Exact recipe:
2 cups milk
1 1/2 tablespoons (2 packets) active dry yeast
6 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons butter, melted
4 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons fine salt
1/3 cup baking soda
3 cups warm water
Coarse salt
8 tablespoons butter, melted in a shallow dish
Warm up the milk in the microwave or on the stove for just about one and a half minutes. It should be about 110º. If it's too hot it will kill the yeast. You should be able to comfortably keep your finger in it. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for about 3 minutes. Add the butter and sugar. Add the flour about 1 cup at a time and the add the fine salt. Kneed for about 10 minutes with a stand mixer, or by hand. Put it in a greased bowl and cover with greased cling wrap. Let rise for 1 hour in a moist, warm place until doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 450º. Punch down dough and divide into 12 lumps (I like to divide it in half, then divide each half into three, and then divide each remaining one in half again). Roll them all out as thin as you can. Combine the warm water and baking soda in a wide bowl. Form the dough into pretzel shapes, then dip in the baking soda water. Place on a greased baking sheet and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake for about 7-11 minutes or until browned.
what kind of flour did u use?

Auntie Anne's recipe is this. Yeast hot water flour. Thats it.
Do u have recipe in gram?
I love Auntie Anne's pretzels! I just tried them a few years ago in an airport and have loved them ever since they are so good! Yours look delicious, thanks for sharing Julia!💛
Thank you so much Alicia! My airport here in Utah has them and they are so yummy!
I make these ALL THE TIME since I found this video over the summer! Very close to Auntie Anne’s and they always hit the spot! Thank you for sharing!
That’s awesome! I am so glad that you enjoyed this recipe so much. Thanks so much for watching and have a great rest of your week!😀
Love the simplicity of this recipe and would like the recipe sent to me. Great job!
Thank you so much Ray!
Yum! I love Auntie Anne's pretzels! These looked really good!
Thank you so much girl!
OMG so good!!!
Made these 3 times now and they're fantastic. A few things I have learned: 1. Try going with 4 1/2 cups even if its a bit sticky bc you get a higher hydration dough and I REALLY liked the end result. Its a bit less dense and just melts in your mouth. Only a bit harder to work with but not much. 2. Give them a bit of time in the bath until u just start to feel the texture get a bit slick, shake em a bit and onto pan. This gives them a bit more pretzel taste since ur not boiling them. If u get the ratio right it won't taste like icky baking soda or anything. 3. Spread a thin layer of veg oil on your pan. I know its not good for you, but it gives the best taste and texture on the bottom. Olive oil didn't taste right. 4. Melt some unsalted butter on a plate, so when they come out of the oven, u just flip them onto the plate and over to another one for salt. 5. Get some Maldon salt flakes instead on using coarse sea salt. It has a different flavor profile that is a bit less harsh and bitter than the regular stuff and it look cool. 6. Try mixing half bread flour and half all purpose and compare to see what you prefer. It changes the texture a bit and is slightly "fluffier". If making beer cheese I would use it, for cinnamon sugar, I'd stick to the original.
Wow! You are amazing! Thank you so very much for sharing all of your tips after making this pretzel recipe so many times. Pretzels are just one of my favorites. Thank you so very much again and have a great rest of your week🙌🏼🙌🏼
Another great recipe Julia! As soon as I track down yeast at a store around here I'm going to give these a shot! Thanks for another awesome vid!
I was barely able to find yeast at my store I can’t believe how empty the shelves are still! Have a wonderful week (:
I might bless my husband with these for his birthday 😂 another inspiration to us yeast, this might be the ONE. Great work, friend!
You are so sweet girl 😂 your husband would love you forever 😂❤️
Tried this recipe and it is PERFECT. Tastes just like the Auntie Anne's pretzels ive been craving. Thanks for sharing.
I am so very happy to hear that! I love hot pretzels too. Thank you so much for your positive comment🙌🏼🙌🏼

I haven’t done these because I thought they would take too much time. Look way easier!! Wow! Amazing good🥨🥨🥨🥨❤️❤️❤️
Thanks!
Wow they turned out great! Looks delicious 😊
Thanks so much Stephanie (:
These look so good! I love the idea of making cinnamon and sugar ones. My sweet tooth likes that idea 😉
Thank you so much my sweet friend!
I love pretzels! I have been looking for Yeast for weeks, upon weeks and its been sold out! I will definitely try this once I can find it! By the way Congrats on 6.69K..You go!! You deserve it!!! xo
You are seriously such a good friend to me Patricia I really appreciate you always coming back to my videos. I barley found yeast at my store I can’t believe how slim pickings the stores are!
Sooooo good!!!!! Great job, Julia! Yay God!
They really are so good! Thank you so very much🙌🏼
Hi Julia!! Love Auntie Anne's pretzels 🥨. We have one at the mall near us,, but its been closed due to the current pandemic. Everything started to open up this week, but Auntie Anne's is not open yet... perfect timing for this recipe to make at home. Thanks💖
Thank you so much Sue! I could eat auntie Ann’s all day with the cheese sauce YUM! (:
My daughter and I made these today with a sweet almond topping - so delicious! Thank you 😊
Oh my goodness! That sounds so good. Thank you so very much for sharing what you did with these pretzels. Yum!😋
I need to make this
Just made a half batch of these and boy are they pretty good. Only thing I changed was oven at 425 and then just for 7 minutes. Also made them into pretzel nuggets instead of regular looking ones. Only thing I might change in the future is more baking soda in the dipping water.
I am so glad you love them!😀
Happy Pretzel Day 😋👊
Keep Up The Good Work ‼️
My family absolutely loves soft pretzels so much that I had to buy a KitchenAid mixer. I was following Alton Brown's recipe for a few batches. I will try yours next 👌
These pretzels are so delicious! You will have to let me know how you like them:)
O M G. I just made these. They are so amazing. So much better than auntie Ann’s. Ty for sharing
That’s just awesome, Debbie!! I sure am glad they turned out so well for you. I just love a good hot homemade pretzel🙌🏼
These look so good, thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks so much my sweet friend!
I worked at Auntie Anne's, and to make the pretzels all we used was warm water, yeast and flour for the dough. (Then the baking soda and water mixture for dipping the dough in) and I literally can't find that recipe anywhere😂 all I've wanted to figure out is how to make a smaller portion than what we used to make lol!!
Do you happen to remember what the amounts were for the warm water, yeast, and flour for the large batches?
@@cassandrahosler2862 sadly, no. The flour was pre-packaged in single batch bags and I've no idea what the actual size of those were
I will try your recipe
Thanks Olivia (:
Hi julia! Thank you for this easy recipe! Btw, can i freeze the dough? Do i need to shape it before freezing? And how to cook it after freezing it? Thanks!
Thank you Angelica! I’ve actually never froze them! If I were to freeze them I would shape them first though (:
Hey Julia I don’t have a mixer can this be done by hand with just as much ease is you performed in your video? Great recipe my grandsons are going to love it. Thanks for sharing
It can be done by hand of course. It will be a lot more tiresome, but it can be done. I sure hope your grandsons enjoy this recipe! Have a great rest of your week😉💜💜
Looks good , can’t wait to try . Just wondering the recipe of the sweet almond pretzel they sell, is it Almond meal or flour on the top with. Powdered sugar ? I can’t find that recipe anywhere. Anyone?
I’m pregnant and have been craving this but I hate going to the mall. Thanks so much!
Thank you so very much for that positive feedback! I hope you enjoy this recipe. When my mom’s friends were pregnant, she would make homemade pretzels for them. That’s kind of funny! I think it was the only thing they could eat when they were super sick. Thank you so much for your feedback and thank you so much for watching!💜💜
Looking forward to making these today! I’ll let you know how it goes, Julia! :)
They came out great! I think I got the Auntie Anne’s taste & feel down, I just need to get the dough thinner so it’s not as thick. Thank you for the recipe! I’ll keep trying a few times to get the thickness down. :)
You should give it a try with confectioner's sugar instead of brown sugar, to see if it makes a difference.
Hallo Julia, thank you for sharing the recipe. One question, if i use the instan yeat, should i use the same mount of active yeast?? Your answer will be really helpfull, thank you
Yes you should!
Would you consider doing a fast lunches for kids for parents working from home? I need fast ideas so I'm not spending my whole break cooking. Thank you
That is such a good idea Rachel!!! I’ll put it on my calendar! I’ll try to make one in the near future (:
May I suggest prepping furits and veggies and keeping them in storage containers in your fridge. Making your own "uncrustables" and freezing them, along with burritos. You can also make up ahead of time a stack of individual lunches with things like rice, chicken and veggies or whatever your kids like. Add cups or tubes of yogurt, and cubed cheese and your all set and your kids have easy nutritious meals. 💗
Can I use pure baking soda??
Does it matter what type of yeast
Thank you for the video! May I ask what type of flour are you using in this recipe? All purpose flour or bread flour? Thanks! =)
I used all purpose! I should’ve been more clear. Have a wonderful day :-)
Julia Pacheco thanks❤️I’m going to make this in the coming weekend🤤 miss Auntie Anne’s pretzels so much as they closed all shops in Hong Kong years ago 😭
What would happen if I put them in the baking soda right before they go into the oven??? Will it be ok??
What temperature do you bake the pretzels and how long?
450 F, for 7-11 minutes according to description
How do i do this if we dont have a big mixer
is the recipe available in grams?
I didn’t see you add the brown sugar in the mix? 🤔
where are you from?
Everything is well explained but oven temperature and baking time not mentioned :(
I apologize! Here’s the exact recipe (:

Can u use pizza yeast?
Hello, set the Chinese subtitles, thank you ❤
Excellent pretzel recipe, but not like Auntie Anne's. They are soft and delicious though! I baked @ 425° for 8-9 minutes.
Mine didn't raise :(
Oh no! Maybe your yeast is bad?
I made these and, while they looked great, when i ate them, they tasted like baking soda in my mouth. My kids thought too, without i told them anything. It was disgusting and so upsetting after spending all that time in the kitchen. Definitely won't be using anymore 1/3 of a cup baking soda, that is too much. A spoon will be enough.
It’s auntie, not Annie Anne
Inflation has hit the store outlet hard. Two pretzels are $13 plus taxes. Those pretzels are small.
That is outrageous! I didn’t know that. I hope you enjoy this recipe!😉💜
Tht don't look right
Thanks for your recipe but sloppy-looking pretzels!!!!
I made these..... literally met god.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad that you enjoyed them, they truly are so delicious:)
Faith, The substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
There’s a missing puzzle piece in everyone’s heart. People try multiple things to fill that hole like sex, drugs, alcohol etc. But it’s only temporary and makes the hole even bigger. Making the good things in your heart spill out. But That missing puzzle piece is God. Only God can fill that emptiness in your heart. And when you accept God he gives you his Holy Spirit so that you like things that are holy, right and just. He holds you under his protection and his overwhelming never ending reckless love. He puts that puzzle piece into your heart and holds your heart now and forever.
You may have never given God a try. You may have only gone based off what you seen or heard. But he is giving you an opportunity to seek him for yourself and get to know him. I don’t know you but I love and care about you. And everything you need is in God. That things that you don’t understand about yourself or you think is dumb, he knows and will give you what you ask.
before I was broken, still searching for the truth. But then He came along, and changed my life and eternity. And I never want to go back to the broken person I was before. Because the truth and the light has set me free. Look where my chains are now, gone. I want that for you and each and every person. So I’m sharing the Good News and the best news just so that i meet you guys in heaven. There’s no love greater than this and of God.
You’ll never know how a food taste until you taste it. So I’m pleading with you, try it out, see what you become, read the Bible, talk to him in prayer, or at least research about it. All our lives we did nothing for God except ignore and disobey him. But no matter what or who we are, he still loves us. Run to the father. He’s been standing behind you protecting you all this time, but you turned away from him and faced the dark, but now he’s calling on you, his arms has been open all along, waiting to welcome you back home where you belong. He’ll hold you forever.
What’s the wait? He’s been waiting for you. God wants to know you. He’s come as close to you as he can. Open the door to him and welcome him in. See what happens.
For I hold you by your right hand. I, the Lord your God. And I say to you,
‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.’
Isaiah 41:13
And this is the gospel of Jesus Christ.
@@David.124 dude, I appreciate what your trying to do but,,, my first comment was a joke. I’m already a Presbyterian. Relax and make some of these pretzels. (They are REALLY good)
@@wrenl7690 It’s just a great reminder and I hope you consider what I said. And Yes I’m making them later today
@@wrenl7690 but does it actually taste like auntie Anne’s or is it a little different?
