Niroki Itisme You missed something truly beautiful and exceptionally gorgeous. I suggest buying the catalogue that accompanied this exhibition. It's a beautiful book. You won't be disappointed. 😊😊
How I wish I could of had the honor and pleasure to have seen this exhibition. Very few designers have the knack and talent to make clothes come alive and convey a story. Majestic, in awe and simply magnificent. RIP Mr. McQueen.
Rubaida Allen I know. I am still sad about it. But I saw the Chaos to Couture exhibition a few years later and there were some McQueen pieces there. For example the spray paint dress. It was fantastic.
McQueen was more of an artist, a visionary poet, than a fashion designer. Fashion was the medium in which he worked, but you can always see in his work the sheer force of his subversive imagination, almost always breaking the constrains that designing clothes imposed upon him. His aim was not to make women more attractive or glamorous, he had no real interest in that, but to turn dresses and accessories into a wondrous mean of expression.
This exhibit was the most amazing thing I've ever been to...The light throughout the exhibit was much darker with mostly soft spotlights over each piece and with the music gave it such a dark, eerie feel..but nothing compares to standing in front of each piece being able to look at every stitch and ever detail...truly brilliant
I saw this in person. It was extraordinary - I never forgot any of it, not one piece. So wonderful to see it immortalized on film. I should check around for a coffee table book of it.
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Absolutely gorgeous. I am so happy I attended this exhibition. He was unique. We will never see the likes of this kind of genius ever again.
Keep in mind that the light in the exhibition was considerably darker and more dramatic than here where they had to light for the camera. That being said, this video does its best to show the work. But somehow it isn't able to capture the feeling of each piece, when you are standing directly in front of them.
I still remember the first time seeing this exhibition. I left the galleries in tears and another person leaving at the same time said “I know, I understand.” What an amazing exhibition once an amazing talent. I miss him.
I didn't want this to end. Every piece is so breathtaking. If Poe was his journalistic muse than, at least to me, Francis Bacon or Bosch are definitly present as visual artistic muses as well. Couldn't help but think how lucky the mannequins are to live in this little world you created for them.
i would not go for his handbags because he is not known for them. I would go for a piece of clothing that has a complicated cut. maybe a dress and a blaser
Same here... Not a handbag though. A handkerchief in the shape of a ship's plank, rotting from being the sea too long, only to wash up on the shores of the Amazon
I was fortunate enough to see this at London’s V&A twice. The first time was on a complimentary ticket because my friend’s membership pass permitted her to bring a guest. It was one of the most impressive things I’d ever seen that I went a second time. This time I paid for my ticket because they absolutely deserved my money. Demand was so great that to this day, it is the V&A’s first and only exhibition to go on through the night. I’m talking about queues outside the building at 2am!
Congratulations on being mentioned as one of the Top exhibitions of the 2010s by Artsy! I experienced it first-hand myself and still think about it to this day
I will never forget this exhibit ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I actually saw it twice ...it inspired me beyond words . To see the amazing work up close...just blew my mind . I was just starting out my own fashion work 👗👗 It was truly a life changing moment for me ❤️❤️
I am an American Scot...a very proud McDonald (who's grandmothers were McNair & Grant) who was born & raised away from Skye. I am also a women who appreciates fashion and have always known Alexander McQueen name & the story of his death but never knew of just how much he incorporated our heartbreaking heritage into his work. The Highland Rape and Widows of Culloden are just gorgeous. I'm just very sad that I wasn't aware of this sooner and tonight, watching this & the documentary, I'm really mourning that fact. God bless God speed Alexander.💔
This exhibit BLEW MY MIND... I feel so lucky to have seen it live... It was packed when i seen it though so looking at it this way, years later is almost a completely different experience
Lee was beyond all of us, only he could fully understand the inner workings of his mind. Genius is an understatement. He had so many incredible visions, we will never see another designer on his level in our lifetimes.
I've been to the exhibition in London and I loved it! Every atmosphere in the rooms was on point and it was just amazing to look at his work in real life!
Oh this brings so many memories, one of the most powerful exhibitions I had the pleasure to see at the V&A in London. Beautifully curated, it was a whole experience.
amazing, everything seems so well put together, it's a shame not to can attend to the exhibition... there's a few dresses that i would've love to see as well, but everything is perfect so i can't complain.
In a way this was the most imprtnat show I've ever seen b/c it not only totally change the way I looked at fashion (and art) but museums. (i.e. much more respect for the former, less for the latter)
How funny of u to say that but to be honest I love early McQueen my favorite pieces are from the 2001 Voss collection with my favorite piece being the Medical slide dress as I watch McQueen grow and design I learned and grew to appreciate his sheer talent and eye for design
How I would have loved to see this exhibition live. I love Alexander McQueen’s designs. Pure art.

do you think they will ever exhibit, in London, this collection again? @@rubaidaallen2764

Zosar Zosar perfectly agree, a lot of his clothes were beautiful but not wearable. That's because his a artist not a designer
Zosar Zosar designers are artists aswell
Uh... You have no idea of what he wanted to do with his art and clothes...
@@saraz.1561 Its well documented.

Still gives me Chills, was lucky to see this twice, with not too many other visitors - brought me to tears.
Still moves me in 2021, we miss you Alexander McQueen.
Absolutely
The EDGAR ALLEN POE of the fashion world....What a poetically dark allusion.
I saw this in person. It was extraordinary - I never forgot any of it, not one piece. So wonderful to see it immortalized on film. I should check around for a coffee table book of it.
He wanted to make women look strong and intimidating and I don't see anything wrong with that, either.
Well said.❤
Wow.. how this can go from conception to reality is mind blowing. I think his ideas were truly out of this world.
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Absolutely gorgeous. I am so happy I attended this exhibition. He was unique. We will never see the likes of this kind of genius ever again.
Imagine being a night guard and you have to check the exhibit on Romantic Exoticism at 5:06
right?
Cabinet of Curiousity would be interesting
A dream
I wouldn't mind getting stuck with all those mannequins wearing his work❤
The most artistic and romantic designer in the fashion history!
He's the only one of his ilk. Never to be repeated! Rest well, Lee. You've done a truly magnificent work. ❤

friendlier
True. The exhibit itself was darker and had an unsettling feel to it. Brilliant!!!

Now this is real fashion that i have ever discovered by macqueen, i swear..i've never seen such remarkable art work
Cindy Benjamin him and Gauthier, Vionet, Schiaparelli

I saw the exhibition twice, and cried both times, especially in the cabinet of curiosities. Something profound just happened and I cried

Oh my goodness. His work is so beautiful and takes a refreshing spin on fashion. This makes me want to save up for an AMQ handbag or something.
i would not go for his handbags because he is not known for them. I would go for a piece of clothing that has a complicated cut. maybe a dress and a blaser
Same here....not a handbag though. A jacket.

Can't breathe over how beautiful this exhibit is.
This is my absolutely favorite Andrew Bolton vision in the costume institute online! Brilliant beyond words. Absolutely creative minded! Engrossing.
This is hands down one of the greatest art exhibits I have ever seen, and trust me I have seen many exhibits in my life!
Absolutely breathtaking!!!!!
I was one of the lucky ones to be able to see this masterpiece in person. Absolutely breathtaking 😭😭😭
What an amazing exhibition. The curation and display of the costumes does just homage to the visionary genius that was McQueen.
In 2013 I was fortunate enough to see an exhibition of his gowns and even that one small exhibition was life changing.
No words can describe the beauty of Alexander McQueen's creation.

McQueen is one of my favourite designers. Most of his pieces are very wearable. Divine.
Fantastic. My #1 designer.

This exhibit was amazing! McQueen was a true genius. RIP
I just love it! Love McQueen, love the curatory work. Congrats
The man was an artist. What a huge loss x
Alexander McQueen will always be remembered for his magnificent/avantguard pieces...
My favorite designer! ALWAYS!
True working class hero. RIP Lee.
Great comment, word for word, this hits McQueen's nail on the head.
I love how they debate the design of McQueen from so many angles. Multidimensional
Hhghhh&b;
Agreed, for me, it's like he tells a story with his designs.
Único!!!
Fantástico.
Lo guardo, sus diseños, son un tesoro,intemporales....
this the most provocative and intoxicating exhibit i have ever seen.
I'm running to the MET next week - this is so inspiring.
Omg rip lee, i miss your work
I wish this was traveling!

Incredible artist
I went to see the exhibition in London at midnight and it was still packed.
He was megatalent.I like him very much.
Superb! Can't WAIT to see the show in person!
Magnificent.
Sadly, we'll never know what could have been had he chosen to stay with us...
Amo ❤ de mais o seu trabalho.

amazing, everything seems so well put together, it's a shame not to can attend to the exhibition... there's a few dresses that i would've love to see as well, but everything is perfect so i can't complain.
The most exciting designer of his generation
6:31 when I saw Kim Kardashian wear the white dress to the vanity Fair Oscars after party,I genuinely thought it resembled pirate zombies.
Simply ICONIC 🖤
Iconic
Gaga used that last look for her Bad Romance video
The best theme of MET 💐🦇🌸🦋🥀🕊✨✨✨✨
Love! Love!!
It's crazy that most if not all of what Gaga wore in 2009-2011 was Alexander
Where can I visit the exhibition ?
Alexander McQueen FOREVER! ♥
Appreciation. 👏
Brilliant! Long live McQueen!!!
Tudo lindo! 👒

He's a genius of fashion no one up to now can parallel his works
Reminds me of a very fashionable Silent Hill.
:') just wiped my tears off.
Amazing
I want to go!
Can someone please tell me, the name of the awesome piece of piano music when they show the "Cabinet of Curiosity"?!?! XO
One of our favorite exhibitions! Check our our channel for more #AlexanderMcQueen shows!
This is purely exquisite. I'm so glad I found this video. His work was brilliant. 🫀
How about his horns of plenty collection?
Amazing!
How funny of u to say that but to be honest I love early McQueen my favorite pieces are from the 2001 Voss collection with my favorite piece being the Medical slide dress as I watch McQueen grow and design I learned and grew to appreciate his sheer talent and eye for design
Thank you...
The red dress in the beginning was made for Bjork which was his actual friend .. I love that !
To this day
Living in Jamaica, I'm so limited to actually seeing these exhibits.
Can someone tell me, were the rinway models wearing the masks and face furniture or did The Met add these?
Love Him
He's a genius
