- Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard Pat Connaughton gives the keynote speaker address for the UW-Madison 2020 graduate celebration on Saturday, September 18 at Camp Randall Stadium.
UW-Madison welcomed graduates of spring, summer and winter 2020 back to Madison Sept. 17-19 for a celebration of their achievements. The weekend of events allowed the 2020 graduates to gather in person to mark the completion of their degrees - something they were not able to do last year because of the pandemic.
The Saturday celebration at Camp Randall featured Connaughton, who helped the Bucks power past the Phoenix Suns four games to two in the NBA Finals. Connaughton averaged 9.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. The victory - the first title for the Bucks in 50 years - propelled Milwaukee into the national spotlight and set off an exuberant statewide celebration.
Connaughton, of Arlington, Massachusetts, was a two-sport star - basketball and baseball - at the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in business management. A second-round NBA draft pick, he played three seasons for the Portland Trail Blazers, then signed with the Bucks in 2018.
Off the court, Connaughton founded the With Us Foundation, which works to provide access to athletics for all kids through camps and clinics. He’s also helping to grow the city of Milwaukee through his real estate development company, Three Leaf Development. One recent project replaced a dilapidated duplex near Fiserv Forum with a four-story apartment building.

Congratulations Pat, great speech. Glad to see Giannis finaly gave up the trophy hehe.
Pat had to sneak in his house in the middle of the night to get it.
@@RyJsLn that's definitely how it happened!
I graduated from Madison in 1996. I don't remember our commencement speaker. I remember how frigg'n hot it was in the old field house. But I don't remember our speaker. But I would have remembered Pat.
Congratulations Pat! Probably the best speach I've ever heard!
For every great and inspirational thing Pat says here (and elsewhere), he licks his lips twice. It's how he gets his superhuman power.
All jokes aside, I breathe Planet Pat, also congrats to the grads. Can't wait for Oct. 19th!
Pat Connaughton is a good speaker.

Congrats Pat. You see kids? This is what you should aspire too. If you don't have the means to get an education I understand but if you can, try to get one . There's life after sports
The description says he already graduated at the University of Notre Dame in 2015, with a bachelor's degree in business management.

Tbh Pat is basically the Caruso of the Bucks 🤟🏻
Hes not well spoken like pat sorry bucko
Bucks in 6!
👏👏👏🙌❤️👍
Has anybody realised, that all this is because of Giannis's work ethic? There is only one single word in Greek language, that doesn't have a translation, in any other language. More unique than that, is the fact that it doesn't have a translation, because it's a Greek prevelege. The word is Plilotimo (Φιλότιμο) and you can only find it, in poor but with good upbreeding men. One ore reason, that Giannis didn't left Milwaukee, before he makes them Champions, is the fact that he respects that the Bucks gave him the chance, and he feels a great debt about that. He wanted to give back, what Bucks gave him, by bringing him to the NBA. That's the only way, I can describe Philotimo. It's all what Giannis did, because he has Philotimo, or he has philotimo,as a human! Job done Giannis, well done son, wish you the best!
PS Kudos to Pat for the great speach!!
Giannis finally let someone borrow that trophy huh 😭
Well I wouldn’t say “borrowed” without pat’s clutch shots in crucial playoff matches it could’ve went differently. And basketball is a “team” game so pat deserves it in his own right.

Dude was AWFUL in game 6... thank god Giannis went beast mode and it didn't matter! Seriously tho he seems like a good dude despite his play in the last game, and this was a pretty damn good speech tbh. Funny and thoughtful, this dude will definitely have a career in media if he wants to go that route when he retires.
His rebounding during that game was very useful
He was good the whole playoffs tho, one game doesn't mean he wasn't very helpfull to the team to get the championship..
@@Tasos_ when did I say he wasnt good the whole playoffs? Matter of fact he played brilliantly especially with how little he's being paid... but he was 0/4 the last game and got cooked constantly, dont need to create strawmen brother, I never said he wasn't helpful. I was just pulling my hair out at him going 0/4 in a close game while getting blown by every play in a close game. Was actually amazed he played *that* horribly given how crucial he was beforehand.
Did you even read my whole post, or just the 1st sentence then skimmed through the rest? I like pat, and can't even complain next season when he jumps 10 feet out of position when someone pump fakes him for a corner 3 because of how he came up in the clutch multiple times in the playoffs. (Other than a couple games of course)
@@thanoswasright5333 true. The 0/4 and that last wide open shot he missed made me overlook that, but those 8 board definitely helped. Not like he's tony snell out there or anything

The speach was actually not that good at all... I think more people have mamba mentality and think that they could be the best.
Dude, you can't even spell the word "speech", so I doubt you'd know what a good one sounds like😂
