    Excellent information on the Tannus Inserts as well as details on 'how to' install them. Thanks Tim! I've been running this setup for 1.5 years and have no flats 🤞 That said, I still carry a spare tire, patch kit and air pump in my pannier.

      Glad it was helpful!
      I carry a patch kit and related tools as well. But I always try to transport the bike back to the shop to repair if I can. It’s just easier.

    You are correct. Getting the tire off and back on the rim is a big pain. I had to do this several times with Model T tires and they are even harder. Looking at that piece of wood that punctured the tire and tube, I walk in a nature center and they have ground up wood on some of the paths. One day, a similar piece of wood with a sharp tip actually went through the bottom of my Altra trail runners but it didn't reach my foot. I found it when I got home. True story. I might look into these Tannus liners in the future. My biggest fear is being 20 miles from home and getting a flat tire on a trail. I have a Himiway Zebra and it weighs 79 pounds so pushing that home with a flat would really be difficult. I would have to ask someone with a pickup truck to help me out to get home. I'm in my late 60's and had a quadruple bypass last year so I have to be careful. John from MI

      I have been happy with them. But I have had two flats in two years (about 6000 combined miles)

    I have been using the liquid Flat Out in my original Magicycle Kenda tires for about a year now on and off trail. So far, no flats. I am in the process of changing over to Avalanche Studded tires and going through the same problem trying to get those Kendas off of the rims! Just ordered sets of stainless steel tire spoons and a couple with 14" handles.

      It can be challenging. Be careful not to damage your aluminum rim.
      Good Luck!

    Interested to read how you think the Tanis liners ride compared to just tubes. Thanks for your videos!

      Honestly, there may be a slightly softer ride. But I would say I don’t feel much difference in the ride itself. You are adding weight to the wheel so theoretically there is slightly more rolling resistance. But with it being an Ebike you won’t notice anything.
      Hope this helps!

    Do you always install a new tube when changing tires?

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  Рік тому

      Not usually. As long as the tube doesn’t leak, I use them until failure.

      I used the original oem 26” x 4” tube with the Tannus liners. It is recommended that you use the smaller tubes, but not required for fat tire bikes. I have used the larger 26” x 4” tubes on all three bikes that I have the liners in, and have not had any issues.

    I ordered that 26x4.0-4.8 size but it still didn’t fit their original tube That their electric bike concrete size the KENDA 26x3.5/4.0

      I’m sorry it is too small. As you can see in my video the foam liner is undersized slightly and you have to stretch it a little to get over the rim. when installed the inflation stretches it to fill the tire.
