Just to add a couple points: 1- The gnome building in Azshara is accesible by a road from the main land. Is one of the many hidden vendors in the game. I think this one sells the mythril dragonling schematics or something like that. Sorry is been nearly 15 years since i went there for the last time. 2- The Heliport is for an alliance quest that starts at Ironforge where you had to go to Azshara and recover 3 gems. Then you had to go there and Brann would come in his flying machine to pick em up. I love that detail. It was the 1st time i saw one of those actualy moving and not just in display. 3- Those "random" anchors arent actualy that random. They act as landmarks for quests. As you know , originaly there wasn't a tracking function that told you were to go for your quest, so you had to find whatever it was you were looking for using the directions given in the quest text. Anchors were used often to point you towards the treasure, or sometimes, the treasure was literaly under it, or the mob you were looking was next to it or close, or the quest would say "swim down west from the giant anchor". Desolace is one of my favorite vanilla zones. The quests in the underwater ruins were always so much fun for me. I know lots of people hate underwater quests, but i find them, excuse the pun, a breath of fresh air, from all the regular land quests. And i just love the underwater ambiences. I think the game needs those quests more often.
About the first one: Also sells Schematic: Deepdive Helmet which can sell for 100+ gold on AH right now on WotLK (I guess because it's so far to get it, people would rather buy it for higher price).

Good thing he did not show off the depths of northern Kalimdor. North of Winterspring the floor just drops straight off into an abyss. If you have Thalassophobia (fear of large bodies of water) that's a bad place to swim.
Exploring in wow shows you how much content was cut from Vanilla and never released. They had big plans for Grim Batol, Azshara, Desolace and some other unreachable areas. But they were left on the cutting room floor
This game has endless mysteries. I just started playing WotLK CLassic. It's been 14 years since I played WotLK. Leveling from 1 to 30 was incredibly fun. Probably my favorite stretch. Vanilla and TBC I had the same feeling with. 1-30 (even though it took MUCH longer back then). LoL!!
Another awesome exploration video. Reminds me of when I first started playing the game, and on some late nights I would just…travel the world. Climb mountains, swim coasts, and ultimately be awestruck by the beauty of Azeroth. You’re really recapturing that feeling with these videos, great work man.
4:08 i do not know if you are aware but the Duke used to be the NPC you got the water from to douse the runes in Molten Core. He got no quests to give anymore now that the water is no longer needed
fun fact the boats near scuttle coast have tool boxes in them from an early horde quest, also coming from private server scene that durotar waterfall is a good early money maker on vanilla servers. great video!
the waterfall between aszhara and winterspring is something i accidentally encountered on classic months ago, while questing with my brother, and totally forgot about it! what a lovely location
Thank you for recording your exploration of Kalimdor! It's fun to ponder how things got where they are around the coasts. I did not know about the shipwrecked crew south of Azshara, thank you for showing me something new about this game.
I loved exploring zones and weird places like out of bounds areas in old wow. I like looking around in the post-cata changed world too to see what's different but it's a bit more dull because of the way the game is meant to be played nowadays
Thank you for the comment! :) Especially with the addition of universal flying, from my point of view the entire idea of exploring means a little less after Cataclysm.

I hope these do as well, I would love to see you put out some more WoW videos! I think it would be super cool if you made a video series of you getting “The Explorer” title, and also exploring each zone in depth. Initially I just wanted to do it for the easy title, but once I explored a few zones it started becoming almost addicting lol. It was almost sort of sad when I discovered the last area of that last zone… 😂

Wow, this is actually really cool to watch! I used to swim around certain areas as well to see what was hidden underwater, I've found some strange stuff.. Glad to see I'm not the only explorer left!!
I played WoW back in classic through to wrath. My first character was a NE druid. Back then the game was shiney and new and more importantly, the breath mechanic was far more dangerous at the time. You could drown within about 30 seconds or so. This made Druids and Warlocks kings of underwater combat. But yeah i was filled with wonder by the game and i ended up doing something quite simular to what you're doing, though i didn't set a goal or anything. I swam the coasts making discoveries, i was so enthralled with the undersea life that i ended up spending nearly a week just swimming around the coasts and discovering what i could. The waters were far more dangerous than they are nowadays, or at least it seems so. I remember there used to be large elite sharks that would prowl around the deeper parts near the fatigue zones. The last time i checked (during legion) they were all gone.
My favourite one is at the edge of the coastal seabed at the westernmost part of Westfal - just where it starts to become steep into the ocean floor. Halfway down where your breath would end, there's a chest for the druid aquatic form quest. When you go there the atmosphere and water color become darker and really eerie, and you can see a shipwreck waaaaaaay down at the ocean floor. I was so scared when I first went there (was like 12 years old at the time). I wanted to go to the ship, but I felt overwhelming doom, haha. (you barely have enough fatigue left when you are close to reaching the ship)

I didn’t have flying for a lot of it, and I also loved to run into zones I was way under-leveled for. 😂 I remember being somewhere around 30-40 and following my best friend through Zangarmarsh trying to not die while she quested.
My fun fact about Darkshore: there are bunch of quests about examining the turtle skeletons along the coasts, whose style reminds of pandaren mounts, but this isn't said ingame. Maybe this is a foreshadowing to the upcoming Mists of Pandaria expansion. I think this, because there is also another quest in Darkshore about a glowing red crystal which makes the moonkins angry, and we don't know who put it there. It is now clear that it should be a part of the nearby draenei mothership, so this quest foreshadows the Burning Crusade expansion.
Yes!! I just quested in Darkshore to hit level 20 and oh MAN I definitely want to make a video about those beached sea creatures sometime… the red crystal is very cool too! I think it definitely foreshadows the Exodar ;)
I find it lovely to explore this way. When I started playing classic I found this hidden pass from the Hinterlands into the Western Plaguelands. I never knew it was there...? It felt almost like a small story for me to have some trolls flee the Scourge expanse through this pass, or maybe even humans, towards the 'safety' of the Hinterlands. Going from Plague brown towards lush green really aided in that feeling though.
Thank you for sharing your story! :) I like your thinking with that… makes sense especially how there are now undead trolls who did not escape the Scourge in the Plaguelands!
@@Jediwarlock O h man their story is so sad. Just like the Drakari. I think I love the tragedy of the troll empires most. Everywhere around the world you see them grasp splinters of that what once was. One thing I did notice on their ruins though. Have you ever noticed that they are literally plastered with swastikas? It's a pattern, but once you have seen it you really can't unsee it.
At the Zoram Strand, there is a Giant turtle skeleton near to where the main tributary meets the sand and grass border... The interesting this about it, is that it has a manmade structure on its giant shell, akin to East Asian architecture... I found it a few weeks ago while levelling another toon. I had seen it many times before on many other toons over the years, but this is the first time I had actually taken note of it. I couldn't find anything out about it though. But made me think if it was a long abandoned foreshadowing of MoP... though I'm unsure if that aspect of lore was even a concept back in classic.
Pandaren have been around since 2003 with Frozen Throne so it's definitely a possibility that it could be a reference to them. Whether or not it actually is though, lol. Only Blizz knows, I guess.
There is an aimilar turtle with an Asian looking saddle-thingy on the coast if the Arathi Highlands so it was an asset they used a few times. I am sure they had thought of the Pandaren civilization before they made vanilla
Very observant! There are also a couple in Swamp of Sorrows along with a very Pandaren-looking bridge! ;) no official confirmation by Blizzard but it is fun to think about I think!! :)
Great video as always. I know there are a collection of islands off map in Tanaris that require water walking + horse riding + knowing where they are to get to through the fatigue. I've been there once before but had a hard time getting back there on my own (I went with a friend). I look forward to your next video!
I visited the islands in a beta build. It's interesting how far the devs got in developing the islands and yet how unfinished they are. It'll be interesting to see if Blizz added any NPCs. Can't wait for the next video. :)
I remember swimming around both continents as a child! I thought the coastlines were so cool and liked catching glimpses of level ?? mobs. I was never able to get much higher than level 30 at the time.
Great idea! I've always loved exploring in MMOs and the fact the game designers will drop Easter Eggs to find. Sub +1, I mean how could I not be part of the Jedi Order!
If you are not a nightelf and u die at the most northern tip in Darkshore, you actually respawn in Moonglade! Used to do this to catch the most valuable fish in Vanilla Classic and I believe it also had some speedrun uses.
There's a dead "old god" in darkshore on the beach. it has the same model as c'thun. I remember back in vanilla when everyone was theorycrafting where the other old gods were in the game. As far as I know thats the only place in the game where that model is used outside of c'thun itself.
I think the sunken land you think may have been a starting area is just evidence of the Sundering. All the continents were connected before being destroyed, sinking under the sea. Always found that disturbing considering how large ancient Kalimdor was...
Great point! I completely spaced that possibility but I think it makes a lot of sense! There are definitely places where you can totally see that lining up :)
The island off the coast of Darkshore in Pre-Cata is the location of the Lighthouse in Classic WoW. The ruined house you find there is all that remains of the caretaker's cottage. No real quests to speak of attached to it sadly. Hope you found The Cave off the coast of Uldum and it's mysterious guest inside. I was sadly he had no lore attached for Dragonflight.
Thank you for the comment! The one here in Azshara is for the engineering schematic, there is another one coming soon that is part of the AQ quest line ;)
I wonder if it would have been a bit easier to do this using the shaman farsight at some place where you can target the ground below the waterline and start from there. It wouldn't have been as cool as personally exploring though haha.
Really cool video. It is something I always wanted to do, until Blizz killed by love for Warcraft lore. Now it just feels meaningless after lame story directions starting with Cataclysm. But I am still glad you basically allowed it for me to check it off my bucket list. I will definitely binge your other vids on this.
I think all new players do this? I started at northern Darkshore, but couldn't get past the high level mobs in the water off Aszhara, so portalled out after dying a few times. This was shortly before Cataclysm.
What a beautiful content you're doing here. My thalassophobia drives me crazy sometimes, when I'm trying to do the same. Was flying from Fjord to Eastern Kingdoms with my extremely fast DK and reached the noflying zone of the extremely dark sea. Continued to run on regular mount with the help of Path of Frost until death from fatigue. Reached more than a halfway and got almost near the Eastern Kingdoms most Northwestern point. Was scared af thou, coz it's a dark dark sea with no borders and bottom. Resurrected in Barrens somehow after that. Love your work, coz I'm playing WoW exactly the same with a lot of love to scenery and locations of Classic. BTW, what programs you use to capture locations of Classic from above with such smoothness. I can fly in TBC and WotLK to capture footages, but in Vanilla regions there is no flying, but you somehow capture locations from far distances and height.
Thank you for the thoughtful comment! :) I play on a WotLK private server to film these videos, and the videos where I have "flying" overhead shots are actually retrieved by the server's GM, Wowmaster! He helps me out with some of my video gathering... I think he has commands where he either can fly slowly or he modifies where the camera can go! Not sure too much beyond that but I appreciate the question!
@@Jediwarlock thanks for the info. Thought it's some sort of private server feature and it is. :) It looks so clean and smooth. The type of content I was looking for in a while, enjoying it so much. Wish you good luck with it. And waiting for more water runs. :D Was questing in The Storm Peaks yesterday and saw an Island in the northwestern part, flew through fatigue and reached Hrothgar's Landing. Never knew about it and I'm playing WoW for almost 14 years. New discoveries every time. :D Also, I'm wondering, if it's possible to remove water from the world entirely to look and walk at the bottom of the sea. There was a bug on Classic PTR where somehow the oceans are missing in the Blood Elf and Draenei Starting zones, as well as on the Isle of Quel'danas. Really want to watch it. :D
@@Jediwarlock I'm off WoW, unfortunately, I wanna play it really bad but all in good time ;) and soon, hopefully! =) ua-cam.com/users/shortspviXk8RhYrg
Such a great and relaxing video, I really love your content! As for those hidden chests around the world, it would be great if Blizzard actually hid some great rewards inside of each for those who do love to explore, like cosmetics, viable weapons for your class, high amounts of gold, pet companions, or even a rare mount. Instead all we find inside are cold milk, bread, or dwarven cheese, among other trash. 😔
Don't forget, that these things are vanilla too. Cosmetics were by most added in cataclysm. High amounts of gold would have changed the perspective of vanilla exchange. Companions weren't a thing back then and mounts were limited.
@@SypherRed I understand that, I started playing around 2008. It would just be cool if Blizzard changed that at some point, is all I was saying. Would make it more fun to explore. Just a thought. 😉

Yes!! I just quested in Darkshore to hit level 20 and oh MAN I definitely want to make a video about those beached sea creatures sometime… the red crystal is very cool too! I think it definitely foreshadows the Exodar ;)
3:14 you can get up to without wall jumping :)
Good vid tho! Nice to see you got some tracktions with Asmon!
Thank you! I did not know Asmon saw one of them??? :D
Props for dedication... and nice vid :)
Thank you very much! :)
I did this when I was in my early days of WoW. Absolutely miss this😁
Glad I could give you a nostalgic experience with this :)
Great video as always. I know there are a collection of islands off map in Tanaris that require water walking + horse riding + knowing where they are to get to through the fatigue. I've been there once before but had a hard time getting back there on my own (I went with a friend). I look forward to your next video!
JUST finished filming that chapter of Part 2! ;)
I visited the islands in a beta build. It's interesting how far the devs got in developing the islands and yet how unfinished they are. It'll be interesting to see if Blizz added any NPCs. Can't wait for the next video. :)
I had to check the year because the crust was just 2000s enough to bring a smile to my face
Haha, that's the spirit I'm trying to capture with my videos ;)
These videos have made me also go explore places in wow i never knew existed love your content ❤
I'm glad I've inspired you to go on some adventures of your own! Thank you :)
LETTSS FFFF GOOOOOOO glad this video came out!
Glad you’re enjoying them! :)
Yooo I was waiting for this, excited to watch it
Glad you’re enjoying them! :)
This is so chill and a great way to enjoy breakfast :D
I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
shoutout to jediwarlock bringing back the nostalgia
Thanks! :D
At 6:30 thats the place back when I first started wow me and a friend found and we called that our Guild HQ, some good times there.
Very cool! Thank you for sharing :)
this is the most interesting wow video that i have seen so far :)
I’m glad you enjoyed it! :)
I remember swimming around both continents as a child! I thought the coastlines were so cool and liked catching glimpses of level ?? mobs. I was never able to get much higher than level 30 at the time.
Haha, that sounds pretty familiar to me as well! ;) ... my original character "Jediknight" never made it past the 30s either!
hell yea man love it keep up the good work
Thank you very much! :) Glad to have a Death Knight join the Jedi Order, haha
@@Jediwarlock whats funny in swtor i play a lightside sith inquisitor xD
Something to note is that the color of water is decided by the skybox. Which is why when going between zones, the water might drastically change hue.
Good point! I think the weirdest one for me was in Durotar with the purple water in the orange zone! XD
Great idea! I've always loved exploring in MMOs and the fact the game designers will drop Easter Eggs to find. Sub +1, I mean how could I not be part of the Jedi Order!
Happy to have you with us! :)
Great video, thank you!
You are most welcome! :)
If you are not a nightelf and u die at the most northern tip in Darkshore, you actually respawn in Moonglade! Used to do this to catch
the most valuable fish in Vanilla Classic and I believe it also had some speedrun uses.
Fascinating! I might have to check that out sometime :)
@@Jediwarlock You should! The Rested EXP addon actually takes you to very weird places when you speedrun the game. Great places for a video tbh.
Oh man, so sad that poor blood elf died. She was so cute and curious
A casualty of the deep XD who knows? Maybe she will come back someday…
There are a lot of sunken wrecks we only ever see sunken!
Indeed! :)
There's a dead "old god" in darkshore on the beach. it has the same model as c'thun. I remember back in vanilla when everyone was theorycrafting where the other old gods were in the game. As far as I know thats the only place in the game where that model is used outside of c'thun itself.
Oh yes, the Master's Glaive! :D Very mysterious area!
I am on Classic WoW so I probably will not find anybody inside, but we will see! :)
LETS Go!!
:D
The best beach IMO is in the very south of Kalimdor - World's End Beach. Enjoy!
Just finished filming that part of the next video earlier! ;) lots going on there!
I just love the old Darkshore
It wasn't one of my favorites until my most recent questing experience... it has some very cool questlines! :)
@@Jediwarlock I also love the vibe of it and those grey beaches!
Clearly the bridge makes those prototype ships susceptible to sinking
Indubitably XD
top notch as usual
Thank you! :)
YEAPPP Nice video, master!
Thank you very much! :)
Dig more for information, make longer videos. This is amazing!
Thank you for the feedback! :) I’m glad you are enjoying them!
Dude, I did this back in 2004. Back before the world was expanded and it was somewhat harder. I did find some weird terrain stuff.
Thanks for sharing! :)
That hidden gnome house it for a quest for the ahn quiraj chain i believe also a vendor sells an engineering schematic
Thank you for the comment! The one here in Azshara is for the engineering schematic, there is another one coming soon that is part of the AQ quest line ;)
5:29 moon glade sky box lol
Haha, yes! XD
I just did this tonight.Explored all around 3 zones.
Awesome! Good to know there are other explorers out there ;)
@@Jediwarlock I took around 13 yrs off the game and when I returned, found myself in the minority of players.
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NEW SWIM AROUND A CONTINENT
Woohoo! :)
please also do an episode about hidden places on the continents, e.g. hidden quests or vendors :D
I definitely have lots of ideas about that! Thank you for your feedback ;)
These vids need to be longer :))))
Thanks for the feedback! Good to know I don’t need to cut as much out next time ;)
Great video!
Thank you! :)
5:15 ah, you're on a pserver. Makes sense
Very observant! ;) Yes, I film most of my vids on that server :)
I personally play on chromiecraft, there's a PTR with GM commands if you ever wanted to explore harder to reach areas
*devs putting random anchors* "we do a little bit of trolling"
Haha, right? XD
Keeping the old world alive!
You know it! :D
I wonder if it would have been a bit easier to do this using the shaman farsight at some place where you can target the ground below the waterline and start from there. It wouldn't have been as cool as personally exploring though haha.
Hmm, that is not a bad idea! I might have to revisit some of those places with a Shaman ;)
Thank you very much! :) I agree with your thoughts on the modern lore... I'm definitely more of a Classic guy!
cool content, greetings from amsterdam
Thank you! Happy to have you with us :)
You talk like that youtube guy who bought a lobster for dinner, decided to keep it as pet and named it Leon I like it, good vibes!
Thank you! :)
I think all new players do this? I started at northern Darkshore, but couldn't get past the high level mobs in the water off Aszhara, so portalled out after dying a few times. This was shortly before Cataclysm.
Haha, I think a lot of new players attempt it too ;) ... or at least the adventurous ones!
Let's go bro, we rising
Haha, yes!! :)
Also, I'm wondering, if it's possible to remove water from the world entirely to look and walk at the bottom of the sea. There was a bug on Classic PTR where somehow the oceans are missing in the Blood Elf and Draenei Starting zones, as well as on the Isle of Quel'danas. Really want to watch it. :D
That's how you play a game! ;)
The Game, in this case.
The Game indeed XD
@@Jediwarlock I'm off WoW, unfortunately, I wanna play it really bad but all in good time ;) and soon, hopefully! =)

Thanks! :)
@@Jediwarlock glad i found your channel a few weeks ago keep on uploading
I like your thoughts! :) thank you for the comment!
@@SypherRed I understand that, I started playing around 2008. It would just be cool if Blizzard changed that at some point, is all I was saying. Would make it more fun to explore. Just a thought. 😉
