The winning goal scored by Tony Brown, who was born in Oldham. :) I don't think most Oldham fans minded that day - first home defeat of the season on the final day, but a good one as it cost Bolton promotion. They whinged their arses off about it afterwards.
Not the first home defeat.We also lost 2-4 to Bristol City in October. Also only won one of our last 16 fixtures that season - would probably have been relegated but for a decent run from August to early January.

As an Oldham fan I suspect that Oldham gave this game away because if Oldham won, Bolton or Blackburn (can't remember which) would have been promoted. They (Oldham) played not too well as I thought they could have. Thus is the following season Oldham would have lost revenue with the loss of a Derby.
