Hello sir,, I have taken Midline distema treatment last year nd it got relapsed. I use permanent retainer but still there's gap in central insicor nd yesterday my upper permanent retainer broke..nd here is corona..i dont feel safe for going outside specially dental clinic.i hav my old hawly retainer, will it works.?? Pls reply. Thank you.
Dont try to fit it back. Either you get a new one made or i guess if its been a while and you are ok with it, you can just leave it. But understand that our mouth, gums and tongue are built a certain way and even of your teeth has changed, your muscles still exude the same forces so they will play a part it shaping your teeth and cause them to change again.
It is very normal as your month tries to adjust to having something foreign in your mouth. Having something new in your mouth stimulates saliva. But dont worry, give it a week or so it will get better. For now i guess bare with it, but one good thing is that stimulated saliva is good for your teeth (makes them strong) so i guess its awesome having stimulated saliva bathe your teeth for a while(:
(2) same question, I just got mine yesterday and it sucks bc it's a little tight (it took a while to get my retainer) then saliva keeps gathering on the roof of my mouth 😭
Usually for retainers, we ask patients to wear for 8-12hrs. Even if your doctor asks you to wear it constantly, for removable appliances, should always remove when doing oral hygiene practises. And then wear it back if instructed. Our teeth takes time to return/shift so removing for 2mins for oral hygiene wont be a problem, especially for a retainer.
No, you'd need to undergo orthodontic treatment for a few years (get braces) to fix an overjet or any other bite problem. After getting the braces removed, you begin the retention stage. You'll probably get a retainer like this one to keep your teeth from shifting back out of place.
Thanks a lot ,I was panicking that I forgot how to set it in my teeth ,u saved me 😊

Are these supposed to fit snug to the roof of the mouth or with some space?

Can I remove the retainer while brushing my teeth ? Becoz my doctor recommend to not to remove the retainer at any time because it's my 1st day
