This was a number one hit song by the Teddy Bears in 1958. Oldies music legend, Phil Spector, gets the credit on this song. He wrote it, he played the guitar for it, sang on the recording with the group of his high school friends, and he produced it. “To Know Him Is To Love Him” is a Phil Spector song from start to finish!
(To know him is to love him, just to see him smile makes my life worthwhile.) When thinking on the words of this song, many relationships could come to mind. Phil says that he got the idea for the song from his own father’s epitaph. His father passed away when young Phil was nine years old. Knowing this song is written by a son to his father makes this song a dear addition to any oldies collection. It has become an oldies favorite and the list of cover artists for this song reads like a who’s who list of top performers.

I'm a 74 year old Scotsman and this song has brought back so many memories of all my dear, dear friends who sadly have now passed and are no longer here, the six gorgeous young ladies sang this song so beautifully, and their harmonies were absolutely out of this world, I'm so happy, yet so very, very sad at the same time 😢💔🙏🏴

One of my dream songs in the 50's. I lived in Southern Ohio, would listen to Wolfman Jack on a Chicago station until I went to sleep. Such good memories.
Bet you also listened to WKBW out of Buffalo as well. Tommy Shannon show was the rock and roll channel everyone listened to. Damn AM radio though since the crackle of the transistor radio gave you fits as they reduced power for the night after 8. Great memories.

I actually remember this song when it was a hit in 1958 - I was a 15 year old at grammar school at the time. Usually the originals are best, but I have to say this version beats the original.

I remember this song from when it was first released. Our 8th grade class chose it to honor one of our teachers. The whole class sang it at a school event and I accompanied them on guitar. It was my first public guitar performance having switched from organ. Later continued on to bass, drums and sax in local rock bands. But this was the start.

Beautiful harmony! You don't see that very much any more. I just listened on the You Tube to the Cordettes (Mister Sandman") and the Mamas and Papas. Whatever happened to such harmony. Today's music, sadly, is mostly drowned out by loud music and fireworks and screaming disquised as singing.
