- My family couldn't get together until Saturday to celebrate the thanksgiving tradition so my father and I went out into the woods to have a bushcraft thanksgiving turkey dinner in the woods and spend some time at the new shelter.
We had a roast turkey breast with stuffing, green beans and mashed potatoes and Bannock on a stick!

Outstanding video
Thank you Dave! All the best, Gary.
I’ll give you credit man. Tough meal to time. Gary gets it!!!
Hey John, hope you had a great thanksgiving bro. Yeah, it can be tough but some of the stuff I cooked and they way I did it afforded me some leeway. Honestly, I am pretty bad at timing stuff I’m cooking lol.
Love yas!!
Back at ya!!
Wow! That is an amazing spread. Yummy!🦃👍🇺🇲😀
:) Thanks Tressa, it was certainly good. Hope you had a great thanksgiving! ATB, Gary.
you guys had a great day for an outdoor feast...
Oh no doubt Jon, it was a great one for sure! Hope you all had a great day!
great times there my friend
For sure my friend, Thank you. Hope you have a great week coming up! ATB, Gary.
Wow! Shirtsleeves on Thanksgiving Day in Connecticut! Great to see that your Dad goes to the woods with you!
Hey Rich! Yeah it was unseasonably warm but a nice day to get out and cook over the fire. Gonna work on maybe a better planned thanksgiving next year, that one was a bit impromptu. Hope all is well and here’s to an awesome upcoming year!
What a spread nothing like food cooked over afire. Good time's right there
Oh no doubt there, food over the fire just has more flavor in my opinion! Thanks S.D and I hope you had a great thanksgiving sir! ATB, Gary.
What a fantastic new tradition I would say...what a great time for father-son bonding! Would love to turn back time and be able to just spend one day similar to this with my father! Enjoy the festivities and all the good food too. Be glad you don't have Otis as he would surely steal the drumstick! LOL 🐕🦺 Take good care now...Bruce and Otis
Lol, Bruce, I wouldn’t trade it for the world I hear you on that and I intend to make the most of the time we do have for sure. Thank you sir and Otis is welcome to a drumstick anytime but I’ll pull the meat off first we don’t want any honey complications 👍🏼
All the best my friend, Gary.
Great outing my friends 👍
Thank you much Steve. ATB, Gary.
Rock on! That's a ton of weight you guys hauled out. You set up a great spot!
It wasn't that bad, the dutchie was the worst of it really.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!That looked like a great meal in the woods. Enjoy ya taking us along.
Michael, happy Thanksgiving to you as well! Dinner was for sure good and thanks for coming along. ATB, Gary.
I am disappointed that you asked if he wanted rolls. You knew the answer before you even asked lol What's a thanksgiving with no rolls! Lol great video!
LOL, I had to ask because if it was just me I wasn't going to make them lol! =P
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁 Gary and Gary. Quite the plate you had Looked really good. Thanks for sharing and we’ll catch ya on the next adventure. ATB Mike
Mike, Happy thanksgiving sir! That was a pretty good bird if I do say so myself. Thank you. ATB, Gary!
Great spread for a camp cookout. Never seen anyone spread coals on top of the Dutch oven. I’d be afraid of ash getting into your grub! Happy Thanksgiving!
Oh Seth, it lets it work as an oven almost at that point and is the reason some Dutch ovens have a recessed lid but to be honest, you still have to be careful when lifting it.
Happy thanksgiving back at ya, hope it was good for you! ATB, Gary.
Hey Its Garys !
Happiest Belated Thanksgiving from The Dismal Swamp (I didn’t name it:})
Looking forward to sharing in many more of your adventures - “it’s hot in here, don’t care for it at all”!!!
May all your journeys be adventures and your havens safe
😃 Happy belated to you as well John!! Hope you had a successful and enjoyable hunt my friend. All the best, Gary.
@@ConnecticutBackcountry we had them outnumbered two to one ! Between ten of us we accounted for three feral hogs (Russian) and two doe. Amongst us was a nephew of mine who’d not hunted before and another young man that was out with us last year and was unsuccessful. Both of them were successful this year and its a different hunt with men half my age that literally practice parkour. Their enjoyment added a great feel to the experience that I’m sure we’ll all long remember.
You're a regular backwoods bobby flay
Ohhh I could go for a burger!
