Such another beautiful video, If there is an "American Idol" for a UA-camr, my vote goes to Robert. Thank you for these wonderful video, Merry Christmas Robert, Illy, Mom Alma and to all Pelicanheads around the world.
I cannot afford to travel much anymore, but you made me feel like I just went on a trip. I'm a Lewis and Clark fan and really enjoyed this series!!! Thank You!
Did you ever think you would be traveling America like this? I bet you did not. You have struck a balance between experiencing these places and recording them for our benefit.
I live east of the Portland area, and virtually nearly everything that I have seen in this video I have experienced for myself. I am so proud that I live here, even though I am still reluctant to encourage people to visit Portland at this time (I think that things are getting a little better now). Interesting fact: in all intents and purposes, the Lewis and Clark Expedition were the first people of European descent to discover Mt. Adams, but they confused it with Mt. St. Helens, which was already discovered and named by Captain Vancouver, when he saw it from the mouth of the Columbia River. Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams are pretty much at the same longitude but 30 miles away, and the Lewis and Clark Expedition would have easily confused it with Mt. Adams. It was left off of the maps that they brought back for that reason. It was not until the 1830's when more white explorers and settlers came to the area that it was named Mt. Adams after John Quincy Adams, who was President of the US at the time. On the return trip up river, William Clark and some of the expedition went several miles up the Wilamette River to Willamette Falls, in present day Oregon City, Oregon. Supposedly, they went to the top of the hill and saw another snow-capped peak farther south, and named it Mt. Jefferson, after Thomas Jefferson. It is the only major peak in the Cascade Range that the expedition named. Thank you again for another wonderful video and Merry Christmas!! Greetings from Clark County, Washington, just below the Columbia River Gorge!! :)
The vintage military jeep 🚙 ride and the view was spectacular...Gordon was an excellent host...Cheers 🍻 to friendships and life! Was so good 👍...had to watch it again as I did with your previous video 📹!
Robert you have done a beautiful and successful adventure in trailing L&C. You are a Cuban American and know so much about America. As a CA so interested in the American landscape and history. I salute you for your commitment. Bravo to you. Thank you for filming this cross country expedition.
Wow...what a great ending to this series! Thanks for taking us along to see some things I may never get a chance to see on my own. Merry Christmas Robert and Illy! And A Blessed 2023.
Put on 2,000 miles in Oregon and Washington. The desert side is barren until you go over the mountains and it's green. I loved it. What adventure. Beautiful. Thanks Robert.
Robert, you should have taught history! That was an amazing journey! Thanks so much for having the talent to make us feel like we were on the trip! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Mornin' Robert! I've driven The Gorge several times, it's great to re-visit it with you. Watching these episodes takes a long time because I'm constantly pausing to check out the locations on Google Maps. Too bad you couldn't make it to Palouse Falls, it's really spectacular. It may seem odd, but seeing Herman The Sturgeon is the highlight of this episode for me. He's been a "bucket list fish" of mine for years if you can believe it. Until Friday's chat, happy trails!
Robert, this is a fantastic video. As a student of L & C, I commend you for doing your research before starting on this adventure. All your prep work paid off in a great series. Oh, and I love all the new music. It adds so much!
Omg I visited Herman the sturgeon about 4 years ago. So glad to see he is alive and doing well. Had a good time at that hatchery. It’s so cool when you visit areas that I have visited. I have relatives in Washington and we drove down to San Francisco. Your right the gorge is beautiful.
Merry Christmas Traveling Robert! From me Jolly, my new Beautiful Pitbull Golden lab mix Julie Bean and the Crazy Cats! Always a Fan And I love you ❤️ 💙 as a Christian ✝️ brother. I sing your songs while working! Again thank you so much for everything! Be Blessed today 🙏 and always! Sincerely William Oberlander 🙏 ❤️
Summer clarity, blues skies, amazing american landscapes and soft music. And travel turns to a dream.Merry Christmas Robert to you and your family.Greetings from Greece.
What a wonderful video.Beautiful river cruise......I like Portland City.....I love Timberline Hotel.................Congrats.....Keep safe.....Love.... MOM...>>>
Keep upping the ante, now giving us VIP tours 😅. There's a National Neon Sign Museum in the Dalles, btw. The Forest River west plant is in Dallas, OR; and the western off road model of the R Pod (which is my TT) is called The Hood River Edition.
Thank you Robert for all your hard work making this for us. Have you and your family a Merry Christmas from a devoted fan in New Zealand. Thanks Robert.
We traveled that area a few times and love the spots you visited. The wind is always terrific. The last visit we stayed in a hotel in Hood River with river view of Bingen. (Next time we will be in Bingen in our Airstream.) We left for Mt. Hood and found ourselves in a sudden snowstorm and had to make a quick exit. We aren’t destined to see it in good weather as you did. Thanks for your beautiful video!
Very Nice! I somehow always feel elevated to a different level after watching your videos on Sunday morning. I especially enjoyed this video since it covers Oregon. It's the one contiguous state west of the Mississippi that I have not visited. It was also very nice to see the Joso trestle at the beginning of the video. Since you've mentioned you are a bit of a railfan, I'd like to mention the "Railfan Dan" UA-cam channel. He does some amazing drone videography (Is that even a word?) of trains in the Northwest. I loved the series. Thanks again for your work.
Another great video. I visited the Columbia River Gorge in 2011 with a photography group along with the Oregon coast. We hit Mount Hood and Timberline Lodge as well as Multnomah Falls and a few other waterfalls. We also went to Larch Mountain where you can see Mt Hood, Mt Ranier and several other peaks on a clear day!
Hello Traveling Robert😊😊🎸🎸🍔🍔🍕🍕🍟🍟🍰🍰...HEY, where are the PELICANS! Robert this was awesome. My brother and I years ago drove and experienced the Spectacular Columbia River Gorge heading west to Portland and Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula. Robert, I want to wish you and your wife Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. I look forward to meeting you...if we can find you😊😊. Such an awesome video👍👍👍👍👍👍.
Great episode Robert, I was reminded of some of the trips I have taken in the area and some that I will be taking in 2023 after watching this video. Looking forward for the last leg of the journey when it is published. Thank you Robert. Oh, and yes..... Happy holidays to you and family.
Thanks for the informative and great travel journal. Ive been watching from the beginning of this journey and looking forward to see the ending episode.
Mt. Hood is one of the coolest places that I've ever been! It was awesome when I was in that area driving around last year and seeing it on the lurking on the horizon.
Thanks for this great video Robert! It is like going along with you - nice views and talks on the roads and in the cities, informative and interesting as always! The lodge seems like a place to visit some time! I am from Norway (I've seen your videos from here!) and went to college in Portland back in 2002 - a place called Lewis & Clark College - it was nice seeing Portland again through you eyes - thank you so much! Can't wait to see the coast - keep up the good work! And good health and happiness to you too as well!
Another wonderful video! I remember driving the Gorge/Columbia River when I was a teenager. Your pictures of the area are outstanding. Merry Christmas to you both!
wow Robert enjoyed video as always! cheers to Gordon for that FANTASTIC hook up that was amazingly close to summit i lived in Vancouver for year 1981 went back 21 things changed so much i could not find office i worked from or anyone. the L/C episodes have been great!!
I used to visit Herman the sturgeon back in the 70's and 80's when he was at the Roaring River fish hatchery. He was well known in the mid Willamette valley back then.
Another great video! An interesting fact about the bridge at Lyons Ferry. It was relocated from Vantage, WA when the new bridge which carries I-90 over the Columbia River was built. On my second visit to the Lewiston-Clarkston area I headed west to Portland and went over pretty much the same route as you until the Tri Cities, Washington area. You headed south and I went north towards I-82 and then south towards I-84. I need to do Hwy 14 on the Washington side again soon! I did the Oregon side up to the Bonneville Dam a few years ago. Definitely need to revisit that area again! When you drove into Portland you should have stayed on the Washington side until closer to Portland where you could crossed the Columbia on a free bridge! Loved seeing Deschutes Brewing in Portland again. Another place I need to check out again soon! Looking forward to the finale. I know it will be a lot of places I have visited in the past.
Wow 55 minutes flew by in this video, and I still want more😅😂🤣, thank you Mr. Robert it was awesome seeing the video that you live edited... It was also good to see your sweet Illy with you; I know she is there a lot, and I've heard you explain why she is not in the videos, still good to see her. Thank you for all the videos this year and have a Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄.
Robert, what an awesome video. I grew up near there and have been to Mount Hood dozens of times. You definitely have to stay at Timberline Lodge some day. We can't wait to watch your next video with Astoria, Seaside, etc. Thanks!
You visited Portland at the right time. I was there the week before and it was so hot and sooooo smoky. It seems every year is a bad wildfire year, anymore
Love your videos from St Louis, Kansas City to Portland! Now you must check out Sedona! Zane Grey’s “Call of the Canyon” They even have a brewery “Oak Creek Brewery” Check out Slide Rock while you’re there!
Great video Robert! I was in the Columbia River Gorge years ago and it is a beautiful area. Unfortunately I had some rain to deal with so it wasn't as clear as your video. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, your wife and your mother!
Thanks for making and sharing this trip Robert as I have always been interested in the incredible journey of discovery taken by Lewis and Clark. I am planning a gorge visit and wonder if Hwy 35 up to Mt. Hood would be considered rv friendly? I'll be pulling a 20 ft TT.? Thanks for all the years of great travel entertainment...appreciate the work and talent. Merry Christmas!
@@TravelingRobert Ok...good to know. I'll be doing the Mt Hood loop and catching Hwy 26 west. Hwy 35 gets kind of squiggly on the map at the summit... appreciate your input.
The Timberline Lodge looks sweet!
I'm loving this series. I'll have to go back and view the beginning videos from the east. Can't wait for the Grand Finale!

Is that a new song you put into this video? Sounds really nice.
You probably already know this, but when you own a truck that size and like even my truck, backing in is always the easiest
More spectacular scenery! I love it! What a great way to see Mt Hood, a very cool ride up the mountain! How did Ili like the ride?
Que belleza de lugar muy importante para todos los que están viendo

I’ve been to Dechuttes brewery in NC. I guess I didn’t know it was a chain. Interesting
I am seeing a lot of flood Basalt or known by Zentnerds German Chocolate Cake along the Columbia River Gorge
LIKE !!! 😊
Merry Christmas, to you and your family. From Cicero, Illinois, just west of Chicago.
