It looks very pretty, but how would you manage to catch that arm from a resisting opponent ? I would have appreciated some different setups just for that purpose
If the timing is right, sure. I personally never did a gift wrap from the guard, from the mount it's a great tool for getting access to your opponent's back.
@@Grandroborox of course from the mount, opportunities will manifest themselves, as you will alternate between arms or neck attacks, as set ups for the gift-wrap, but from closed guard, it's pretty tough :-)
@@JSMinstantcoaching I have to mention I was never taught this. Gonna have to see for myself if this is a viable technique. I don't think someone would teach a seminar on something with a very low succesrate though.
He is showing just one way of isolating the arm, you're right. But any time you can get their elbow past your center line, the series are there for you. You don't necessarily need to pull their wrist, you could, for example, begin by pushing the elbow across or pulling it, as in arm drag. Easy? No. But angling your body from the bottom, rather than only pulling and pushing helps tremendously.
