- www.alexandermcqueen.com - Alexander McQueen's 2013 Women's Autumn Winter Collection
The ecclesiastical wardrobe, from communion gowns to cardinals' robes. The high church. Nuns, popes, angels. Ballets Russes. Virgin Queen.
The collection comprises ten looks, presented in pairs. The waist is cinched and the hips are exaggerated throughout. Volumes are overblown but lightness is paramount. Hyper-worked embellishment demonstrates an obsessive attention to detail -- and detail within detail. Sharp pressing, multiple folds, quintuple and dégrade pleats, soutage embroidery, triple bulleting, silk and metal thread embroideries and more all feature. Rhombic grids lend a sense of graphic modernity to surfaces. Pearls and teardrop pearls evoke beauty and rarity. Hoop skirts, caging and corsetry enhance and idealise a quintessentially feminine silhouette and introduce an erotic undercurrent further suggested by lace incrustation and harnessing. Each look is worn with an embellished ruff: faces are framed. - Навчання та стиль
Alexander Mcqueen would love this collection.
every season there is this one show where music is so well suited you dream of its sounds
Sarah Burton has made a great job here! I absolutely adore her designs! She never gave up the touch of Alexander McQueen. I'd dare to say he is alive in her designs
wow I can see the influence of history in house of McQueen just beautiful and painstakingly gorgeous! You set the bar
Always a pleasure to view an Alexander McQueen event.
OHH DEAR it took me a while till the ending to notice that this collection is made of pairs with subtle differences.. they almost looked like twins with personality or the a reflection off a mirror... soo much digging the Victorian/Elizabethan influence... the headpiece looked like Fabergé eggs... J'adore!!!!
That's right... Well said.... Agreed.... Copy that.....at one instinct I thought this is not a brand...... It's more than that...... By noticing ur comment I guess my assumption was right..... TQ....
Breathtaking in it's beauty and detail.....long live the Queen!
I love it!!!! Kinda wish there was more
This collection is a masters work of art!!
Even though it's short I LOVE it. it reminds me of Lee's posthumous collection, "Angels and Demons"
I love the use of the building to create an atmosphere for the pieces vs. your typical runway
God Bless you Sarah Burton!
SO Exquisite ! We are lucky to have you at the helm, Sarah!
Yes, ten designs were separated in pairs, are communion, nuns, cardinals, popes, and angels. So great :)
Elegance and magnificence!! Love these designs
This is sexy collection. Even though McQueen is no longer with us, his company has done a beautiful job of keeping his inspiration alive. I always look forward to this show. It's fantastic, the clothes are gorgeous.
Congratulation Alexander McQueen! The best collection in the world made by the genius. In my opinion it is a new age in the history of fashion Art, aesthetic, historic time and religion all together.
Absolutely love this collection !
I truely love this collection n music is wonderful!!!
Very Chic collection. It gets an A+
There is no point comparing to McQueen himself - what's important is that his spirit lives on! Par excellent xo
For me, the best thing Sarah Burton has done so far.
I agree that the essence of McQueen is gone. Some of the elements of this collection remind me of past McQueen collections that Lee did. Sarah maybe his protege, but she's staying in Lee's shadow, and it seems like she's content there. Its a gorgeous collection, but it lacks the drama and dream like quality of classic McQueen. The tailoring, as always is spot on though.
labor of love....very historic, it's like ms sarah burton lecturing me about whats fashion before, the medieval yet armored yet queenly , she alwyas left me awestruck...
These outfits photographed by Tim Walker would slay so hard
i agree so much with you, there can never be 2 the same, not even if someone tried to copy mcqueen it could never be mcqueen, its the same like drawing 2 x's the other x with allways look diffrent than the first one no matter how much you try it, i love that sarah burton still goes for the essence of mcqueen and that is the powerfull woman, sarah burton hands down is one of my favorite designers
The theme is exquisit, the detail is gloryfied (it took 2 weeks to make EACH look), What is interesenting is the choice of the twin looks, when knowing that shes pregnant with twins
a lot of these peces look like a fusion between the 1920s and the Elizabethan age. lovely collection
So amazing!
The legacy lives on!
You're right!!!, by the way i really like your channel.
OMG, so stunning!, it reminds me of maria antoinet
Great collection.
LONG LIVE McQWEEN!
AW AMAZING I LOVE THRM ALL!!!!!!! xxxx :)
Angels and Demons was heavenly, this was just good
this is beautiful
i feel that sarah is trying to use inspiration as closed up as cardinals, nuns and virgin queens and opening up that closed space that those figures have in an extravagant and strange way, which she succeeded in.and i do see lee in all her collections but she needs to be more provokative and risky like lee because that was his x-factor along with bringing out peoples emotions.she also has shown some of that in her last collection but now im torn, but still beautiful
Phenomenal!!!
Agree with Ms Revesz, historical fashion, artistic aesthetics, historic time and religion all together. Given the recent events, a slightly dark sensibility like a viewer referred to as wandering spirits is entirely appropriate. Lee McQueen's overt drama may have gone with him, but for Sarah Burton to try to imitate that would be a mockery, and she's far too great a designer for that. Brava Sarah!
Magnifique
The cage motif really represents Sarah's internal struggle to live in the shadow of Lee. Burton is brilliant.
Oh wow I didn’t notice that
love it
I get a feeling of asphyxiation just looking at those head pieces
Sarah Burton, the head designer of McQueen, is on maternity leave ... so, this is an a way just a mini collection, so that they do not skip PFW entirely, but they will be back with a full collection next season ...
I see my wedding dress...I wanted a period pieces with the party dressed as backup ..beautiful tears
Fabulous.
Some people may probably say there is no need to compare Sarah's work with Lee's, but comparison is inevitable, just like most of us would compare Hedi to Stefano, Wang to Nicholas. To me, comparison is essential because not only it tells us which director is making use of the house's archive more intelligently, it also tells which of them is making more contributions to the rest of fashion world.
This collection is more Haute Couture, have religious and baroque touches, a stunning collection for those who can admire his art. God Save McQueen!
i like the show
please , who know to say me the artist of the song?
OMG
Honestly, I think you couldn't choose anyone better to replace Lee. I still get the same vibe AND she did work with him... So...
Comparing McQueen to Galliano is like comparing order to chaos respectively, and besides, they both have such distinct styles and immense brand recognition. It would be like appointing the Dalai Lama as the new pope.
Totally agree
I couldnt agree more
I agree. All Sarah Burton does is black, white and beige gowns.
I miss the diversity in McQueen's collections. Runways that had impeccably tailored pants, suits, and jackets, flirty cocktail dresses, weird prosthetic corsets, over-the-top flights of fancy, cool shoes, and color, prints and patterns.
labor of love....very historic, it's like ms sarah burton lecturing me about whats fashion before, the medieval yet armored yet queenly in
this kinda reminds me of Chanel's Edimbourg collection. why was this so short? :(
I have already accepted the fact that McQueen wouldnt be the same. How could it be the same when there is a new designer under his name. But I believe his spirit still lives in Sarah's work because she not only designs for us and for Lee, but for herself; just like how Lee would design. In the words of Karl Lagerfeld "I play with Chanel's elements like a musician plays with notes. You don't have to make the same music if you are a decent musician." and Sarah is by far greater than decent.
one thing I'm sure, the McQueen emotion has gone, that is the beauty of suffered.
Majestic
lee was about his life, tradition and heritage relating to his work, sarah is doing the same. thats why we are gttn
¿Quien se compraría algo así? Mcqueen no debería estar muerto
Totally Agree, Sad But True...
At McQueen, it's really great that Sarah is not copying the genius of Lee's. Otherwise we won't be able to see the differences that clearly; we won't notice the intensity of the shows has been diluted; we won't even feel the artistic element have faded away from McQueen's creations;
To me, that is a bad change, as I personally like something naturally driven by an idea, appropriate details and wise constructions, last but not least, a performance of art every six month.
For some people, high fashion involves obsessive detail and embellishment. For some, it involves minimal construction and powerful color and print. For some it's masculine, for others feminine.
A fashion house isn't meant to have a director who copies the genius of the previous director. It's meant to change, as a reflection of what different people bring to the same position -- in that sense, it's a business. Sarah likes voluminous, detailed dresses, and the buyers love it.
what is this music? it's insanely good.
It's set in Paris in some room of an Orchestra Palace I think
Well, it was an enormous shoe to fill when McQueen passed away.
To be fair, Sarah is trying to do her best to meet people's expectation. It's just her vision, design concepts are not as great as Lee's, after all, Lee is truly irreplaceable. Sarah seems to be the best choice since she has assisted him in the house for over a decade. It's really a difficult task to think of any other suitable designers to keep the house going.
MORE OF THE SAME...THIS IS AMAZINGLY WELL DONE CRAFTSMANSHIP IS SUPERB...BUT MORE OF THE SAME....UNFORTUNATELY. WILL THIS MAISON EVOLVE ONE DAY? OR WILL BE LOOKING AT MC QUEENS TRIBUTES FOR EVER...
I prefer his previous work! Don't know how is the designer of that studio now ....
I think that Sarah Burton intentionally made the twin theme because she's expecting twins. It's too bad that she wasn't there for the presentation due to her being on maternity leave.
sarah should be designing for chanel
What is the music? i need it))) love it
I understand the complete change in estetic if Raf Simmons was at Alexander McQueen. But would John Galliano serve as a good alternative, if Sarah would ever have to step down? Comments?
You seem to think that minimalism is not fashion. Raf and Sarah have completely different aesthetics and they're both considered very strong designers in fashion. It's about versatility and staying true to one's style; no one's style is better than another's. I bet money on you being a Galliano's stan.
i know. but i see that Sarah Burton's really trying. She's not as risky with her designs as Lee was.
I guess the music sounds like Pantha du prince and the bell laboratory. ???
I think Raymond Watts has done the music be for I dont know if he did this.
Raf Simons? No.
Thom Browne or Gareth Pugh? Absolutely
sarah captured lee's aesthetic in amore feminine matter. canwe just stop comparingher tothe late mcqueen. coz there is only 1 alexander and no one can change that. were still very lucky to see this kind of creations were the collections is all about fashion not for minimalism. i just wonder how things get worst if this house wasn't handled by hands of sarah. just imagine raf simons at alexander mcqueen?
labor of love....very historic, it's like burton lecturing me about whats in the medieval yet armored yet queenly f
as i read the title it says that it s just a PRESENTATION!
I strongly disagree. Fashion is a way of expressing art, and is the telling of an invision. It is not only meant for the sole purpose of being worn. This collection is amazing in the fact that the detailing and the quality is impeccable. Additionally, the design factor is new, and has not been seen before.
Remember, Sarah is pregnant and tries her best but actually I agree with you! sarah is not risky!!
Lol recorded applauses. Nobody's clapping anymore at 5:35.
CLOTHES FIT FOR ROYALTY.
This show takes place where? in what building?
Opera Comique in Paris
whats the name of the music? dies anyone know??? please let me knoe
Does anyone know the music from this runway?!
what is the music and where is it set?
Exquisita colección, lo malo: Muy breve.
Well, thanks to some of the outfits, the models at least have hips. Even if it's only for a minute.
feels like something karl would design for chanel :(
and no one says, all lee did is scottish and victorianism. so what if sarah is all english? maybe she is english..lee xcelled in cuts and construction bec he is a tailor. sarah finished textile design and i dont think lee with his previous works surpassed what sarah achieved in details. its something to be recognized. i think lee repeated his techniques and effects so many times and no one notices.
song, pleas?
Of course her designs arent gonna look like a McQueen because she is not McQueen. Only Lee himself can do McQueen. Sarah is gonna do her best to have the spirit of McQueen to live in her clothes and she has been doing it. She is doing feminine, highly detailed, modern, classic, over the top looks and you dont think that represents Lee at all? Unconventional and dark themed looks was just ONE side of McQueen and maybe one day she will go there; I appreciate what she is doing for McQueen right now
