Thank you, Andrea! The approach from the Hessie Trailhead is awesome, tough, but definitely awesome. Most people hike to Diamond Lake from the 4th of July trailhead, which is also a great hike, but more for day hiking and quite busy. Either way, it's a fun area to explore with connections to many more destinations.
I have permit for Diamond Lake in July. The Hessie High route looks great. I may change my route from fouth of july th to Hessie. Thanks for sharing. Best.
The Hessie High Route is beautiful, less traffic, and will certainly give you a much better backcountry feel. If you want to just spend time at Diamond Lake, equally beautiful, then the rough drive up to the 4th of July TH is a much easier trek over to the lake. Great area all around, enjoy!
Thank you, Jerry! It was a great outing. We've been to Diamond Lake, years ago, but had never taken the route from the Hessie TH. We've dubbed it the Hessie High Route. Great views 😎🐾
I'm heading up to drop in at Hessie next week for a little 'out of season' hiking. I also saw the video where you talked about the small lake between King and B&B.. I'm thinking about maing the loop from that way, around to Jasper then up to Diamond. I have the whole week off, so I'll be a slave to the weather. I appreciate you sharing a lot of what I can expect. Albeit, I should be a little colder. ;)
@johnthompson8748 This "high route" is definitely the lesser traveled option to Diamond Lake. Most people start at the 4th of July Trailhead, granted they're missing out on some incredible scenery! Heading up and over Deboxer Mountain is tough but very rewarding. From the Hessie TH, this is just over 6 miles, 12ish round-trip.

Dude you live a great life with your wife and 2 little doggies
Life is definitely great. We both enjoy living in such a beautiful place and love exploring and experiencing it together. 😎🐾
Another 🥾🥾⛰🏕 fun video enjoyed from the treadmill in Iowa 🌽🌽 heading to Colorado in August ❤️🏕
Thank you, Joan. We need to be on a treadmill ourselves!!! We're anxious to hear about your experiences in Colorado.
Wow, what a beautiful area and hike, even with the smoke. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful!!! Gonna have to add that to our list of hikes!!
Thank you, Amy. It's a great hike, quintessential Colorado scenery.

Thank you! We've never done a premier, it didn't play back in 4k right away. UA-cam!

It'll definitely be colder at night, the daytime temps will be darn near perfect. Enjoy!
How far is this route from Hessie TH to Diamond Lake? What a wonderful little clan you have there! Looks like an amazing hike. Thanks for sharing.
