- A trip down memory lane of old Stalybridge in Cheshire using old photos and postcards from 1860-1930, mainly taken and produced by local photographer William Emmett. All of course originally in Monochrome, but now colourised by me. Made for non-profit, educational, entertainment purposes only for the memories of days gone by.
Thanks David! I'm an old Ashton lad but went to West Hill, now living in Australia. That was very nostalgic 👍
When I lived in Stalbridge 50 years ago, I worked at the old Victorian swimming baths. Some good memories.
Never knew that Stalybridge could look so beautiful. I drive through on the A635 once a week. I wish it looked like that now
I’m from Tameside, it’s great to see pictures like this. I’ve lived in France for over ten years. I used to visit Carr’s bakery for a pie a dinner when I went to Westhill school
Excellent collection of photos. Great to see them in colour!
Thank you for sharing these pictures it was lovely to see how earlier generations went about their lives
Thanks, from Norway.
❤Excellent ❤
Well put together
Made me Homesick , awesome to see these pics Thankyou :)
Where did you move too?
Blow me. The old buildings looked so much better than the new ones. How tidy Mottram Road was and other places, not a piece of rubbish anywhere. I honestly don't think Stalybridge has changed for the better over the years. The population has grown and the amount of cars, I suppose that had a lot to do with it over the years.
Wish is was like this now use to be a beautiful town 😢
