  • We couldn't have been more impressed with how the hull performed on this beautiful 26' Makaira powered with a single 300 horsepower Mercury Marine outboard. The deep entry and wide Carolina flare on the bow of this Makaira simply chewed up any chop the San Juan Islands could throw at it. These boats are imported from New Zealand and are designed to run in chop and swell. It didn't disappoint! Get ahold of Tom-n-Jerry's Marine in Anacortes, Washington for more information about Makaira Boats.

That’s a really well designed and built boat. However I did notice a couple of minor things like the drawer slides and latches need upgrades along with upgrading the gaskets. Just saying 😊

Kiwis know how to make boats. I watched this as I just ordered a 300 mercury. A bit disappointed in only 35 kts at wot.

Beautiful boat, but would like to see how it does in some real sea weather. It's hardly even white-capping out there, and no swell to speak of...

Looks like an Ok boat for one or two people. The back deck looks good to fish off, but no cabin room for people to sit, especially with bad weather. I do not know the costs of this boat, but it is not friendly for even a group of 4 to fish. Big negative for me. There is unnecessary equipment that could and should be replaced with seating.

I've actually been on one and 4 people can fish very comfortably, plus there is heaps of room in the cabin. You need to get your eyes tested mate.

@@petermacgregor2004 Ok Mate, if you think 4 people sit comfortably in that cabin, you need your eyes checked. There are a lot of other boat options in the PNW that better cabin room. Cheers

I agree. For 26 ft I expected a bigger cabin. Maybe my eyes are tricking me but the cabin seems about 2 feet longer on most PNW boats of similar size. Maybe the dance floor is just that much bigger on the makiara? Or maybe they are counting the off shore bracket as part of the length and the boat is more like 23.5 feet? My brain is thinking at 26 feet it is a little over 28 feet including the bracket. There isn't really a standard on measuring length. I might have to look that up. Maybe overall length will be more telling in comparisons.
These boats definitely intrigue me. Though. Maybe in person the cabin is the same as so many others, just seems small in the video
