@@jimmythefish That doesn't jive with history. The first square shoulder Martin D's were in 1934, while Gibson first issued the slope shoulder D around 1930. Martin made 12-fret slope D's earlier than that, but under the Ditson name.
@@jimmythefish Calm down! Just saying that Martin first introduced the SLOPE shoulder, then modified with a square shape. Gibson (let's say) took inspiration... By the way, I own Martin D35, Martin DSS Black smoke, Gibson J45 TV, Gibson LG0,1,2...among others.

I have a 00-17L in black smoke and it's true the finish makes it louder and woodier...nice broken in sound
It's a Martin J45. Just say it already.
Martin invented that body shape. Gibson copied it with the J45...
