    Perfect video thanks. As an amateur I did this repair easily following this video, although I drilled out the rivets from inside drum, so any burs were on back of drum then just flattened them. Also I applied a little grease to the bearing plus the shaft, will now monitor it and grease up in maybe a few months.

      I'm not a firm fan of putting too much grease as this attracts dust and then sticks to it then becomes a grinding paste so I would use it cautiously although the part needs to be lubricated the bearing is made from phosphorus bronze which itself becomes a lubrication? I'm glad the video assisted you anyway. What would really help me to get my video seen as I'm no IT expert is to either share the channel or at least post it to your friends my videos might not be UA-cam superstars, but they save Appliances from the scrapheap. I tried the shaft replacement last week, it worked great, but I found it easier to drill the rivets out

    • @How-to-repair
      @How-to-repair  9 років тому +2

      The reason I grind the rivets of are so you do not cause Burs on the inside of the drum which can tear clothes when you use the dryer, this is the right way to do but drilling can be done but you need to file of any burs that you accidentally make other people have made videos on this but they don’t tell you to make sure there are no burs, glad you found it helpful. www.how-to-repair.com/tumble-dryer-spare-parts.html

    As a quick temporary fix to enable use of the dryer whilst waiting for parts or service etc, I have in the past turned the key bearing around 180 degrees and drilled a new 3mm hole tapped with the original securing screw to hold the bearing in place. Then when you have the new parts put the new bearing back in it's original position.

    Thank you, ours just fell to bits. I was going to drill/tap and put in a screw or something. Such a silly design. Ill try your method as can always repair in future easy.

    You can drill through the rivets with a 5 to 5.5mm drill and the flange plate comes off easily.

    • @How-to-repair
      @How-to-repair  4 місяці тому +1

      It will keep cutting into the chassis and eventually cut through the bearing shaft then it's knackered unless you replace the drum shaft kit
