Remember like it was yesterday. I was there. Then again i think everyone from West Bromwich were there. The bomber to be on the end of a fantastic move to plant the ball into the net which behind the goal packed with Baggies. Fantastic. ...BOING 🙌 BOING .

I was a 12 year old lad with my Dad at this game and definitely one of the best days of my life - a brilliant goal from Bomber .
Never seen so many Albion fans at an away matcn

The winning goal scored by Tony Brown, who was born in Oldham. :) I don't think most Oldham fans minded that day - first home defeat of the season on the final day, but a good one as it cost Bolton promotion. They whinged their arses off about it afterwards.

Not the first home defeat. We also lost 2-4 to Bristol City in October. Also only won one of our last 16 fixtures that season - would probably have been relegated but for a decent run from August to early January.

@@staceygrove5976 You’re right, lost just two at home all season and were every bit as poor on the road as we were good at home.

Great how the ref sprints for the centre circle after the goal. Had to be a secret Baggie.

Oldham lost? To quote Billy Connolly in the film Still Crazy "in an uncertain world it's good to know some things never change" or not, if you're from Oldham, like me.

As an Oldham fan I suspect that Oldham gave this game away because if Oldham won, Bolton or Blackburn (can't remember which) would have been promoted.
They (Oldham) played not too well as I thought they could have. Thus is the following season Oldham would have lost revenue with the loss of a Derby.

In fact Bolton missed out again the following season by a whisker but ent up as champs 77/78 season along with soton and spurs

Is that the only time that Tony Brown scored with his LEFT foot?
